DIET COKE : IS IT REALLY SAFE FOR YOU ?

Food and the beverages you consume affects weight and blood glucose in ways that you are not even aware of.

Although diet soft drinks can be a good low-sugar alternative to regular soft drink , the amount you consume could be hurting you just as much as drinking full-sugar soda.

Diet Soft drink and Heart Disease

Consuming diet soft drink on regular basis could put you at a higher risk of developing Heart disease , stroke, High Blood pressure

Although diet soft drink may not contain sugar, it does contain sodium, phosphate, and caffeine, which can also be harmful for a diabetic person.

High phosphate levels can have a negative effect on your bone mineral content and makes them weak and fragile.
Sodium and caffeine can cause high blood pressure amd dehydration, making you more thirsty, and could start you on a vicious cycle with diet soda.

Diet Soft drink and Weight Gain

1.They increases the desire and then consumption of “sugar-sweetened, energy-dense beverages/foods,” suggesting that the body reacts by craving more food.
2.Drinking these beverages may disrupt the ability to estimate how much food is actually needed.

TIPS TO BREAK YOUR DIET DRINK'S ADDICTION

1.Go Slow
Stopping this drinks suddenly can be difficult so taper it down slowly

2.Be prepared for the withdrawal
This will be for short time and your mental determination is very important.

3.Do not purchase such drinks from supermarket even though they are offering you very lucrative offer like Buy one get one free.

4.Speak to your family and friends about your decision and seek their help if needed.

5.When making this decision, make sure to pick the method that fits best with your personality.

6.Replace diet soda with a different beverage.Try switching to water. If plain water just doesn't work for you, try using flavored water packets or squeeze some lemon in your drink.

If you’re craving the bubbly feeling of soda, try substituting your diet drink with mineral water, which can give you the feeling that you’re drinking something more.

If you’re drinking diet soda for the caffeine, you may have to prepare yourself for the headaches that will follow when you stop drinking soda.

7.Taking aspirin or ibuprofen will help to calm those headaches, and going to bed early can also help.

Travelling does not cause any problem, however another fact everyone has to accept that sudden problem can occur to anyone at any time so the only difference because of travelling is that one takes more time to reach for medical help in case someone has problem,

Hello doctor, I'm unmarried and I recently had sex (penis to vagina up to 6 inch) with my boyfriend for the first time. I did not bleed nor it was painful. My periods are normal n after that I never had any sex or sexual activity there after. My question is did I loose my virginity? If so can I prove my husband I'm virgin to save my marriage life.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Lucknow
Bleeding and pain during first intercourse is not sign of virginity. Bleeding occurs when hymen broken during intercourse but many other regions also to break hymen like cycling, jumping and do sexual activity like fingering. It's always not possible to bleed during first intercourse. Marriage is a faithful relationship there is no need to prove your virginity.

30 to 40 day period indicates delayed menses. Means no ovulation. Better use ovulation kit to determine whether you are ovulating or not. Or consult Dr. to rule out ocps and manage further.

What is ZIKA VIRUS? Is it Deadlier than Dengue? Is India Ready To Face the ZIKA

Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Healthcare Management, MD - Consultant Physician, Fellowship Critical Care Management
Internal Medicine Specialist, Faridabad
What is ZIKA VIRUS? Is it Deadlier than Dengue? Is India Ready To Face the ZIKA
What You Must Know About ZIKA VIRUS

Introduction to the ZIKA VIRUS:

After the deadly Yellow Fever and Ebola pandemics, Zika Virus is yet another disease borne out of the African soil and spreading across the world right now. Named after the Zika forest in Uganda, where it originated, this virus spreads through a mosquito bite - that of ‘aedes aegypti’ mosquito. It can also be passed on from mother to child, blood transfusion and sex.

What’s so deadly about ‘Aedes Aegypti’ Mosquito?

Zika Virus spreads via ‘aedes aegypti’ mosquito, same mosquito that also spreads Dengue and Chikungunya. These mosquitoes typically lay eggs in and near still water found in buckets, bowls, animal dishes, flower pots and vases. They are aggressive daytime biters, prefer to bite people, and live indoors and outdoors near people.
These mosquitoes become infected when they feed on a person already infected with the virus. Infected mosquitoes can then spread the virus to other people through bites.

Symptoms of Zika Virus Attack
A person bit by an infected mosquito takes about 2-7 days to show symptoms like:
- Mild fever
- Skin Rash
- Conjunctivitis
- Muscle and joint pain
- Weakness and Fatigue

However, it lasts no more than a week and is usually milder than its cousins Dengue or Chikungunya. Although it is not a fatal disease, the real reason behind the panic is for the women who are pregnant. Zika is found to be a major cause of microcephaly – a birth defect due to which children are born with visibly smaller heads, severely limiting their mental and physical abilities.

Should India Worry?

While it originated in the African continent, Zika has already taken South American countries like Brazil, and most others. Although the virus hasn’t reached Indian shores yet, we are very prone to mosquito borne diseases. The Dengue menace since last few years says it all. Since it is from the same family, we need to be all the more cautious.

Preventions and Precautions:

Since no vaccine exists to prevent Zika virus attack, it’s best to act with caution to prevent the spread.

1. Mosquitoes that spread Zika virus bite mostly during the daytime. Stay in places with air conditioning or that use window and door screens to keep mosquitoes outside.
2. Use Mosquito Repellents during the day when exposed to areas prone to mosquitoes and cover yourself very well.
3. Never allow water to stagnate in or around your habitation. Avoid letting the water stand for long eg: puddles, or water in buckets or potted plants, sewage etc.
