I am suffering from spondylitis for the last 3 years. During this period on three occasions, I suffered giddiness and was not able to move from bed. I was treated with betavert 16. Now I am ok to some extend. My doctor advised me to have traction. Is it safe? any relationship between giddiness and spondylitis. Kindly help and advise.

Traction is absolutely safe. Its to maintain inter vertebral space to keep the nerves from undue pressure which is caused by reduction in spaces or development of osteophytes etc. Vessels are also compressed. Because of compression in vertebral column, the blood supply to brain is also lowered sometimes thereby causing giddiness. When you lie down blood supply to brain is restored. Similarly pressure on nerves makes life tough.

Cramps

A principle cause of leg pain is a cramp or muscle spasm, often known as a charley horse. Muscle fatigue, dehydration, and some medications—such as diuretics and statins—can all lead to leg cramps.

Injury

Leg pain is also frequently a sign of injury, such as:

muscle strainstendonitis (an inflamed tendon)shin splints (pain in the lower front of your leg after overuse)stress fractures

Medical Conditions

Certain medical conditions commonly lead to leg pain. These include:

atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot caused by long periods of bed rest)
arthritis
gout
varicose (spider) veins
the presence of infection in the bone or tissues of the leg
nerve damage (often as a result of conditions such as diabetes)

Last month I got periods again after 14 days counting day one as first day. And this time it was for 10 days. 3/4 days Before commencement I used to get pinching pain only I the tip of my breasts. It went away after the period started those ended on 6th march. Again I M getting pain in the tips. Some times its really bad, I have to hold them, rub gently, press lightly for few mins. It's more on one side. FYI I am going through a lot of stress. Stress beyond my capabilities. Nowadays. Financial crises, no mediclaim. Is it due to that.. Or is this Menopause. Please help. Pleaaassseee.

Irregualr menses durin 43 years age is common because of perimenopause. During this phase hormones are on decline and along with stress menses can come like this. Brest pain is also suggestive of hormonal disturbance. As it is happening more than once you should get ultrasound done and pap test to find out the exact cause and accordingly it can be treated.

Hello, 1. You can apply volini gel 1% local application twice a day for 3-5 days 2. Hot fomentation twice a day for 3 days I am giving to some common reasons for leg pain 1. Generalized weakness 2. Anaemia 3. Physical exertion and any trauma 4. Lack of protein in diet 5. Any infection present on leg or foot 6. Muscle weakness 7. Abrupt start/ stop of physical exercise 8. Vit d and calcium deficiency kindly consult physician for further management.

Knee Advice... Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting. Quadriceps Exercises. Core Strenthening Exercises. Hams Stretching. Sports Taping Hot Fomentation. Shoulder Advice... Regular Stretching of Shoulder Muscles. Warm up and cool down is a must. Hot fomentation.

Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Backache is normally two types: structural & mechanical. At your age is commonly mechanical back pain, due to bad ergonomics leads to bad posture finally ends into back pain. I would recommend you to see physiotherapy doctor n get it checked properly and take treatment. Tens, ultrasound therapy & heat therapy is best choice of treatment. After pain reduces start with mild strengthening exercises n stay fit.

Dear lybrate-user if you are overweight you should avoid jogging as you body weight impact the ground and you can get serious injuries in your knees and legs so stop jogging instead of that do cycling or swimming which is non impactive and also you can do brisk walking but avoid jogging.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If there is only pain with no associated s/s of ant inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness, local warmth etc and there is no h/o any injury to your knee, I will advise initially for conservative management for 2-3 weeks - start with intensive knee physical therapy with a physiotherapist - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Stress can cause pain in back. As you are facing sleep disturbances pls start meditation. Deep breathing excersise just before sleep. There music available for sleep pls try those. Calm yourself before bed time. Read if you like reading. If not able to help then opt for professional help.

Knee surgery-TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT (TKR) is quite safe & gives uniformly good results, in our hands. We have well equipped center in DELHI. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Surgery should be done when patient is still active & will be able to take benefit of surgery. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem. Kindly show me x rays before a final decision can be taken. You will be thoroughly investigated before surgery is under taken. Risk in surgery is less than the risk in crossing road.

Hi lybrate-user, after ligament tear yoi should have started with your knee rehabilitation by this time you should have been recovered anyway its better late than never start your knee rehabilitation and strengthen your knee once you strengthen your knee you can resume to your normal routinue, wish you speedy recovery.

Get done x ray soon, 1) do massage with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min. Afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. 2) start natural calcium supplement. 3) do regular stretching exercise 4) in yoga do bhujangasan, halasan & suryanamaskar.
