Dear , at your age, chest pain is often not due to heart disease. However, it is better to get a cardiac check up with ecg and blood tests. If needed, echocardiography and tmt will be done.

I am suffering from cancer on abdominal muscle, which was removed by surgery and radiation given on September 2012. Spindle cell sarcoma. Till now, I am under medical review every 6 months, I am afraid whether it will come again. What shall I do to stop re occurrence again.

Post Doctoral Research (Ph.D.) (A.M) (Oncology), Integrative Oncology for Physicians (MSKCC, N.Y, USA), Doctor of Natural Medicine (N.D/ N.M.D), Ayurveda (I) Cert., Advanced Strategic Management (APSM), B.E (Computer Sc. & Engg.), Clinically Relevant Herb-Drug Interactions (CME) - (Cine-Med Inc. Alternative Medicine Specialist, Bhubaneswar
Well Mr. Lybrate-user. I appreciate you seeking help. As I understand, the prognosis stands better usually in surgeries with clean margins. A clean surgery can, at times, be difficult especially for sarcomas in the abdominal muscle considering proximity of the other abdominal organs, and surgeries in such cases are most likely to be followed by chemotherapy/ radiation as deems appropriate by the oncologist (s). Apart from the above-mentioned, stage and grade of the cancer could also impact the chances of recurrence. Nevertheless, having already gone through the treatment procedure successfully and having already completed over three and a half years of disease free survival, I would only encourage you to stay positive, hopeful and brave as ever. Do see your doc/ oncologists for medical review regularly as advised. Besides the guidelines from your doc (s) which you need to follow strictly, I would advise you to stop tobacco smoking & restrict alcohol consumption, if any. Try maintaining a good health by being physically active, consume healthy/ nutritious diet (preferably mediterranean) with emphasis on plenty of leafy greens and fresh fruits, stay well hydrated, adopt a healthy lifestyle and de-stress regularly. A relaxed and stress free mind is also known to have positive impacts on health. In this connection, I would advise you to practise relaxation techniques like yogasanas (like'savasana'), meditation, listening to soothing music, social interactions, attending or viewing spiritual programmes etc all to stay relaxed and happy. The above-mentioned dietary and lifestyle recommendations may help lower the risks of recurrence or other cancers if not stop it completely. Do take care and I wish you all good health. Sincerely.

Dear, most of the prostate enlarged turn to malignancy. First check your psa. To rule out malignancy. Many ayurvedic drugs as well as allopathic drugs claim to reduce the enlargement but which one actually helps is a matter of chance. Surgery is indicated if the uncontrolled symptoms are there.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Apparently, these are the side effects of the chemo being administered at present. You can connect with his medical oncologist to manage these suitably. Furthermore, for Gallbladder cancer, an integrative treatment with natural medicines can not only improve clinical outcomes but also help alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy too. I could have advised in particular had I had known his exact treatment history including his current medications now. Please note that listening to soothing & melodious music does help reduce the feel of nausea/ vomiting as well as pain. Hope this helps. Do take care and all the very best.

DGO, MD, MRCOG, CCST, Accredation in Colposcopy

You should go to a doctor so that you can be examined. Pain in breasts just before menstruation is common and is usually harmless. However its best to be examined before any medication is started.

I have tumor in left breast. And I have done a blood ,mammography, x-ray test. Which is normal. What medicine for this without surgery.

MS, MBBS
General Surgeon, Raipur
You can not declare that a mass has no cancer without some tissue biopsy. If biopsy (can be done with a needle) shows no cancer, you can live with the mass. No further treatment needed. But also there are no medicines to resolve that mass. If you are okay with regular examinations and follow up with ultrasound or mammograms you can avoid surgery. In case there is any suspicion of cancer (not likely at your age) it needs to be removed. In either case, there is no way to get rid of a mass without surgery. Ag your age, though, a log of masses are not really tumors. They often disappear on their own. Check with a doctor.

It can be multiple lipomas. Some times the lumps are of neural origin. Examination will let us know what type they are. Many disappear of their own but sometimes when they cause concern they need to be removed,

How can one check if they have breast cancer or not? What are the symptoms? Could you please explain it in detail?

DNB (Oncology), M.B.B.S

How can one check if they have breast cancer or not? What are the symptoms? Could you please explain it in detail?
Hi, Self breast examination is the best way done at home to detect the lump. Any swelling increasing in size, nipple discharge, nipple retraction, swellings in the axilla, skin nodules over the breast are the major symptoms of breast cancer. Clinical breast examination is advocated for all patients along with mammogram above 40 years as a routine. Younger patients with any family history can get checked earlier with USG of both breasts or with MRI breast. Cancer is curable if detected early. Have a healthy lifestyle.

Sir, my daughter is 18 years and recently found that there is a lump in her left brest. What to do? We got examined, atopsy etc. Found that it is not a cancer tumor. How to get it removed? Or it will be dissolved in course of time? Pls clarify.

PGDMLS, PGDHHM, LLB, PhD Surgery, MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Gurgaon
In view of the information provided, it may be a fibroadenoma or a fibroadenosis. Fibroadenoma is painless and can be left as such. There is no medical treatment for it. If it causes any tension or if there is any change in its characteristics, it may be removed surgically. The procedure is simple and can be done as an outpatient (ie without admission to the hospital)
