Dear lybrate-user. Cyst of 1.5 cm is alright. Most of them resolve without any medical intervention in course of couple of months. If she doesn't have any symptoms you cab simply Repeat and scan after 2 months and look for the size. If it is increasing in size, consider taking medications to decrease the cyst.

I am diagnosed PCOS and my periods are not irregular it comes on the same date of 20-25 each month but amount is minimal but stays for 3 days. As it is like spotting I don't need sanitary napkin as well. I had sex on 19 th and my period comes on 27 in January. But in February and march it comes on 20. I don't think I am pregnant but can you tell the reason?

As you had menses 3 times you r 100% not pregnant. Menses will come like this in pcod because of hormonal changes in the body. To increase the flow of menses you need to reduce your weight to have normal bmi of less than 25.

Last year I had a chronic yeast infection. A gynie gave me a 'Candiforce' course for 5-6 months. Ever since the infection, my menstruation cycle has shortened and the flow has also significantly reduced. I have started experiencing menstrual cramps along with pain in legs, which were negligible previously. The infection has cropped up once-twice since then. Although now I have stopped sugar/starch intake and I eat home-cooked food only, I want to know why is this still happening and what should I do to restore my health?

Get your hb and blood sugar done do following 1. No alcohol (if consume) 2. Reduce body weight 3. No smoking (if do) 4. Diet - no ghee/ butter, have mix of vegetable oils - mustard, til, ground nut, olive oil, have more green vegetables and fruits, have whole grain atta, no fried. Fast. Spicy / processed/ junk food. Hii today (22.06.2016) I completed 7 week of pregnancy with all normal report of sonography n blood n urine test. Although a vegetable, garlic is primarily classified as a spice and is used in many dishes across cultures. However, apart from the pungent smell which is the most known characteristic of garlic, it also has medicinal properties and thus, was even used by healers for various ailments before the advent of modern medicine.

Some of the reasons garlic is considered healthy: 
Garlic is considered healthy for a multitude of reasons. Let's look at some of the ailments that garlic can prevent as well as help in healing.

  1. Great Against Common Cold: Garlic and garlic based homemade treatments are great ways to ward off the common cold. Garlic contains the chemical "allicin" which is known to aid health within the body. Having a few cloves or garlic can help you fight the common cold infection.
  2. It is Known to Improve Bone Health: Garlic is known to be very beneficial for bone health, especially in menopausal women. Women may encounter bone loss during menopause as the production of estrogen is lowered. Garlic encourages estrogen production which can stop bone loss and even protect against bone problems such as osteoarthritis.

8 Do’s and don’ts of meditation for beginners

While meditation can improve your overall well being considerably, it can take some time for you to master this art, especially if you're a beginner. Follow these simple do’s and don’ts, even if you’re a novice, you can be well on your way to finding inner peace, happiness, focus and the holistic health benefits that come with the daily practice of this art (and science).

The Don’ts of Meditation

1. Don’t do it with too many expectations
It can do more harm than good if you go into meditation with a baggage of expectations. You need to go into it with an open mind, while letting go of all your hopes, goals and expectations. Most importantly, to experience inner peace and stillness, you have to persevere, even if the results do not match your expectations.

2. Don’t worry about interruptions
Meditation is all about letting go and learning to go with the flow. So, don’t get flustered if you experience interruptions and have to get back to your meditative mindset several times.

3. Don’t look upon meditation as a quick-fix for your problems
Considered to be an effective treatment for stress and worries, meditation should not be taken up with the thinking that your problems would be resolved in no time. The effects of meditation may not show up for months to come. Patience is the key when it comes to meditation.

The Do’s of Meditation

4. Do meditate in a quiet spot
Whether you’re doing it alone, at home or in a group, it is always good to meditate in a place where you will not be distracted by your surroundings. Your meditation can break even at the slightest noise, so pick the quietest spot possible.


