My body development is not regular and i am facing that my memory weak. please advice.?
You will need to explain what you mean by? body development is not regular. If you think it has anything to do with memory, I will need to know what was irregular in the first place. Regarding memory you can do the following to develop it. Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night? s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too.

Hi, welcome to lybrate. What you have is more of performance anxiety during sex. I need to understand the thoughts you have while you are getting intimate with someone. Whenever these kinds of anxious thoughts and feelings become attached to sex and performance, the body releases stress hormones that can interfere with sexual arousal and performance. This failure to perform can cause even greater anxiety, resulting in a vicious circle. Knowing how to break the cycle of sexual performance anxiety can help both partners have a healthier sex life and a happier relationship. Take a moment to focus on your breathing before initiating sex. Use that time to clear your head of any thoughts that might distract you or cause you additional anxiety. If you find it impossible to let go of the stresses from that day, try having sex on a less-stressful day instead. Trying and failing when you can't clear your mind will only cause further stress and anxiety. It may also help to meditate before having sex as meditation is known to alleviate anxiety. Enjoy every sensation you are having with your partner, and communicate throughout the experience with your partner. Communication can help alleviate a lot of anxiety and ensure both you and your partner are comfortable throughout the experience. Focus should be on your partner not on yourself.

Hello lybrate-user the best way to overcome these thoughts would be to indulge in your hobby. Maybe you like art or dance or reading or writing? pursuing your hobby will help take your mind off things. Meditation helps greatly too. To completely rid yourself of thoughts, be with it till the storm passes over and you will attain inner peace:)

What Makes Catatonic Depression so Impairing?

What Makes Catatonic Depression so Impairing?

Causes and symptoms of Catatonic depression

Catatonic depression is a kind of depression which is characterized by prolonged periods of speechlessness and motionlessness. It is described as a state of mind that is caused by neurogenic and motor inabilities caused due to dysfunction of various neurotransmitters like glutamate and dopamine. People who suffer from a severe case of this condition, even have difficulty in performing simple regular tasks. For example, the act of eating breakfast may take a span of hours.

Some of the common symptoms of this condition are:

- Feelings of sadness
- A change in appetite causing gain or loss of weight
- Difficulty in concentrating and thinking
- Feelings of restlessness, worthlessness, and guilt
- Fatigue
- Irritability
- A loss of interest in any activity
- Trouble sleeping
- Attempts at suicide
- Cynicism and negativism
- Agitation
- Unusual and abnormal movements
- An inability to move and difficulty in speaking
- A refusal to eat or drink due to extreme anxiety

The major causes of catatonic depression are:

1. Abnormal neurotransmitter production - Irregularities in the production of neurotransmitters are believed to be one of the major causative factors of this type of depression. These neurotransmitters present in the brain help cells to communicate with each other. Serotonin and norepinephrine are the neurotransmitters which are mostly associated with this type of depression.

2. Dopamine irregularities - Another reason for this condition is believed to be the irregularities in dopamine, glutamate, and gamma-aminobutyric acid neurotransmitter systems. Underlying neurological, physical, psychiatric or psychological conditions are accompanying issues.

Administering antidepressants or using electroconvulsive therapy are some of the known ways of treatment which have proved effective for getting relief from catatonic depression.

Crying - Can it Help You Overcome Sadness?

MD-Internal Medicine , MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Crying - Can it Help You Overcome Sadness?

While some people see tears as a sign of weakness, for others crying is a crucial way of dealing with grief. Though as children we’re told not to cry and to ‘keep a hold’ of our emotions, letting go of a few tears can help alleviate grief and emotional distress.

Here are a few reasons crying could be a good idea when dealing with loss.

  1. Crying can stimulate the release of endorphins: Crying cleanses the mind of negative emotions and allows you to express your emotions. Crying can be described as a reaction to pain and in order to control pain, the body releases endorphins. Endorphins are also known as happy hormones as they block the transmission of pain signals and create a sense of contentment. These chemicals can take a little time to have an effect and hence in most cases, you will notice an improvement in your mood after a good cry.
  2. Crying elevates the mood: Crying can help reduce your body’s manganese levels. A higher than normal manganese level can heighten anxiety, irritability, tiredness and emotional disturbances. By lowering manganese levels, the brain is left with enough space for happier emotions and hence crying can help elevate a person’s mood.
  3. Crying stimulates the body’s parasympathetic nervous system: The parasympathetic nervous system controls a number of functions including heart rate. Crying can stimulate this system and trigger a state of relaxation. For this reason, you may feel sleepy after crying. This gives your body time to relax and deal with the problem at hand with a calmer mind.
  4. Crying helps deal with stress: A stressful experience or emotional situation can cause a build-up of stress hormones known as cortisol. As the levels of cortisol increase in the body, it goes into flight or fight mode as an automatic response to stress. Crying reduces the cortisol levels and helps relieve tension and stress almost immediately.
  5. Crying is cathartic: Every day we are exposed to conflicts and stressful situations that can build up into resentments and leave a person feeling anxious and depressed. Sometimes, giving vent to emotions and crying can help release these pent-up feeling and heap cleanse the mind of these negative emotions. Crying also allows us to open ourselves up to the people around and can improve the levels of intimacy between them. In this way, it can help a person become part of a community. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

alcohol in any quantity is bad for health in a normal person and more so in a person with diabetes. Plus taking regular treatment for diabetes is a must. Please understand diabetes is just not increase in sugar, it affects every single organ in the body like eyes (retina- leading to blindness), affects blood vessels supplying lower limbs and heart, leading to ulcers on the non healing on foot, going up to amputation, coronary artery disease causing silent heart attacks, kidney damage and neuropathy. So controlling blood sugar effectively is absolutely essential as well as avoiding alcohol consumption. Alcohol affects liver, patient fail to recognise hypoglycemia, affects stomach causing gastritis. Talk to him about these things, may get convinced. Thanks for the question.

