I am developed stretch marks near my shoulder, underarm and on my hip and tigh too. I am 20 years guy. How will I get rid of this.

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Nutrition Certification,Registered Dietitian
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
Strectch marks occur due to sudden stretching or sagging of the skin. Stretch marks also depends on the elasticity of a person’s skin and the skin elasticity depends on the vitamins like vitamin E, omega 3 & 6. Strech marks take a long time to fade, so patience is the key to deal with stretch marks. To lighten the appearance of stretch marks – 1.Scrub the area lightly once a day. You can use some natural ingredients like gramflour, turmeric mixed with some milk to scrub the area. 2.Apply Vitamin E oil or warm olive oil on the area. 3.Apply Aloe Vera gel once a day on the area 4.Cocoa butter mixed with wheat germ oil is also very good at maintaining the skin health and reduce appearance of the skin. 5.You can also apply creams like Elastoderm stretch mark cream to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Apply this cream daily to see results in few months. 6.Consume diet that is rich in vitamin E, omega 3 and 6 and other skin friendly vitamins like vitamin E and A. 7.Keep yourself hydrated. Drink atleast 8-10 glasses of water to keep your skin soft and supple.

As your skin is oily you said, you need to wash your face with mild soap, avoiding any creams application is good. Take more water, fruits, vegetables, oilless, spice less, food, avoid taking junk/fast food is major precaution required. Medically, take bakson's acne aid tablets daily 2-3 in number twice r thrice/day with external application of the same cream. Take internally echinacea mother tincture daily twice 10-15 drops in 1/4th cup of water daily.

6 Foods that Can Help You to Get a Glowing Skin

We are all aware of how certain foods affect our overall health and weight. There are foods that work more than just boosting your metabolism or keeping a check on your blood sugar levels. Some foods can even improve your skin’s quality!

Here are some foods you can incorporate in your diet for healthy, glowing skin:

  1. Tomatoes: The chemical that imparts tomato its red colour, lycopene, has amazing benefits for your skin. Lycopene is an antioxidant that can brighten skin and slow down aging. The best way to reap its benefits is to eat tomato-based foods 3-5 times in a week.

  2. Green Tea: Loaded with antioxidants, and acne-fighting powers, the humble green tea can protect your skin like no other. From acne to dull skin to aging, 3 to 5 cups of green tea can keep all that at bay, and give you healthy, glowing skin.

  3. Berries: Berries that are deeply coloured, such as cherries, strawberries and blueberries, are packed with antioxidants, which can counter blemishes and add that coveted glow to your face.

  4. Seafood and Fish: Seafood and fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids—a source of good fats. Eating good amounts of fats actually slows the process of wrinkling and combats acne problems, and everybody knows these two skin problems are a glowing skin’s biggest enemies. You can eat 5 servings of fish in a week to make your skin supple and glow.

  5. Pumpkin Seeds: It’s not surprising that pumpkin seeds are called superfoods. These minuscule seeds contain numerous essential minerals like zinc, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, and manganese. They are rich in antioxidants and provide generous quantities of vitamins E and A, and contain essential vitamins including vitamin K and B. It protects your cell membranes, helps maintain collagen, promotes skin renewal, and anti-aging skin care. Enjoy pumpkin seeds on their own as a snack, add them into a homemade trail mix, or sprinkle them on yogurt or oatmeal.

  6. Carrots: Carrots are rich in beta carotene, which prevents cell degeneration. It slows down aging and adds a healthy glow to your skin. Carrots contain vitamin A, which has been found to have beneficial effects on wrinkles, lines and dull skin. You can drink carrot juice, or put them in your salads to get maximum benefits. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Hello, can any one tell me. How laser treatment helps to remove stitch marks (scars. And what is the cost of treatment in India.

MBBS, MD - MD- Skin & VD
Dermatologist, Ahmedabad
Laser treatment uses powerful fractional laser technology to reduce the look of scars without harming surrounding skin. It is a non surgical method. Laser scar treatment uses short pulses of micro-fine laser light to reach deeply into the skin's sub-layers, treating the support structure. The cost depends on the type of scar. It can be removed in mere 5000 rupees or it may even take 50, 000 to get rid of them if the area is big.

Do let me know if you also have blackheads with pimples? and what current medications and remedies you already tried to treat acne? acne is a common problem in teen. Almost everybody will get pimples during their teen years. First, don't try to self treat acne. Some popular nonprescription acne lotions, cleansers and other skin products can cause a serious reaction (rare), mostly it is normal to have acne in teenage. For pimples it's important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface, avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin e or any self prescribed preparations on scars or pimples. Increasing the intake of omega-3 fatty acids through a diet significantly rich in fish and seafood results in lower rates of an inflammatory disease like acne. A low-glycemic-index diet also reduces acne risk. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies.

