How To Prevent Heart Disease And Keep It Under Control

Regular exercises like brisk walking, jogging according your capacity atleast 30 min a day and 5 to 7 days a week in nearly all peoples. Regular exercises helps in reducing weight, decrease lipid level and blood pressure and also helps in controlling blood sugars.
One should have a healthy lifestyle like avoiding fatty, oily and high calorie diet. Individuals should consume five or more servings of fruits and/or vegetables daily. This decreases the risk of coronary heart disease. Individuals should replace refined grains like white bread, white rice with whole grains whole bread and brown rice. This reduces chances of weight gain, coronary artery disease, diabetes.
Should avoid red meat and instead have sea foods, eggs, beans, nuts and seeds as a source of protein. The recommended dietary sodium intake for the general population is less than 2.3 g of sodium or 6 g of sodium chloride. Low sodium intake is associated with decreased risk of hypertension and cardiovascular events, including death.
Avoid smoking and alcohol if any. Sweetened beverages should be avoided. There shouldn't abdominal fat deposition or obesity. Yoga should be included in daily routine and has multiple health benefits.
The american diabetes association (ada) recommends testing at three-year intervals for diabetes in all adults with bmi ≥25 kg/m2 and one or more additional risk factors for diabetes family history, sedentary lifestyle, smoking etc and in individuals without risk factors, testing begin at age 45 years. Also, the individual with risk for heart diseases should be screened for lipid abnormalities.

You don't need any sugar medications. Continue exercising and eating well. Your triglyceride is not so high that it requires medications, I hope you are taking these medications after consultation with a doctor. Also Evion is not a medicine to be taken continuously otherwise it can lead to overdose toxicity. And you have wrongly mentioned udiliv as urimax. Please consult a local cardiologist if you require a prescription or consult me personally.

I am experiencing chest pain, discomfort on left side (front and back chest, and left upper arm). So far, doctors have performed Echo (clear, no issues indicated), TMT (when the technician stopped it, it showed Max HR 152 bpm 83% of max predicted 179 bpm. Max BP 160/100. Remarks say -" Good effort tolerance. No Angina or Arrhythmia. No Significant ST-T changes found), Endoscopy (didn't show any ulcers or any issues, normal mucosa), and Ultrasound scan of abdomen (only issue as per report is Fatty Liver measuring 17.5 cms). However, I have been to emergency room 4 times during last 1 month due to chest pain, sweating, etc. Everytime, they did ECG and Troponin tests and then sent me home after giving Pantoprazole injection. Doctor says I don't have any heart related condition. According to him, I have" Non-ulcer Dyspepsia" that is being worsened by my anxiety and panic. He has suggested - Pantodac DSR (twice a day), Atorvastatin 10 mg (at night), and Alprazolam 0.25 (at night). My cardiologist says that since TMT and Echo were normal, there is no possibility of a heart attack. I asked him whether I should undergo any further tests like CT Angiography to rule out any blockages etc. He told me very clearly that I am panicking for no reason and I should consult a psychiatrist. He says that my pain is result of anxiety and panic. I tried explaining to him that I do get anxiety and panic but it happens after I get chest pain, sweating, and breathlessness. What to do now? Should I consult another cardiologist? Is a clear TMT indicator that there is no risk of a heart attack? Is a clear Echo indicator that there are no other heart issues?

Dear lybrate user, -you have undergone most of the tests & since they were normal the cardiologist has not advised further testing so do not panic & take the prescribed medicines, sometimes acidity also causes similar symptoms. -engage yourself in various activities like walking for 20-30 min daily, yoga, meditation & other day to day activities. -avoid spicy & fried food -give sometime to the medicines to take effect -if you donot find any improvement then go for a second opinion.

Dear lybrateuser, - Your triglycerides & total cholesterol are high & hdl cholesterol is low - the levels can be corrected by diet & regular exercise as otherwise it leads to cholesterol deposit in the heart & blood vessels which can result in decrease of blood supply & a heart attack or a coronary artery disease or peripheral artery disease - avoid deep fried, processed & junk foods, also foods containing trans & saturated fats - have more of fibre containing foods such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, sprouts, nuts( a handful daily), soya products, have low fat dairy - have heart healthy fats as in fish like salmon, tuna, mackeral, nuts such as walnuts, almonds, avocados, seeds such as flax, sesame, olive, canola & sunflower oil - do regular exercise like brisk walking, jogging, swimming, play a game, do yoga & deep breathing - avoid alcohol & smoking if you do, also restrict intake of carbohydrates, refined foods & increase intake of fibre containing foods & proteins.

Yes some tiny holes do close on its own as the baby grows but you have to be extra careful in observation of blue color on exertion like crying, not getting infections, getting vaccinations on time (this has to be observed for every new born baby up to a year- 1st summer/winter & autum is difficult for every baby) good luck and take care.

Recently, Nov. 28th I was treated for heart attack and 2 stents inserted. Dr. advised that another block is there and it is very thin and thin stent to be placed and urged me to do at the earliest. After first angioplasty I started doing some walking exercise and other works. I am retired aged 60 years. Since already spent a large amount for angioplasty and another angio which cost high can be done a little later. Is it ok to do since I don't have any problem like pain etc. I heard there is an hospital - Puttaburthi Sai Baba hospital in Bangalore where it would cheap. I am living in Chennai. Pls advise.

Narayna Hriday hospital by Dr. Devi Shetty is also around Bangalore. Confirm. 3rd stent may not be needed as collaterals blood vessels take over the task of blocked vessels of the heart , since you do not have any symptoms. My suggestion to everyone is , if there are more than 2 blocks , a by pass surgery is better tolerated than multiple stents. Take care.

I have chest pain from time to time from last one year, what can I do for this problem?
hi! i would suggest you to try following remedy Cayenne pepper can provide relief from chest pain. It contains a high concentration of capsaicin, which has anti-inflammatory properties. It also works as a blood regulator to help restore blood flow to the heart. Add ½ or 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder to a glass of milk or any fruit juice. Drink it and soon the pain will be gone.
