My Angioplasty/ bmstenting was done on 29-8-13, since then I am taking Atorvastatin10 mg, Ramipril 2.5mg daily. My heart condition is quite well & my all labs reports of blood sugar, lipid profile, blood pressure are normal. Now I do not want to take these medicines further more. As per cardiologist these medicines will have to take life long period, but I am not interested to take these further more due to side effect of these in form of heavy constipation & back skin dryness & itching whole day. Please advice me regarding stopping above medicines.

You are right , these are side effects of medicines, Atovastin is to lower cholesterol but it does lead to cognitive dysfunction , strain on kidneys and heart. Some doctors are giving it twice a week, others are asking to eat less fats and keep good fats in the blood on higher side. Ramipril is ACE inhibitor with its own side effects , it is given to bring down BP. You can try Safe Beta Blockers like Metoprolol which is protective for heart also, Monitor the dose accordingly. Take more fruits and vegetables to protect heart and to add bulk to diet.

I am suffering from ring worm since a month. itching heavily below chest and thigh please suggest best medicine.
Hello, ringworm is caused by a fungus that grows on the skin. Once the fungus is established, it spreads out in rings. The centre of the ring may clear up, while a new ring of infection develops at the edge of the old ring. Fungi are microscopic organisms that can live off the dead tissues of your skin, hair, and nails, much like a mushroom can grow on the bark of a tree. Medication: take schwabe's tellurium 30/ thrice daily for 2 weeks. Management: good personal hygiene helps prevent the spread of ringworm. Teach your child to practice good hygiene and generally not to share combs, brushes, or hats. Children also shouldn't share towels, clothes, or sports equipment that haven't been properly cleaned. Avoid wearing any wet clothes, prefer cotton clothes, keep the area dry and clean. Never use others towels or clothes as well as don't share yours with others. Ringworm can also be transmitted from an infected dog or cat, so avoid animals who look mangy or have bald spots in their coats. If you have an animal that you think may have ringworm, take it to the vet for treatment.

ED Mostly medicines used to treat this problem aim at increasing blood flow towards penis but there may be some potentially serious side effects of these medicines. The patient may experience nasal congestion, dizziness, sleeplessness, headache, backache, and hot and cold flashes. Those who are already diagnosed with high or low BP, diabetes, or uncontrolled hepatitis should not take medicines recommended for erectile dysfunction. Other methods to treat the condition include erection inducing injections and testosterone implants but there are many side effects associated with these methods of treating the disease. These injections may cause painful acne, swollen gums, pain in penis, or breast enlargement. Mainly injections are known as Intracavernous drugs and suppositories are called Intraurethral medicines. Drugs prescribed for this purpose are usually taken a few minutes before intercourse and one is not allowed to use the drug more than once per day although the dosage depends on the type of the drug consult me for medicine

Hello lybrate-user, it seems your are doing a lot of work. Working time also is more. Seems like you don't get much time for your self. Work load seems to be more than you can handle. Coming back to anger management. People don't know what you are going through. And it's not their fault that you are working so much. You have to take care of your self and your health. Anger mostly arises from some deficiency of and not others. You have to learn to handle stuff and people. Regarding your bp you should definitely visit a doctor and get it checked. The body has the tendency to adjust to your stress. But if your stress level increase to such a level that the body cannot adjust anymore more and starts giving signals in the from of bp, diabetes, headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, stiffness etc. That the time one should understand that it's time to change our lifestyle and eventually our thoughts. I hope every condition is under control. Ideal diet is not according to charts. You eat according to your constitution without comparing with others. No sugar or sweets, no bad fats, only good fats like a spoon of pure ghee/ butter and a katori of assorted nuts. Minimal salts and no packaged food as it contains lots of salt, being a preservative. Lemon juice with honey but cut down on other calories (just 30 cals in a spoon of honey) it helps to burn the fat and sugar. Fruits like guava, orange, apple can be had. Exercise like walking also burns sugar and fats.

Hello dear High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . Cap. Ecosprin gold-10 at night daily.

Dear lybrate-user, I can feel your concern for your father's health. Firstly understand that every medicine you take will have some side effects but we as doctors choose the best in each category. Also, by taking medications for diabetes control we can reduce the rate of complications and hence taking medicines is better option than leaving diabetes untreated or treating it with unconventional means!

Dear lybrate user, you are stressed out and you know that you are stressed out. The problem is that stress becomes more and more difficult to manage when we start accepting that particular situations and activities will bring back the stress in us. In your case it is talking with another person. So you know that when you talk to somebody you will have shivering and high heart rate and since you have already observed this thing about yourself-this has become a recurring phenomenon in your life. First of all dissociate yourself with this fact by again in again repeating this activity and situation. Don't avoid talking with people. In fact make it a habit to talk to as many people as possible. You will have initial difficulty but as and when you continue giving yourself the same situation the difficulty in managing that situation will keep on fading and one day it will completely vanish. This is the best way that you can manage and conquer your fears. Regards