Hi. Let me you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent which is called 'Hairloss' rather and leads to bald areas of smooth and shiny surface. In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up which subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or hairloss- hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormaonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger any other underlying diseases, etc. Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smooking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200/ twice a day and Lycopodium 200/ one dose once a week - both for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, take Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. (N.B.: With the help of homoeopathic medicines, we can only prevent further progress of the hairloss, means it will get arrests in the present condition in case of progressive baldness). Get your blood tested for (empty stomach) - CBC, S. Iron, S. Folic acid, S. Ferritin, S. Calcium, S. Vitamin D3, S. Vitamin B12. If there is any family history of Thyroid dysfunction, get Thyroid function test done as well.

Red Face ?

Rosacea

Overviewsymptoms

Rosacea: signs and symptoms

Rosacea causes more than a red face. There are many signs (what you can see) and symptoms (what a person feels) of rosacea.

Because rosacea has so many signs and symptoms, scientists created 4 subtypes of rosacea. Some people have more than one rosacea subtype at the same time. Each subtype requires different treatment.

Rosacea: people with this subtype of rosacea, also called etr, often have very sensitive skin.
Subtype 1: facial redness, flushing, visible blood vessels

Signs and symptoms

Flushing and redness in the center of the face. Visible broken blood vessels (spider veins. Swollen skin. The skin may be very sensitive. The skin may sting and burn. Dry skin, roughness or scaling. Have a tendency to flush or blush more easily than other people.

Acne rosacea: this subtype of rosacea is most common in middle-aged women.
Subtype 2: acne-like breakouts

Signs and symptoms

Acne-like breakouts, usually where the skin is very red. Acne-like breakouts tend to come and go. Oily skin. The skin may be very sensitive. The skin may burn and sting. Visible broken blood vessels (spider veins. Raised patches of skin called plaques

Subtype 3: thickening skin

Signs and symptoms
Rhinophyma: although rare, rosacea can cause the skin to thicken and have a bumpy texture. When this happens, it is called rhinophyma.
This subtype is rare. When it does occur, the person often has signs and symptoms of another subtype of rosacea first. The signs of this subtype are:

Bumpy texture to the skin. Skin begins to thicken, especially common on the nose. When the skin thickens on the nose, it is called rhinophyma (rye-no-fie-ma. The skin may thicken on the chin, forehead, cheeks, and ears. Visible broken blood vessels appear. Pores look large. Oily skin.

Subtype 4: in the eyes

Signs and symptoms

Ocular rosacea: when rosacea affects the eye, it is called ocular rosacea. If rosacea affects your eye, you may need to see an ophthalmologist ( a doctor who specializes in treating eye diseases).
Some people get rosacea in their eyes. The eyes may have one or more of the following:

Watery or bloodshot appearance. Feel gritty, often feels like sand in the eyes. Eyes burn or sting. Eyes are very dry. Eyes itch. Eyes sensitive to light. Blurry vision. Visible broken blood vessels on an eyelid. Cyst on the eyelid. A person cannot see as well as before.

Rosacea can affect quality of life

Rosacea can affect more than the skin and eyes. Because rosacea is a chronic (long-lasting) skin disease, it can reduce a person's quality of life. Many people report problems at work, in their marriage, and with meeting new people. Surveys and studies report that living with rosacea can cause:

Feelings of frustration and embarrassment: in surveys conducted by the national rosacea society, 41 percent said their rosacea caused them to avoid public contact or cancel social engagements.

Worry: people worry that their rosacea will get worse or cause scars. People worry about side effects from medicine used to treat rosacea.

Low self-esteem: surveys conducted by the national rosacea society found that almost 70 percent of people living with rosacea said that the condition lowered their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Work-related problems: surveys conducted by the national rosacea society find that when rosacea is severe, 70 percent of people say the disease affects their interactions at work. Nearly 30 percent say that rosacea causes them to miss work.

Anxiety and depression: living with a skin condition that flares unexpectedly can cause people to believe you have a drinking problem. This can cause anxiety and depression.

Treatment seems to improve a person's quality of life. Studies show that when people have fewer signs and symptoms of rosacea, their quality of life improves.

Some years ago my skin was brighten, but now it becomes dull for playing in sunlight, college. So, how can I get a balanced skin colour, not a dull look?
