Ashwagandha is a short woody shrub that belongs to the solanaceae family. The powder is obtained from its roots. Take 1 glass of warm milk and add 2 tablespoons of ashwagandha powder to it. Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. What is your occupation at present? Well, your BP is still within normal limits. The increase in systolic pressure could be transient, mostly because of diet/ lifestyle issues including stress at study/ work. For the time being, I would advise you to check your dietary habits, especially cut down on salt, and other greesy/ oily & fatty foods including fast foods. A Mediterranean diet is advisable. Stay well hydrated too. Ensure that you streamline your lifestyle, with adequate room for relaxation and de-stressing. Also, you need to streamline your occupational aspect as well to reduce stress at work/ study. Hope this helps. You can always meet up a general physician for clinical evaluation should you not feel well still, despite having taken the above-mentioned measures. Do take care, and all the very best. Sincerely

Dear sir I have diabetes and have recently started suffering from pre mature ejaculation. Is the above mentioned churna beneficial for me. If yes what will be the dosage. And what quantity to mix.

Mr. Lybrate-user, in this communication I do not see any churna being mentioned. Anyway, as I notice you are having a morbid obesity with bmi of 41.68 kg/m2 (normal <23 kgs). This can be one of the reasons for your problems apart from diabetes itself. If blood sugar levels are not in adequate control, then erectile dysfunction and other related problems do develop. So primary need for you is to have a very strict blood sugar control and work on weight reduction. I do not think any of those chrnas will help. Only strict blood sugar control (fasting closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c%<6.8), dietary restriction and regular exercise to reduce weight are needed. Or you may have to look at bariatric surgery as an ideal option. Thanks for the question.

Bay Leaf

General Physician, Gorakhpur
Bay Leaf

The main symptoms of bronchitis include excessive coughing, difficulty breathing and a sore, inflamed throat. Bay leaves are incredibly effective remedies for bronchitis because they are rich in quercetin, a powerful antioxidant that can prevent the release of inflammatory chemicals in the body. By reducing swelling, bay leaves can clear up congestion and make it easier to breathe. This will lessen the urge to cough, thus speeding the healing process and allowing you to get back to normal faster. You can chew on bay leaves or use them in your cooking of stews or curries to benefit from these effects.

Usually this postural dizziness/vertigo is symptom of bppv (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) that occurs due to dislodgement of some particles in the ear from one place to another which can be corrected by a manouvre(epley' s). For that u should consult an ent specialist or else start tab. Vertin 16 mg three times a day.

Fruits - What Is The Right Time To Eat Them?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Fruits - What Is The Right Time To Eat Them?

We all believe that consuming fruit is an uncomplicated task that involves buying, cutting and eating the pieces. But in reality, to reap the benefits, you need to consume it at the right time. By consuming fruits at the right time, it can contribute to boost the detoxification process and help in weight loss and kick-start the metabolism process.

When is the best time to eat fruits?
Fruits comprise of different types of nutrients which offer protection against different types of diseases and infections, lower the chances of heart diseases and hypertension. If you eat fruits without proper knowledge of how to consume it, it can create problems rather than offer benefits. You should, therefore, try to eat fruits at the following timings.

  1. Empty stomach in the morning: Experts always recommend consumption of fruits on an empty stomach and in between meals. This is because digestion takes place at a fast pace during these times and the enzymes required for digestion of fruits are released easily when you are on an empty stomach. Fruits are high in simple sugars which need long hours to be completely digested by the body. Thus, if you eat fruits on an empty stomach, all the nutrients, sugar and dietary fibers are processed properly in the body. This ensures that your body gets the right quantity of nutrition from the consumption of fruits.
  2. Before and after workout: Another viable time of eating fruits is before or after exercising. You are free to eat your choicest fruits right before or immediately after working out. The body would easily utilize the sugars derived from the fruits for extracting energy before a workout. It also helps in filling back the energy content of the body if you consume fruits right after workout sessions.

Eating fruits is a simple process which is known for offering a host of benefits. But there are also numerous myths regarding the timing of consumption of fruits which need to be debunked. One such myth is that if you are suffering from high blood sugar, you should consume fruits at least one to two hours before meals. The idea behind the myth is that people with diabetes have digestive issues and eating fruits separately can improve digestion to some degree. But there is no supportive evidence for the statement.

So, it is advised to eat the fruit as a snack together with protein-packed meals which can aid in digestion. This is also beneficial as smaller amounts of sugar gets absorbed at a time which leads to the meagre amount of rising in blood sugar levels. With these few factors in mind, you can get the most out of your daily fruits consumption.
