Afe periods is considered from 8th to 19th counting from 1st day of cycle for the period of 28 days. This method is unreliable if you have irregular periods.

BAMS

Hi, This irregular cycles may be due to PCOD. Do an U/S scan of pelvis for confirmation and revert back with the reports. If it is confirmed, then you may have to be treated for 3-6 cycles to regularise your periods, for which you can consult me personally.

Medicine From Kitchen - Mint

MD- Ayurvedic Pathology
Ayurveda, Amritsar
Medicine From Kitchen - Mint

Mint, scientifically known as ‘mentha’, is a herb with small green leaves and a characteristic strong odour. It is also a virtual cure-all plant. Try using mint by adding it to your meals, oral care and skin care regimen to remain healthy and fresh forever. A few prominent mint health benefits include the following:

Digestion aid: Try mint leaves if you are not feeling hungry. It is a great appetizer as well as a promoter of digestion. It soothes your stomach when you’re suffering from inflammation or indigestion. So, next time you have a stomach upset, go for mint tea or mint oil. Mint’s characteristic aroma acts as an appetizer. It stimulates the salivary glands and other digestive glands to produce saliva and digestive juices, thereby facilitating digestion.

Nausea and headache: Mint leaves, especially freshly crushed leaves, help staunch nausea and headache, thanks to the strong and refreshing aroma. Menthol oil or mint-flavoured products are very useful for alleviating nausea. Similarly, balms with a mint base or mint oil can be rubbed on your forehead and nose to give quick relief from headache. Mint tea oil derived from mint is also very effective in treating nausea and motion sickness while travelling.

Respiratory disorders: The strong minty aroma is very effective in clearing up congestion of the nose, throat, bronchi and lungs. This makes mint a very effective remedy for asthma and common cold. The herb is also a good remedy for cough. This is because mint has a cooling and soothing effect on the throat, nose and other respiratory channels, and this helps relieve the irritation, which causes chronic coughing. Regular use of mint in any form is very beneficial for asthma patients as well, because it is a good relaxant and it relieves congestion that blocks respiratory channels, causing symptoms of asthma.

Depression and fatigue reliever: As mint is a natural stimulant, it can help relieve fatigue and feelings of sadness. Mint essential oil is very good if you are feeling anxious, sad, depressed, low or just plain sluggish. Mint oil can be ingested, applied as a salve topically, or inhaled as a vapour to help with fatigue and depression.

Oral health: Mint has germicidal qualities and can quickly freshen up your breath. It also gets eradicates harmful oral bacteria inside your mouth, alleviating oral health. The mint leaves can be rubbed directly on your tongue, teeth and gums to clean and refresh your mouth. You can also get the benefits of mint by simply chewing on its leaves.

Skin health: Since mint oil is a good antiseptic and anti-pruritic, it acts as an excellent skin cleanser. It is used to clear pimples as well as soothe and cure skin from infections.

Mint’s anti-pruritic properties can be used for treating insect bites, mosquito bites, stings by honeybees etc. With its cooling property, mint will relieve you of the irritation of stings and bring the swelling down. Also, women can use mint oil to relieve cracks and pain in nipples which occur during breastfeeding.

Hello, m 19 years old and I have got cysts in my ovaries. I know it is common in teenagers But what scares me is m HV following symptoms from weeks: Continuous chest pain, bloating, pain while pooping, sensational feeling after urine, smelly discharge, back pain, indigestion (in ultrasound report they mentioned I have mild thickening of colon at lower abdomen). I want to know is there something serious cos normally cysts don't pain and these are also the symptoms of ovarian cancer.

My dates was started on 14th April at around 10 pm. Can you please tell m the safe period for sex. Bcoz my husband don't want to use condoms. Nd he could not ejaculate out. Is there any other method to avoid pregnancy. I hav one year old baby.

MBBS, DGO
Gynaecologist, Ahmedabad
For regular contraception, you can take ocp like femilon etc or you can go for cu t. For this cycle let you know that ovulation is around 14 days before expected date in case of regular cycles. If cycles are irregular like 26_35days, you can count 10 days minus longest (35) =25, 18 days minus shortest cycle=8 you should avoid contact from 8-25day of cycle.

Conceiving a Baby Affects Your Skin in These Ways

Conceiving a Baby Affects Your Skin in These Ways

Pregnancy is a welcome change in a woman's life. She is full of hope and happiness while awaiting the birth of her bundle of joy. However, it is almost inevitable to bring up the topic of conception and leave out a host of bodily alterations or disadvantages it entails. You might eagerly wait for months in a row to conceive and once you do the signs of health issues show. Most noticeable of all other problems are the ones affecting your skin. Skin problems can be immensely predominant and widespread in a pregnant mother; so much so that her psychological disposition might vary considerably.

