Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to have a persistent back pain as a health issue. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Hi Apply pranacharya restopain oil or prasarini oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. And agni tundi vati and maha yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day.. .

I am 68 years old suffering from knee joint pains. Doctors advised for knee replacemnt surgery. But is their any medicine or ointment to cure the pain. I am managing to walk but cannot climb stairs. Please advise.

Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

To break that fatigue it is advisable to drink or eat protein and mineral food which would be a reservoir for you to store the energy. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having body pain and laxity through out.

In a bike accident on 8/7/2016 my right lower femur fractured. There was no other injuries. I have been operated on 22/7/2016 with internal fixation plate. I was discharged on 6.8.2016 from hospital after cutting of my stich. In first review x-ray there was remarkable improvement in healing of the bone and callus were noticed. Surgeon advised my for non weight bearing for 02 more months. He also advised me for quadriceps drill and knee bending exercise. But I am facing problem in bending my knee. I feared in case of bending the bone get non union again. Is there any chance of non union during knee bending? Can physiotherapy help be taken for knee bending exercise. As I still in bed rest rest and using bed pan and urine pot for toilet. Can I use walker for going to toilet, bath and slow moving in the home at this stage? How time is require for complete healing of the bone? WHEN I COULD RETURN TO MY JOB AS MY JOB IS CLERICAL NATURE RAILWAY JOB.

As your fracture is already fixed ,you need not worry about displacement of fracture or of non union at all. After any fracture fixation ,It is advised to start active range of motion exercises as early as possible. This prevents the joints from getting stiff, increases blood supply to the fractured bone and thus helps in better healing of bone. This movement exercises do not hamper callus formation in any way but in fact they encourage callus formation and early recovery. If the fixation is good you need not worry about the bending of bone on exercising. Taking physiotherapy helps, but ask you physio to be gentle You should use walker for your daily activities without putting weight on the operated limb. You can take a physio help for that.

Requires detailed examination and investigation. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Depends on what medicine you are taking. But generally there are no long term effects of adhd medicines. Atomoxetin can effect liver function tests but it is reversible on stopping the medicine. Methylphenidate is safe and has no long term effects. Regarding spine block injections kindly discuss with an orthopedic surgeon.

Hello lybrate-user, If you wish to feel energetic, less slee[py and perform well in the coming board exams ,follow the following tips: EXAM TIPS 1)Eat a healthy breakfast every morning. You should have a goal of eating breakfast every single morning, even if you're not feeling hungry or are running out of time. Eating breakfast will not only give you more energy in the mornings, but it has been shown to lower stress. You shouldn't eat anything too greasy or heavy; just eat enough to make yourself feel powered up. Examples are: A bowl of milk and cornflakes, one banana, 2 boiled eggs and a grilled vegetable sandwhich. 2)Eat every 3-4 hours. Even if you have an incredibly busy schedule, you can always take a minute to eat a snack, especially if you have one on hand. Instead of eating three big meals that leave you stuffed, have three medium-sized meals along with two snacks, one in between breakfast and lunch, and one between lunch and dinner, and see how much your energy levels improve. Examples are: Nuts like almond, raisins, walnuts. Flavoured yoghurt, bowl of fruit or a glass of fresh fruit juice, berries. 3)Avoid eating oily and heavy meals, rice as these foods need a lot of energy to get digested and leaves you sluggish. Instead eat steamed food like Idli, poha, upma, multigrain sandwich with juice. 4)Drink lots of water. It's important to stay hydrated throughout the day. Even mild dehydration can lead you to be fatigued, so wherever you go, make sure to bring a water bottle. Drink atleast 7-8 glasses water. 5)Limit your caffeine intake after noon. Though caffeine can really boost your energy levels during a few hours after you drink it, if you have caffeine after noon or even in the evening, it will disrupt your sleep. 6)Go outside. Take a break and go outside, breathe some fresh air, and let the sun hit your face. Spending just 20-30 minutes outside each day will have a dramatic impact on your energy level. 7)Follow the 50: 10 rule: Study for 50 min and give yourself a break for 10 min to assimilate what you have read. Also take a power nap immediately after lunch as you feel most drowsy then 8)Smell lavender. Have a lavender plant or lavender lotion on hand so you can smell it in moments of need or when stressed out. It's been known to help students perform better on tests, and it has the power to make you more energetic throughout the day. 9).Destress: Listen to music, take a 15 min short refreshing walk in the garden nearby, splash cold water on your face.

1. Start with Physiotherapy treatment. 2. Learn spinal exercises. 3. Use lumber spine belt. 4. Don't sit on floor. 5. Don't lift heavy things. 6. Apply volini cream before sleeping. 7. Do Hot fermentation twice a day 8. Take calcium, vitamin D 3 and Methylcobalmine supplement for one month minimum.

I am 38 years old and have slip disc, tried two orthopedics and two neuro surgeons not free from pain. I have been having following symptoms from 06-09-2016 onwards Also I have following symptoms My name is D Siva Sai Ram and I am from Bangalore, I have below symptoms from September 6th 2016 onward. 1) can not sit in chair for long as there is total discomfort and pain on the upper back and neck, feel like lying down very often 2) pains on the back, buttocks, legs, numbness in legs, itching, burning sometime at lower back 3) muscle weakness in legs and arms 4) while sleeping uncomfortable feeling in neck, head, back and upper back 5) chest discomfort, vomit sensation - very often 6) weakness, unable to focus or concentrate for long and lack of focus/concentration and feeling sleepy 7) when getting up from chair or from squatting there is full giddiness/chakkar, also I get pain in left and right thigh when getting up from chair 8) muscle spams while sleeping (sudden jerks) in legs and hands 9) when I bend forward, backward or side ward even slightly I get pain in the hip or back 10) sciatica pain in left leg and numbness in right leg very often Also find the MRI report summary below MRI report says below small sized posterocentral and left paracentral disc extrusion is noted at L2-3 level compressing the thecalsac. Mid left lateral recess narrowing is seen at this level indentation of the traversing left L3 nerve root small left far lateral (extra foranimal) disc protrusion is see at L5-S1 level indenting the exiting left L5 nerve root mild lumbar spondylosis changes are seen with anterior osteophytes lipping at multiple levels. Degenerative hypertrophy of the bilateral facets is noted at L4-5 level I have taken complete bed rest for one week and then took pelvic traction for another week in hospital after that trying to do normal daily activities, but I cannot do. Quality of life is pathetic, how much period treatment is needed please guide.

Is it confirmed on MRI. If not you need to get an MRI done first. Then visit an orthopedic surgeon who would assess the severity of the condition. Minor bulges may be taken care off with medicine and lifestyle changes. However severe ones may require surgery depending on your health status.

Goodevening your joint pain can be due to mild arthritic changes. So please follow a few active exercises for your wrist and your hands. Do a hot and cold fermentation for your hand. Certain climatic changes can also cause pain to come.

I am 35 year old doing regular Zym. But From last 8 month I am suffering from muscle pain in my left shoulder due to light disbalance of weight during exercise. Hello Lybrate user according to Ayurveda Vata vikriti is the main factor for pain. Treatment- 1-apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation. 2-take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. 3-Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. 4-Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Diet- Avoid fermented food. Junk food. Potato rice. Sleep well.

I am 72 years old. My height is 5'7.5" and weight 64 Kg. I am feeling pain in fingers of my left hand and also knees. I am taking one tab of Mega Free Flex and one tablet of CetJoint. Could you please let me know if I should add some more tablet or powder in my daily routine.
