Hi lybrate-user if it's allergy you need a planned treatment. A few words to make you understand. Dust allergy is partly genetic and partly environmental. Thus it never goes away. With better, less dusty environment  the extent if the problem gets reduced. Medicines help to downregulate the immune response of your body to these environmental allergens. Long term lifestyle  changes with gradually tapering medication  helps to tackle chronic sinus problems.  Start taking Steam inhalation twice a day. *For chronic allergic rhinosinusitis you will need to take a long term course of antibiotics  together  with Nasal sprays. *You will need to avoid dusty environment  and dust mites, animal dander etc. Regular cleaning of AC air filters. Wearing mask while driving 2 wheelers/working in dusty  areas Medical  management  is done for 3 months and then patients  condition is reviewed.  Intermittent treatment is not beneficial  in the long run.

Dear lybrate-user, if you want to go with home remedy than start taking iron rich diet which will produce mucus in your mouth hence leads to improve immunity in your mouth locally, and secondly start taking good fresh fruits so that will hydrate your mouth which will further enhance the protection.

First of all you need an assessment of your hearing level, which can be done by a test called" pure tone audiometry" Depending on the results of the above mentioned test, further course of action can be decided.

Is Septoplasty the only way to correct deviated nasal septum. What is the cost involved. Thanks in advance.

MBBS, Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO)
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
Is Septoplasty the only way to correct deviated nasal septum. What is the cost involved. Thanks in advance.
Yes, but the term is very ambiguous as there are many small steps with varied surgical techniques that are included in the term Septoplasty. Modern techniques have made packless endoscopic surgery with new age tools like LASERs, Microdebriders, Coblation Wands have transformed Septoplasty from a horribly painful surgery into a minimally invasive short-stay surgery that allows you to breathe nasally as soon as you regain consciousness in the recovery room! Costs differ depending upon the technologies employed, Implants/packs/splints used, surgical technique and popularity and expertise of the surgeon involved, type of ward opted for, type of hospital, town/city where surgery is done. My patients usually spend about ₹1,00,000 all inclusive, as a daycare admission in an average hospital in Bengaluru. At a corporate hospital, in a Royal Suite, the same surgery could cost you triple the amount easily! In any small town in Karnataka, in a small Nursing Home, you could get Septoplasty done for ₹25,000 too. But remember, you pay peanuts, you will only get monkeys! Select an ENT Surgeon carefully. There are many sites which have comprehensive listings of ENT Surgeons with previous patient feedbacks. Read them carefully, before you select the right surgeon for you.

I have recently had a ECG for a job, the results of ECG showed that I had suspect anteroseptal myocardial infarction and sinus tachycardia but they somehow granted me the fitness certificate, I want to know whether the said condition is something to be worried of or it is minor symptoms of something else.

BHMS, DEMS
Homeopath, Pune
An anteroseptal infarction is a specific area of heart that dies due to lack of or insufficient flow of blood. If Dr. Suspect you hv mi definitely they advice hospital admission. Tachycardia is caused by something that disrupts the normal electrical impulses that control the rate of your heart's pumping action. Many things can cause or contribute to problems with the heart's electrical system. Causes=anemia exercise sudden stress, such as fright high blood pressure smoking fever drinking too much alcohol. Drinking too many caffeinated beverages medication side effects. If cardiologist given fitness certificate. Then no worry about that. If you hv any doubt take one more ecg and show to cardiologist. Don't think too much. Avoid stress.

Hello and welcome to lybrate, from your history, I have come to an conclusion that the lump is nothing but enlarged post auricular lymph node. This lymphadenopathy is generally due to scalp infection. So, I think you first go to a dermatologist. That will be best for you. Thanks and get well soon.

What is sinus and how can we identify it and what are it symptoms and how can it be prevented?

BHMS
Homeopath, Raebareli
The sinuses are a connected system of hollow cavities in the skull. The largest sinus cavities are around an inch across; others are much smaller. Sinus Tests Physical examination: A doctor can look into the nose with a lighted viewer to see the turbinates, which may be swollen. She may press or tap on the face over the sinuses to check for pain. Computed tomography (CT scan): A CT scanner uses X-rays and a computer to create detailed images of the sinuses. CT scanning can help diagnose chronic sinusitis. Symptoms: Acute sinusitis (sinus infection): Viruses or bacteria infect the sinus cavity, causing inflammation. Increased mucus production, nasal congestion, discomfort in the cheeks, forehead or around the eyes and headaches are common symptoms. Sinus Treatments Decongestants: Medications that cause blood vessels in the inner nasal tissue to constrict. As a result, there is less sinus congestion, mucus production and postnasal drip. For further queries get back to me.