Commonly observed symptoms of the skin that may affect you during pregnancy:

  1. Your eyes may look puffy and withdrawn: While the news of a baby lighting up your life in a few months' time makes you very happy, it also subjects your body to exhaustion. It is natural for expecting mothers to feel tired and wasted. Acute iron deficiency and poor blood circulation could result in fatigue that further surfaces as dark circles and puffy bags under your eyes.
  2. Your face could develop acne suddenly:  Acne is caused mainly because of excess sebum secretions from the oil glands present in your body. Excess oil tends to choke the open pores of your skin preventing it from breathing. Increased levels of progesterone are maintained by the human body for a strong uterine lining that is again required for the healthy development of a child; progesterone kicks off oil secretions.
  3. Spider like marks could spot your skin: Hormonal imbalances, sudden increase in weight, and heightened pressure in the veins may cause the blood vessels in your face to redden and grow big; the veins then look like the web of a spider. This condition is often referred to as Spider Angiomas.
  4. Big dark patches can also be seen: During pregnancy, your body has an excess of both oestrogen and progesterone. These hormones incite the impact of melanocytes, thus resulting in big dark patches on your skin. The condition is more prevalently known as Melasma.

Hello. I am 23. Since last 3-4 months my periods are a little scanty. And this month I have got my periods. M not sexually active. Also I feel my vaginal area is a little dry. Can a girl of 23 years old get menopause? Is this menopause or some other problem. I am otherwise very healthy. Do not smoke or drink and exercise regularly.

BHMS
Homeopath, Raebareli
No its not possible that at your age you are getting menopause. A simple low hb% in body can lead to scanty periods. You should get your hb% /thyroid profile/usg lower abdomen done to conclude the diagnosis of scanty menses. For dryness of vagina apply oilve oil on it.

My ESR is 29. Uric acid is 7.4. I am having slight head ache from time to time from past 3 days. I had fever day before yesterday, but did not experience it after that. I feel uneasy with the head ache. My typhoid report according to the doctor is on the border line. There are enough pluses in the report to suggest that this might be typhoid. However, doctor wants to observe me for a weeks time. He wants to see if the fever goes away in this time or shots up. My Billirubin levels naturally remain between 1-2. I have been cured for T.B. 9 years back. I am allergic to sparfloxacin. My urine from the past 8 days is dark yellowish early in the morning. I have to travel abroad in a months time ad have to work on australian visa. They require medical examination to be done from their own accredited hospitals. I am not sure if I should wait for one week for other symptoms to show up. Please help. This situation was a week back. My doctor started me with Ofloxacin for any threat of typhoid. I have taken doses for 5 days now. My headache still remains on and off during the day. Urine colour still unusually shows yellow. I have to travel soon. Should I just neglect this headache and hope for it to get fine by pain killers or is it an indication of something else? What tests should I get done with?

Menses can get delayed after medical abortion by 2 weeks. But as total 7 weeks since last menses you should get urine tested if pregnancy is a possibility in this month. If negative then you should get ultrasound also to be 100% sure that nothing is retained inside after the mtp.

For conception- control thyroid (<2.5) and control weight first. Also look for additional problems in you and your husband.

I had intercourse with my boyfriend. I am 18 yrs old. The first day it was for 15 seconds and the second day only for 30seconds. 1st day it started bleeding and there was pain in stomach but I took unwanted 72 pill the second day only. Is there still chance to get pregnant?

M.B.S.(HOMEO), MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Visakhapatnam
There are many reasons why a woman may bleed after sex. The medical name for this is" postcoital bleeding. Bleeding after sex can be a sign of a health condition, such as: an infection, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (pid), or a sexually transmitted infection (sti), such as chlamydia vaginal dryness (atrophic vaginitis) caused by reduced vaginal secretions after the menopause damage to the vagina such as tears caused by childbirth, or by dryness or friction during sex cervical or endometrial polyps (benign or non-cancerous growths in the womb or the lining of the cervix) cervical ectropion (also known as cervical erosion), where there is an inflamed area on the surface of the cervix. Anytime you experience bleeding during or after vaginal sex when you are not menstruating, it's important to visit your doctor or health care provider to determine the cause. Getting an accurate diagnosis is critical. Even if the bleeding is due to something minor, it? s most likely treatable and better for your peace of mind.
