Know how Knee and Back injuries can be treated

My name is Amin Khan, physiotherapist. My working area is Bandra West, Kurla West and Powai Area. Now we are here to discuss about the most common injuries of the body like back injuries and knee injuries. Nowadays, the most common injuries can be treated at home with exercises. We are discussing here about home remedies to treat back and knee injuries.

For back injury, we can start with the first exercises. Lift your hip for 5 seconds, then release. Then straighten your legs up and down. Bend your knee towards your chest and hold that position for five seconds and release. After the exercises you can try stand up exercises and side to side bending of your hip. These exercises are helpful in reliveing pain of your minor injuries. If these exercises are not helpful, you can try other exercises. Start by the ankle toe movement and slowly press down and put the towel under the knee and hold for five seconds. Contract your muscles and then release. Then, lift one knee and press for few seconds on top of your knee and then release. You can do the same movement for your right leg. Ice, compression and elevation can help reduce the pain of knee injuries.

For more information, you can contact me on Lybrate.

Beat Infertility

Masters in Human Nutrition and Nutraceuticals
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Madurai
Beat Infertility

Infertility is the term usually described to a condition when a “woman” who is unable to conceive even after 6 months of unprotected sex. Its usually a self diagnosable condition which is treated by medical professional. A woman should seek a medical treatment when she is 35 or above by trying more than 6 months of unprotected sex. There are several treatments like “invitro” fertilization that provides good results for the infertile couples.
The main cause may include irregular periods, thyroid problems, diabetes, or hormonal imbalances.

As a dietitian, I would extend my hands and request you all people reading this to join my hands and lets begin to beat infertility through dietary modifications and lifestyle pattern changes.

Here are the foods to be avoided while you are trying to conceive.

Red meat since it possess high ammonia, that would interfere in the implantation of uterus. Its high acidic content, reduces the sperm cell count and lead to infertile condition.

Avoid trans fats in baked foods, processed foods, fried foods, in simple avoid eating out. Have a healthy foods prepared in home with less oils. The consumption may decrease your insulin and so makes you diabetic.

Avoid refined sugars instead take honey, jaggery, for sweetness.

It’s good to avoid non organic chicken that may produce imbalance in your hormones and thus leading to infertility.

Complete avoidance of alcohol

So, its not about the complete avoidance, you can have it occasionally. So be chill that you wont be pushed to that extreme of total abstinence to these foods. But there are some foods that I would prefer you to consume often or even daily. Here is the list

Beans, the vegetable with full of vitamins and minerals, provides you all healthy beneficiaries, as it aids in the digestion, keeps your body toxic free, so that the sperms that enters have a healthy atmosphere for development.

Leafy vegetables the essential food in all healthy diet plan, since it contains folate the vitamin, that is required for improving ovulation.

Pumpkin, specially its seeds, for the iron it provides.

Take complex carbs like whole wheat, brown rice, etc. As it may protect you from getting diabetes.

Olive oil possessing good amount of monounsaturated oil, helps in lowering the inflammation if there is any.

Painful and heavy periods may be physiological or dysfunctional that is where no obvious cause can be found. Or it may be related to uterine tumors/ ovarian cysts /endometriosis.etc; I would advice you to get a transvaginal USG done if you are worried.

My wife HCG beta report has came 714.50 value is the value ok for pregnancy. Doctor has advised to take further test again.

My wife HCG beta report has came 714.50 value is the value ok for pregnancy. Doctor has advised to take further test ...
Any positive level of beta hCG above 5 mIu/ml indicates a pregnancy has started (unless the test is done to early following an HCG trigger injection). A blood hCG number over 100 is a good first beta result but many, many ongoing pregnancies start out with a beta hCG level below that number.

Hi, I think your wife should be evaluated first. Do a ultrasound for her uterus and ovaries. Pain during periods may occur because of many factors. So, if any treatment is required, it can be started. Also, you can try 6 more months naturally. Be in contact with your wife every 2 to 3 days after the periods stop. It will increase chances of getting pregnant. Hope I have answered your question.

First thing is to do evaluation of your husband’s sperm count. If its normal than you should get your examination, lab reports and ultrasound. If everything is normal than keep relation during fertile days. Usually fertile days are between 12 and 18 days of your normal menstrual cycle. Remaining days are relatively infertile. Still if you do not get result than should do IUI treatment.

How can one stabilize hormones to treat PCOS condition naturally . Rather than supplement with hormones for regularizing menstrual periods at the age of 14.

MD - Maternity & Child Health
Gynaecologist, Bangalore
Do not go for hormonal treatment at 14 yrs. It takes two to three yrs to get stablized. It is quite natural at this age. Hormonal cycle in brain has to get matured to get regular cycles.

Pregnancy is possible only on one day of cycle meaning on day of ovulation. So couple has to give enough time to nature i.e. 12-24 months. If this time is given or if you are impatient it needs examination of both, reports of both so meet Gynecologist or infertility specialist. In that case also must have patience as reports and treatment both take time.

I have recently became a father of a child but my wife is not able to breastfeed my child due to very low milk being able to produce .kindly tell me the reason for it and the solution as well. please suggest asap.

MD PHYSICIAN
General Physician, Delhi
Nursing is a supply & demand process. Milk is produced as your baby nurses, and the amount that she/he nurses lets your body know how much milk is required. And tries to produce sufficient amount accordingly, to improve milk quantity just take a well balanced diet mainly proteins including egg, dairy products, chicken, fish etc. Baby sucking is the impulse which helps milk let down, giving a warm compress over breast can also open up the ducts and let milk pass freely. You can take medications like perinorm etc to increase milk production.
