My mother is 53 years old. Recently she started sensing some irritation in her throat and yesterday she was going through endoscopy test and impression was ulcer in throat with elevated margin of 23. Dr. advice for biopsy test. Is that simple ulcer or any cancer cause?

Biopsy test is done to rule out if the lump is cancerous or not. Only after the result of biopsy one can say anything.

You have to get your blood pressures and sugar levels controlled by medications. Dizziness occurs due to high bp also. Also reduce salt in your diet. And do proper excercises. Take care.

There are 2 kinds of tulsi leaves we come across. One is" ram tulsi" (which is lighter in shade) and the other one is" shyam tulsi" (which is darker in shade) you have to consume 10-15 leaves of" shyam tulsi" which means the leaves with darker shade. Take 20 to 25 leaves of shyam tulsi and grind it into a paste. Boil this paste in 100 ml of water until the water comes down to the level of 50 ml. Then mix 1 table spoon honey or jaggery in it. Consume this water swallowing (never chew tulsi because it has mercury in it will damage your teeth) the leave remains daily in 3 installments without break. I guarantee you that you will feel better instantly and will get a permanent cure in some days. Besides natural remedies doesn't even have any side effects along with them. Besides keep yourself warm and away from cold/heat. Tulsi has the power to bring down all types of fever, weakness, fatigue. Dosage: twice or thrice a day (make in morning with 20-25 leaves and consume it in one day, do not keep in refrigerator, put in glass vessel)

I have one fluctuating tumour under my jaws and between neck on both side. What should I do.

MBBS, Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), DNB (ENT)

It may not be tumour and may not be fluctuating also. Looking at the position it could be lymph node. Very common if there is throat, nose or oral cavity infection. Get it checked by ent specialist.

I'm suffering from Vertigo. When I wake up or going to sleep it starts and it is for very short period or moment. I m taking homeopathic treatment.what can be done for this condition?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS

A modified epley maneuver is a type of physical therapy often prescribed that involves head and body movements done while sitting on a bed. Traditionally, it is performed in a doctor or physical therapist's office, but it may also be prescribed to do at home. Once a patient has received proper instruction, this maneuver can resolve symptoms within a week for many patients. Vitamin d supplementation may be beneficial for patients diagnosed with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Your doctor can check to see if you have a vitamin d deficiency. Herbal remedies such as ginger root, ginkgo biloba, and coriander may help reduce vertigo symptoms in some people. Acupuncture may be helpful in resolving symptoms of some types of vertigo.

My ear is paining since two weeks. I think it is because recently I put some pins and sticks to remove dust. What should I do now?

D.N.B, D.L.O
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Hi firstly you should never clean your ears either ear buds or pins. You will injure either the canal skin or the ear drum leading to a hole in drum which causes reduced hearing over a time. Now that ear is paining avoid any ear drops and keep ears dry no water goes in while taking bath. Take paracetamol for pain. Get an ent consultation to make sure the ear drum is not injured.

Allergy is the cause of your symptoms. You will have to take the ant allergic tablets for a month or two. A streroid nasal spray has to be used for again a month or two to get that relief.

Sir, My age 23y suffering from persistent headache and cough with minor fever due to sinus problem from almost 8+ years. I was treated by lots of antibiotics, decongestant, nasal spray but all gone in vain. My CT PNS showed blockage of bilateral infundibulum and maxillary antrum due to large bilateral haller cells And mild polypoidal mucosal thickening in both maxillary sinuses. Which I think allergic and fungal. In addition there is thickening of both inferior nasal turbinates. I lost somewhat food taste and severe allergy to foods. I feel like some solid in my sinuses and severe tightness below nose which make my breathing difficult and painful. I want sinus surgery done for this please help me and also tell the cost. Thank You.

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
Weather change and anatomical variation of the nose leads to change in the aerodynamics of the nose hence leads to watery nose this most of the time is over snsitivity on nose to outer environment, and we consider this as allergy all the time. Sinus is a normal roomy structure around nasal cavity its infection called sinusitis, if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusits and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusiits. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopically. Everything is explained in this, I hope this will benefit you.

Constant Ringing in Ears - Causes + Treatment

MBBS, MS - ENT

Constant Ringing in Ears - Causes + Treatment

Tinnitus is a disorder which is characterized by a constant perception of a ringing noise in the ears. This is not the condition in itself, rather it signals some other underlying condition such as an ear injury or age related hearing loss. It is not a serious condition, although the symptoms can worsen with age. If you are affected by this disorder, you might experience or ‘hear’ a constant ringing sensation in the ears, even if there are no external sources of noise. These sounds could range from being a buzzing, ringing, to a hissing sound. This condition has mighty chances of interfering with your daily routine.

It is classified into two types:

  1. Objective tinnitus: This disorder is caused by muscle contractions or a blood vessel problem.
  2. Subjective tinnitus: The more commonly occurring type, it is caused by damage to the auditory nerves or regions of the brain that interpret sound.

The causes of this disorder are:

  1. Exposure to loud noise: If you are exposed to loud noises such as the ones emanating from firearms or heavy machinery over a prolonged period, it can lead to tinnitus.
  2. Aging: Aging can cause progressive loss of hearing, thus triggering tinnitus.
  3. Blockage of the ear: There is earwax present in the ears, the function of which is to trap dirt and bacteria. Excessive earwax accumulation leads to loss of hearing, resulting in tinnitus.
  4. Modifications of the ear bone: Any stiffening of the middle bone in the ear could impair your hearing and result in this condition.

Certain factors such as smoking, age, sex (men are prone to this disorder) and heart related disorders increase the risks of being affected by this condition.

Treatment
The treatment of this condition begins with the identification of the underlying condition, if any. The various treatment options are –

  1. Removal of earwax: Excess earwax has gotten rid of which can relieve symptoms of tinnitus.
  2. Suppression of noise: Certain machines, known as white noise machines, produce random sounds such as the sound of rain or the sounds of waves, thus eliminating the ‘hearing’ of sounds which are common to this condition.
  3. Medications: Certain medications such as alprazolam and nortriptyline can help reduce the severity of the symptoms. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ent-specialist.

I am a 16 years old guy I have sinus from last 2 years. I want a quick medicine for it. So plzzz provide me that medicine as earliest as possible. My name is Pranay kadam.

B H M S, MD
Homeopath, Thrissur
Sinusitis is a chronic disease which has got a definite cause and its to inform you that it cannot be treated quick. The causes of sinusitis are multiple. It may be allergic. It may be due to dns or deviated nasal septum etc. So go for a ent consultation to know the cause. In homoeopathy we use to go for the proneness of some individuals to get it and this proneness has to be treated after assessing your genetic make up which will cure your disease.

"For Sinus and Nose problems, try taking steam inhalation for 3 times a day. To know how to take steam, please read instructions below to know - how to take steam inhalation for best results. If problem is not solved in 2-3 days, you may need additional medicines. Techniques to steam 1) Boil a pot of water. 2) Pour water into a large flat pan or bowl. If you use a casserole, water will remain warm for longer duration. 3) Place your head over the bowl at a distance of 1 feet. 4) Cover your head and bowl with a large towel (like a tent), take long breath through your nose and breath out through mouth. Take a break every 1-2 minutes until you feel relatively cooler. Do it for 10 minute twice or thrice a day. If you feel that the treatment is getting too much for you, raise the towel so that fresh air is brought into the area and breathe through your mouth a couple of times and then resume Take care - Take all precautions while dealing with hot water. Also, keep children away and wan others that you are dealing with boiling hot water. Other way is - by an Electric steamer available in market and take steam through it. It is more convenient. "
