Dear lybrate-user you need to follow low cholesterol diet plan. Start Your day with yoga, surya namaskar, brisk walking etc. Have a glass of luke warm lemon water + 5-6 soaked almonds. Then in breakfast you can choose options like high fibre oats, oats idli, oats or besan vegetable cheela, milk + musseli (avoid paranthas, pooris, fried items and refined cereals) then in mid morning you can have a bowl of kala chana chaat or butter milk then in lunch you can have 2 chapatis + veg+salad+curd then in evening you can have a cup of green tea + murmura chaat or fibre biscuits or later evening you can have fruits or fruit chaat then in dinner you can have 2 chapatis+ veg + salad or 1-2 bowl of soup + salad. Avoid fried, oily and junk foods, have food which is mostly prepared at home. Team Nutrihealth.

I had started smoking from 2 years It was paining on the middle of the chest is there any problem.

General Physician, Mumbai
Dear Lybrateuser, - You have to stop smoking as it has started affecting your organs in the body, cessation of smoking can reverse the harmful changes over a period of time as it is a gradual process - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables - have 7-8 glasses of water per day to wash down the toxins accumulated in the body because of smoking - do regular exercise like jogging, swimming, brisk walking for 20-30 min, also do yoga & deep breathing to keep your body & mind fit - do an x-ray chest to rule out any other problem, consult a doctor.

Please get an ECG and Echo done. If they are normal get your BP checked 3-5 days to see if this was an erratic increase or if you really have BP and need treatment.

Problem in breathing suffering from asthma and now i am also suffering from heart abnormal rhythm problem . how to cure? please advice

Pulmonologist, Bangalore
Hi. I understand your concerns. Asthma is a common allergic condition which is not curable but definitely be controlled so that you lead a symptom free life. You will need to undergo pulmonary function test to diagnose and to assess the severity of asthma based on which treatment can be tailored. You will benefit from inhalers. Hope your questions were answered. Thanks.

Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. Take homoeopathic medicine - Schwabe's Alpha-Coff and Glyzyrrhiza Glabra 1x - both thrice a day daily for 4 days. Management: - Avoid cold drinks and fried food, take healthy food. -Avoid exposure to Air-conditioner or cold air (wrap a warm stole or muffler around neck). -Avoid excessive or rough use of your voice/ shouting. -Gargle with warm water and salt 3 times a day and take steam-inhalation once before going to bed. Home Remedies for Cough: -Stir some into some hot tea for comforting cough relief. You can also eat a spoonful of honey before bed to help calm coughs. -Warm saltwater gargles help moisturize your throat, which can quiet coughs. -Drink peppermint tea to help relieve coughs. -Brew a eucalyptus tea by steeping a few fresh or dried eucalyptus leaves in hot water for 15 minutes. Drink this tea up to 3 times a day to help soothe a sore throat and calm coughs. -Make a hot ginger tea to help soothe a chronic cough. -Turmeric is a traditional cough remedy that many people have found effective for coughs. Try mixing half a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of warm milk. You can also try turmeric powder and a teaspoon of honey for dry cough. He has cholesterol=226. Triglycerides=360. pls tell me what to do?

DNB Cardiology, MD - General Medicine, MBBS
Cardiologist, Mumbai
Hello, the values of cholesterol and particularly triglycerides are very high now for your height you are not very obese, suggesting that there is some problem in your diet. I mean we need to cut down fat and pure carbohydrates from your diet. No fried and preserved food, no chips, farsan, pickles, ghee, red meat, egg yellow in your diet. Limit dairy products more of fresh fruits, vegetables, some nuts like walnut / almond, if you take fish, fatty fish like salmon 2-3 serving per week in your diet. Smaller meals as compared to 2 meals we usually take. Aerobic exercise 30-45 mins a day per week. Now as you start with the above holistic measure, if you are above 50 years of age and have risk factors like diabetes, hypertension, family history of heart problem, I would suggest you to start on a small dose of medication for your cholesterol and triglycerides, and we would repeat the lipid profile after 3 months, if normalised by lifestyle taper and stop the medication. Other supplement like, cod fish oil capsule, krill oil, garlic, flax seeds are good supplements rich in anti oxidants and improve your lipids profile.

Dear sir What is the difference between bypass surgery nd stent placement in heart?

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Sent is also called baloon intervention, it's not a surgery in the real sense, a device is passed through a major blood vessel of body and blockages in blood vessels giving blood to heart are cleared, in bypass surgery, blood vessels are taken from legs or arms are grafted and connected to major blood vessels supplying blood to entire body bypass rout is created for blood to flow smoothly to entire body and yes it is a major surgery but with advanced technology, there is nothing to fear by both procedures.

lybrate-user, at age of 22, it is natural for you to be ambitious, restless, impatient and hyper active. You are getting tensed and angry because you need to spend all your energy into POSITIVE PRODUCTIVE activities. Eating the correct kind of foods like fresh vegetables and lots of fruit, curd, juices - all fresh and natural, not form packaged boxes. These will nurture your body and help overcome any deficiencies that also lead to irritation. You MUST do active sports like football, badminton, swimming, jogging so you sweat properly. His will also burn out the irritation from you body and mind. There are many beautiful, fruitful and strong things for you to do. This is just the start of your life. Stay Positive.
