Dear lybrateuser, -the fast heart beat is due to stress & anxiety -to reduce stress do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, outdoor games for 20-30 min a day, also do yoga, meditation & deep breathing for 10-15 min in the morning, you don't have to do these at a stretch, even short periods of 10-15 min spread over the day is beneficial -other than work occupy your mind by reading, listening to music, following a hobby, socializing with friends as these have a calming effect on the mind -eat well balanced, nutritious, home made food, avoid spicy, fried & junk food, more than 2-3 cups of tea, coffee if you take, also avoid alcohol & tobacco -have a good restful sleep for 7-8 hrs at night, for this eat your dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime, avoid watching tv & other gadgets 1-2 hrs before bedtime, read a book or listen to music before going to bed -if still not much improvement then consult a doctor as you may require medication.

My mother is 45 years old suffering from thyroid, she take eltroxin 75 mg daily, chlorestrol in blood n hypertension ...
A person becoming "hyper and angry" has no direct relationship to either high blood pressure or thyroid related disease. It is just the nature of the person. Only thing one has to do is make him/her learn to relax and avoid reacting immediately. If she is on treatment for hypothyroidism then TSH should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L, then only all the symptoms are in check. Similarly BP should be maintained 120 -130 / 70 - 80 mm Hg. Since no current readings have been mentioned, the above levels are suggested. Thanks.

Restricting salt in diet can lower heart disease risk

Restricting salt in the diet can lower the risk of developing heart disease by 25% and the risk of dying from heart disease by 20%.
Dietary intake of sodium among Indians is excessively high. Among hypertensive individuals, lowering sodium is quite well established to lower blood pressure, but now it has been shown that reducing salt also has an effect on cardiovascular disease.
According to a Harvard Medical School study published in British Medical Journal, when people with prehypertension (blood pressure more than 120/80 and lower than 140/90), reduced their salt intake by about 25 to 35%, they were 25% less likely to develop cardiovascular disease 10 to 15 years after the trial ended. There was also a 20 percent lower death rate from cardiovascular disease among those who cut their salt consumption.
Salt restriction is best achieved by avoiding salted, salt cured and salt smoked foods such as lunch meat, hot dogs, ham, olives, pickles and regular salted canned foods, and other prepared foods, which often use more salt than homemade equivalents. Foods we would never think of as salty, such as breakfast cereals, cookies, and even some soft drinks often contain copious additions of sodium.
WHO recommends limiting the salt intake to less than 5 grams per day.

For paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia you need to consult a cardiologist who have is an ep specialist. So far as angiography goes conventional angiography gives the final answer. Ct angiography is more of a screening test. If the heart is'weakening' better to go for conventional angiography to check if any vessels are blocked. In delhi all good centres like medanta, fortis escorts and aiims have the required facilities.
