I am married guy with a 4 months baby boy. My sex life was good for initial 2 years of my marriage (4-5 times a week) till we got the news of my wife's pregnancy. We avoided sex in first 3 months as per doctor's advice & then for following 3 months, we did occasionally (once a week). Then there was a complete pause of 6 months till the baby was of 3 months. On resuming sex, I am facing problems for which I need solution. I don't get erection strong enough to penetrate even after good foreplay & if we try harder for it then I end up ejaculating. We tried penetrating using oil as lubricant in semi-erect state but either erection is unsustainable or it ends up in premature ejaculation. Me & my wife love each other but this situation is affecting our relation. I can't fulfill her desires every time by foreplay. Also I started avoiding getting physical with her due to it. We try having sex hardly once a week but it leads to dissatisfaction. please help. Also I am ashamed to consult doctor face to face.

Erectile dysfunction is a serious problem in married life. U need to be patience for this. Treatment is needed. U need to avoid sex for 2 weeks atlst. For the first 7 days just hug her, kiss her don't touch each others private parts. Do it for regular. Then after 7 days try for sex. Before you prepared for sex have a deep breathing for 10 mins. Don't think too much about sex. Rather think about other things like a child. Mind and confidence is all you need to boost up. Exercise regularly or walks regularly. It will also be helpful. Contact me in private. Through Lybrate. There I can give you some more advise which will definitely work for your erection dysfunction. Also will prescribe some medicine. Know More About Epilepsy

MBBS, DNB, Fellowship in Neurosurgery

Epilepsy is an abnormal medical condition due to abnormal electrical discharge from the brain, which could be due to genetic defects, brain injury, brain infection, brain tumor etc.

Do’s

  • Do take your medicines at the prescribed times.
  • Do make it known to your family members, friends and people who work with you that you are seizure-prone. Tell them what should be done in case you get an attack in their presence. This is nothing to be ashamed of as epilepsy is a medical condition just like high blood pressure. If your child has epilepsy, do inform the teacher and the school authorities about it.
  • Do tell your child's teacher what to do if your child has a seizure.

  • Do ask your doctor about medicines for other conditions before taking them.
  • Do follow a balanced diet.
  • Do exercise regularly but avoid over-exertion.
  • Do have good lighting in the room where you watch TV. TV picture flashes can trigger seizures. Good lighting can prevent such attacks.
  • Do tell someone if you are going for a swim; swim only if your seizures are under control. Moreover, whenever possible, go swimming with a friend.
  • Do talk to your doctor about the pros and cons of using contraceptive pills (medicines used by women to avoid unwanted pregnancy) along with your epilepsy medicines.
  • Do wear protective headgear when cycling.
  • Do tell your doctor about any ill effects that you experience.
  • Do get a good night's sleep daily.
  • Do make sure you have enough medicine so that you don't run short, even when you are travelling.
  • Do check-in with your doctor regularly.

Don’ts

  • Don't stop your treatment unless your doctor tells you to.
  • Don't consume caffeine or alcohol excessively.
  • Don't take other medicines without checking with your doctor.
  • Don't lock the bathroom/toilet door, if possible.
  • Don't smoke.

Hydrocele in Children - Can it Be Treated?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
Hydrocele in Children - Can it Be Treated?

Sometimes, the groin and scrotum swell due to the buildup of water like fluid in one or both the testicles. This is known as hydrocele. This condition is not at all painful, but can be uncomfortable at times. In newborn babies, there is an opening between the abdomen and the scrotum; it naturally closes with the passage of time, therefore it’s generally nothing to worry about.

Symptoms of hydrocele:

  1. Scrotum can get enlarged at times

  2. Swelling and redness are common in hydrocele

  3. Also, pressure can be felt at the base of your child’s penis

  4. Pain doesn’t normally occur but in some cases, might occur as your child gets older

How does in occur in babies?

When you are in the last stage of your pregnancy, the baby’s testicles descend from its abdomen to the scrotum. So the fluid in the sac stays within the scrotum and the opening closes naturally after some time.

Can it be treated?

This condition is not usually hazardous to health and is treated usually, if there is immense pain. It can also cut out the blood supply; in this case, it has to be treated as soon as possible. If your child experiences such symptoms, you should take him to a doctor for a physical examination. During this examination, the doctor will shine light near the scrotum.

If it appears as a solid mass, then the assumption is that there is no watery fluid; hence, hydrocele has not occurred. There is a procedure in which the hydrocele is burst open with a small needle, but sometimes, it might relapse. In such a case, surgery is the only reliable option. These symptoms can also persist if your child is diagnosed with hernia. Hence, in such a situation, a surgery would solve both the conditions. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an urologist and ask a free question.