My father who is around 65 year old is under depression as told by some doctors. He is having sleeping disorders. Sometime he sleeps whole day and night and sometime doesn't sleep at all. Sometime he speaks too much and sometimes keeps mum. Sometimes he eats properly and most of the time deny food. Sometimes even wanna die. He says that he don't wanna live. I have consulted few doctors as well but medicines weren't much effective as of now. Also done with brain mri and other health check ups that shows normal. Please suggest what to do. Also suggest some good psychiatrist in delhi ncr area if it is really a case of depression. Also suggest the possible treatment for him.

Dear, your father could be disappointed. You should be able to distinguish between disappointment and depression. Disappointment also brings on symptoms identical to depression but they are short lived. Were your father disappointed in the near past? I think he is disappointed due to his health conditions. He needs your love and affection. Treat him as if he is your child and constantly motivate him. He could be sad because he fear to die and now tries to understand life and death. If you motivate him constantly, he may come back to life as a wise person. Take care. Convey my love to your father.

My relative is suffering from wiered issue. She is washing her hand every time. She don't want to touch wall also. She is feeling that this is dirty. Is there any possiblity to recover from this issue?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

This is called ocd or obsessive-compulsive disorder. The obsession is a repeated thought pattern that is not productive and it leads to a repeated action behavior that is compulsive and also non-productive. The person will usually believe that if the behavior is repeated a certain number of times, the problem will disappear. In some people it can be quite crippling. So if it has not reached serious proportions take her to meet with a counselor to resolve the same. The ocd is founded on fear, and the compulsive behavior is magically believed to resolve the same. The counselor will help her identify the fear and help her deal with it in healthy and normal ways. She must be cooperative and very communicative for any success. The therapy may be for long-term and so she has to be patient and never drop out thinking that she is done with it. Let the counselor decide that with her. You must also involve her parents in all this. If the counselor thinks it is serious enough that medication is required, that person will send her to a psychiatrist. Whatever happens do not discontinue the therapy until she feels completely out of this problem. Her particular problem is a fear of infection: the fetish is about cleanliness and germs, which is in fact all over the place and cannot be completely eradicated except in very sterile surroundings. Our immune system can quite easily handle it but if she is stressed by the fear, she can in fact become infected due to lowered immunity, and will not know it or accept it anyway.

Here are reasons, symptoms and management of anxiety

I am a 17 year old student. I used to be academically good, but since about a year now, I find it impossible to concentrate while studying and it's a big issue. My symptoms resemble a subtype of ADHD though I can't be having that. Besides inability to focus while studying I have completely lost sincerity, self control and have developed a really casual attitude, all hampering my studies. I feel that these symptoms also affect my life in other ways. Time is really scarce now so please suggest a solution fast.

I suspect that the adolescent issues with regard to hormones may be affecting your ability to concentrate and have interest in your studies too. When the hormones play up, it lasts for a period of close to two years and during that time you could be influenced by three signs directly impacted by the chemical: you will tend to become aggressive and rebellious, you will become sexually active, and you will have acne and pimple problems. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact your memory because of the chemical but also bring some distractions that come with it. You must be absolutely sure that you are not bored because of these influences to make a radical decision and quit studies. You will regret later and then the time cannot be turned back. In case you have problems with concentration here are a few guidelines: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. Dear lybrate user. I can understand. In these 10 days you are supposed to review and try recalling whatever you studied for the last 9 or 10 months. Don't stress yourself. The more you stress yourself the more you will be in trouble. Study 6 to 8 hours maximum and get at least 7 hours sleep daily. Take care.

Dear Doctor, I am 35 years old male and i am not working and i am suffering from mental illness which I noticed mysel...
Hello. I can understand your condition. The feelings of helplessness that you are describing are result of depressed mood and negative thinking. It happens sometimes that our minds think over the past too much and this makes us feel negative and low about ourselves. Thinking about past events may be considered a normal phenomena but when this gets out of control and we keep reverting to thoughts about past happenings, then we find ourselves caught up in a circle of negative thinking. We are not able to relieve us from such mental load and find no direction as how to come out of it. We develop a negative view of ourselves and we are not able to feel good about ourselves. This makes us more depressed and we feel incapable of doing anything. We get stuck to past and find ourselves helpless in face of any challenging circumstances. A new event of marriage is making you vulnerable to feel more depressed and helpless as you are unemployed and occupied in your past. This is a state of depression and it seems you may be having clinical depression which needs to be diagnosed by a mental health professional and treated in time. You are going to start a new phase of your life and therefore you need hope, courage and motivation to enter this new phase. So this is the right time for you to seek professional help and make yourself feel better about yourself. You need to work and find meaning in life. You MUST meet a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist as soon as possible.

Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. You must be able to understand concentration, attention span, recollection and distraction. If you are able to watch a movie for two hours continuously, if you are able to play a game for an hour, then you do not have any concentration problems. You can't be attentive towards your studies because you are not interested in it. You are able to watch movie and play game because you are interested in it. Human cannot be attentive towards anything for more than 10 minutes. If the task is boring, it is natural that that person will sleep or feel sleepy. Then you should study in such a way that your attention is continued and make the subjects are interesting to you. Effective learning techniques should help you. Recollection depends on anxiety, stress and other physical and circumstantial factors. Distractions while studying are plentiful. You should be able to overcome distractions or avoid distractions. Please understand the above. Change your study style and attitude accordingly. Please search internet for" effective learning" techniques. Take care.
