I had seizure 3 years ago. I consulted a neurologist and stated taking leviteractam tablets, still taking it. Never had seizure again in 3 years. But I'm unclear about the doctor as he is not commenting on stopping the tablets even after normal EEG reports. What should I do about this?

I used to have severe headache whenever I come from my work. Is it a symptom of migraine?

BHMS
Homeopath, Sindhudurg
No headaches can be classified into three main categories: tension headaches, migraine headaches and cluster headaches. There can be many causes of a headache such as physiological changes in the head, constriction of blood vessels, abnormal neuron activity, genetic causes, excessive smoking, excessive drinking, lack of water in the body, oversleeping, overuse of pain killers, eye strain, neck strain, and others. People often use over-the-counter medicines or prescription pain killers to get relief from headaches. But there are many natural remedies that can treat your headache quickly and easily. For instance, dehydration is one of the most commdon causes of a headache. In such cases, simply drinking a cool glass of water can cure your headache within minutes. It is a good idea to drink about eight to ten glasses of water throughout the day to keep your body well hydrated. Along with water, there are many other natural ingredients that can be used to treat a headache. Ginger ginger can help reduce inflammation of the blood vessels in the head, thus providing relief from a headache. Mix equal parts of ginger juice and lemon juice. Consume it once or twice a day. Another option is to apply a paste of one teaspoon of dry ginger powder, also called sonth, and two tablespoons of water on the forehead for a few minutes. You can also boil ginger powder or raw ginger in water, and inhale the vapor. Chew one or two pieces of crystallized ginger candy.

In case of epilepsy since you are on meds for 3 years, if the seizures are completely controlled and eeg is normal, a trial of gradual taper of medicines can be given. But always taper medicines after consulting your neurologist. And there is always a chance of recurrence so that risk has to be borne in mind.

Good Morning ~ I am sorry to hear about your problem with epilepsy and I certainly believe that you can control your problem with the use of medications. It is not unusual for caregivers to feel some amount of burnout while taking care of themselves and their loved ones. Some amount of counseling or talk therapy and medications in combination may be needed and a thorough evaluation is called for. I will certainly help with your issues if you can book an appointment with the undersigned.

Insomnia And it's Causes

Ph. D - Alternative Medicine, PG Diploma in Psycological Counseling
Psychologist, Mumbai
Insomnia And it's Causes

Insomnia is the condition of acute sleeplessness, and it takes a heavy toll on your mood, your energy levels, and your ability to concentrate and work during the day. Some of the most common symptoms of the condition are:

  • You find it difficult to fall asleep even if you are tired
  • Once you wake up in the middle of the night, you cannot get back to sleep
  • You cannot work or concentrate on anything during the day
  • You stay mostly fatigued, or irritated throughout the day
  • You have to depend on pills or alcohol to fall asleep.
  • You wake up very early in the morning, no matter how late you sleep

What could be the causes for insomnia?

Insomnia might last just a few days if it is induced by some temporary cause, like stress at your workplace, or any other personal issue you can be facing. However, when the cause is a long rooted one, insomnia might persist for a long time. There can be a mix of many causes for that to happen:

  • Psychological stress or other emotional discomforts - Common psychological problems like anxiety, depression, chronic work stress, grief, and also bipolar disorder can be the causes for insomnia.
  • Illness or other medical problems - There can be many medical causes or other illnesses at the root of insomnia like allergies, acute asthma, hyperthyroidism, Parkinson’s disease, kidney related diseases and cancer as well.
  • Medications - There can be many drugs, which might be prescribed by your doctor, but still be responsible for insomnia. These include antidepressants, corticosteroids like thyroid hormone medicines, few blood pressure medications, certain contraceptives and stimulants for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
  • Sleep Disorders - Insomnia, though in itself is a sleep disorder, can also be the symptoms for other sleep disorders like sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and other disorders related to jet lag or if you are working on a late night shift.

In addition to these causes, some daily lifestyle habits might act as triggers to insomnia, which include:

  • Consumption of large amounts of caffeine on a regular basis
  • Developing irregular sleep schedules
  • Taking your smartphone to bed and ending up spending a lot of time with it in the night
  • Eating late in the evening

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a psychiatrist and ask a free question.

Autism once occurred it remains for life. We can train these persons in self care, communication and socialisation with effort. She should get admitted in a special school for such kind if persons. You may make a group of similar kind of caregivers and learn from each other's experience.

It is not clear what you mean by" nerves weakness" you may first consult a psychiatrist after checking your blood sugar levels (fasting/post-prandial) are normal. I do not appreciate you have a primary neurological problem.
