My doppler of the left leg found a haematoma in muscle plain . Then later when MRI of the same leg was done it is missing . I have regular pain and cramps in my left thigh. What could be the reason.

This may be due to decrease in blood circulation and may be due to improper ions/ minerals. may be weakened walls of blood vessels. Should consult physiotherapist. proper evaluation is needed for the same.

Cupping therapy in heel pain

MD (U), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S)
Unani Specialist, Delhi
Cupping therapy in heel pain
Cupping therapy in plantar fascitis (heel pain)

Few days ago a patient reported pain in the bottom of his foot. He described it as feeling like his foot was ripping apart during the first few steps out of bed in the morning. During the day it seemed to get a bit better but never totally gone. He had a list of other symptoms and wanted to do whatever he could to get rid of the pain. Finally patient was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and decided to treat with cupping therapy.

After the two sessions, he reported good improvement in his foot pain and leg muscle tightness. And now he is able to get out of bed and walk almost normally.

I believe that cupping is so much effective at removing inflammation, that it was key in treating his plantar fasciitis.

My uric acid level is 7.5 and I have pain in joints of my fingers and in my feet.
Please suggest some remedy.
Mr. Lybrate-user, to reduce uric acid, you will have to restrict high purine containing foods like: organ meats, red meat, certain fishes such as sardines, scallops, shell fish, salmon, herrings, haddock, trout, anchovies, mussels, mushrooms. Plus no sweetened aerated drinks, alcohol and high fat milk products. You can take low fat milk products, egg whites, plenty of fruits and vegetables. There are specific drugs used to reduce uric acid called as uricosuric agents which increase the excretion, those can be used.

Causes and Symptoms of Avulsion Fracture

MS - Orthopaedics, MBBS
Orthopedist, Hyderabad
Causes and Symptoms of Avulsion Fracture

A small piece of bone is known as a fragment and it is very common that an avulsion fracture also tends to damage the protrusions of bone to which the tendons attach. This basically means that the tendon or ligament will come away from the bone and it will take a small piece of bone with it. It is sometimes very hard to find out what type of injury you have and this is why knowing the causes and symptoms of an avulsion fracture are very helpful in determining exactly how severe the injury is.

Here are the causes of an avulsion fracture.

Causes:

  1. Explosive Landing: Athletes who tend to jump or land with great impact tend to get these most commonly. Therefore, it is crucial for your health that if you participate in such sports, you do follow the correct method of jumping.

  2. Explosive Extension: Similar to how an athlete landing ferociously can get an avulsion fracture, someone who is extending the legs very violently and explosively during an exercise can also get an avulsion fracture. This is because the bone getting extended could very well damage the protrusions to which the tendons are attached.

Symptoms:

These are the two main causes of an avulsion fracture. There are not many symptoms of an avulsion fracture. This is because an avulsion fracture can only be determined by an MRI or by an X-ray scan. Therefore it is nearly impossible to diagnose that you have an avulsion fracture without looking at the results of the tests performed on the part of your body. However, the way you got the fracture and especially the details of it are very good indications of whether you have an avulsion fracture or not. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Dear lybrate-user, you need to check your body calcium and iron levels. There is nothing much to get depressed. Every change is possible needed you put in the necessary efforts. Consume high biological value protein rich foods like egg white, soya, til seed cake, fish, wall nuts, badam, rajma for gaining weight. Also drink whey water, dal waters, soaked nuts and oil seeds regularly for best results. Include milk proteins like paneer, cheese, whey in your diet. Good luck.

I have back pain from last 2-3 years, my age is 28 and having sitting job. What should I do?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
I have back pain from last 2-3 years, my age is 28 and having sitting job. What should I do?
Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). Lie down on bed on your back without pillow. Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's TopiArnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.

Hi, Back pain is one of the most common reasons people go to the doctor or miss work. Causes of backache include: 1) muscle or ligament strain. Repeated heavy lifting or a sudden awkward movement may strain back muscles and spinal ligaments. 2) bulging or ruptured disks. Disks act as cushions between the bones (vertebrae) in your spine. The soft material inside a disk can bulge or rupture and press on a nerve. 3) Arthritis. Osteoarthritis can affect the lower back. 4) Skeletal irregularities. Back pain can occur if your spine curves abnormally. 5) Osteoporosis. Preventive measures 1) Maintain a healthy weight. 2) Keep your sitting posture correct/straight. Do not slouch 3) Avoid bending from back while lifting something from ground, instead bend at your knees. 4) Hot fomentation to lower back or the painful part. 5) Keep the coir side of your mattress up to give your back firm support and change the mattress if it is curved. 6) Wear comfortable footwear with shock absorbing soles in shoes. In case above measures do not help, take Rhus. Tox-30, 2 drops in 1 tsp water thrice a day for a week and revert back: Now-a-days most backaches are due to Vitamin D deficiency. Sit in sun and expose the long bones and back to sunrays. Also drink 2 glasses of milk daily.
