I am 23 years old male. I am getting blood from my mouth Whenever I brush my teeth. I changed brushes and pastes but no changes.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth.

Sir I hv done my teeth scaling and polishing. Wt the procedure to maintain the cleanness so dat no more scaling needed in future?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
All individuals requires scaling (cleaning) to be done atleast once in 6 months to maintain our oral hygiene clean. Our toothbrush is not much finely designed to clean all the plaque and calculi in the interdental areas of the teeth, which is the area where most of the calculus accumulate much and has to be removed regularly using scalers by the dentist.

We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning or surgical removal procedures for the mucosa above the tooth to prevent food stagnation or the tooth itself. Rinse frequently with mouth wash. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Saving a fallen tooth can be useful. Try to keep it in place while you seek immediate medical attention. If that is not the case, try wrapping the tooth in a piece of plastic or soaking it into milk and call for immediate dental service.

You can go for veneering of teeth, which covers front surface of teeth. So gaps wont be visible. Visit to a dentist for it.

Suffering from bad breath, getting very stinky smell from mouth for the last six months when im talking to people. Consulted dentist but they told orally there is no problem. Notable to figure out the exact problem.

There is infection of gums so you have to get scaling done from dentist.Mostly scaling is sufficient but if problem persists than xray is advised. And it could be due to lung diseases also. Keep your tongue clean too.

Tobacco and Betel -nut, both are equally damaging to the oral cavity and can cause oral cancer.

It is very well recognized that tobacco causes oral cancer. But consuming betel - nut with or without tobacco can cause Oral Submucous Fibrosis which is a pre - cancerous condition. So tobacco as well as betel-nut both should be stopped to prevent oral cancer.

Dental health tip:

My teeth are blooding when I use hard paste. Is this a serious problem? What should I do.

Irregular brushing technique with a worn off brush will certainly cause the tooth abrasion, gums to recede & thereby resulting in root exposure. Exposure of (dentin or cementum) layer of the tooth or trauma to the root nerve tissue causes Sensitivity. Adv cleaning and artificial enamel filling Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

At your age mouth ulcers are very common. So do not worry. This ulcers are because of stress hormones and also because of stomach upset. Both are common symptoms at your age. Always keep a 0.1%kenakort buccal paste with you and apply over the lesions whenever they recur. You will get relief in 2-3 days. Take sufficient amount of vitamin b in your diet.

If it is the wisdom tooth, better go for extraction. But do tell about your allergies to your dental surgeon before treatment.