5. Do meditate in a group
For a beginner, meditating alone can be difficult and discouraging. You require a great deal of mental effort and determination to just sit still and not do anything. So, it’s good to go at it with the help of others who have been practicing it for sometime as their struggles and experiences may teach you a lot.

6. Do take the help of technology to improve your meditation
Apart from books, even technological tools like podcasts and apps can aid in improving your meditation knowledge and skills. While podcasts on meditation can be downloaded and viewed anytime, anywhere; apps can be used to time your meditation or even to divert any calls or messages that you may receive while you’re meditating, thus, preventing any form of distraction.

7. Do experiment and vary your practice
In order to stave off boredom that might arise from pursuing just one kind of meditation style, you could vary your practice with a myriad of meditation styles, ranging from a body targeted meditation to a breath focused one.

8. Always opt for the sitting position
It’s extremely important to get your body to differentiate between sleep and meditation. The body of a beginner can easily mistake meditation for sleep. For this reason, it is best to be always in a seated position when meditating. You could use blankets or pillows to increase your comfort level.

I have limps in my both the breast. Non cancerous lumps. I've consulted cancer specialist. And have been operated once. This is the second time. And is going through homeopathic treatment which is not helping me out. Any other way which you can suggest I shall treat them? And why are these lumps happening? The reasons? If the lumps are non cancerous and are not growing in size or no. Then there is nothing to worry. There are certain medicines in allopathy which can be helpful which any surgeon can prescribe after examining you. If there is no relief with medicines then surgery is the option. The reason for this is usually hormonal changes which occur during this time in a girls life.

A suitable weight loss plan for new mothers (post pregnancy)

Bringing a baby in this world, is the most exhilarating moment in most women's lives. Yet, post pregnancy days are filled with insecurities and uncertainties. Sleepless nights, stretch marks, healing uterus and an unappealing body. So unless you are shilpa shetty or malaika arora khan, most new mothers suffer from figure issues after giving birth to their child.

In fact the issue of maintaining the personality, is quite real regardless of what men say to their women. According to a yummy mummy survey over 90 percent of new and expecting fathers agree that they want their wives to look the way she used to look before the pregnancy.

This article talks in detail about the body and mind issues of new mothers and ways to deal with them, based on knowledge shared by expert indian gynaecologists on popular daily newspapers.

1) what's the fuss about yummy mummy?
A yummy mummy is someone who is confident of herself, is comfortable with her body and her personality. A yummy mummy is a mother who takes care of her body and her mind. She exercises regularly, is particular about her fitness level and exudes confidence.

2) body issues that a new mother needs to accept:
A woman will gain a certain amount of weight during pregnancy to include the weight of the baby, the placenta, the amniotic fluid, the enlarged womb, an increased blood volume, plus enlarged breasts and other fluid retention, commonly noticed as swollen ankles. Additionally a pregnant woman will store a certain amount of fat to help nourish her child during breast feeding. Women are expected to gain between 11-15 kgs during a normal pregnancy. Approximately 2-3kgs of this weight is designed to remain after the birth, to provide a fat source for breast milk. The remaining weight gain will either disappear immediately, the baby, placenta etc. Or resolve over time as the uterus contracts and the body returns to normal fluid levels. The concept of" eating for two" can however cause some women to gain more weight than just normal pregnancy weight. You may well look down at your body in the months after having a baby and wonder if it's ever going to look the same again.

Another worry that every pregnant woman has is about stretch marks and wondering if they are ever going to go. For this, it is advisable to try and minimize stretch marks during pregnancy by regularly applying moisturizers and oils which contain vitamin e, lavender, calendula and rosemary. The same can be used after pregnancy also on the abdomen and breast to reduce stretch marks.

3) diet essentials for a pregnant and new mother:
Eating healthy is of utmost importance for a pregnant and a new mother. A good balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates is a must in a pregnant and new mother's diet. Extra milk and curd should be had to increase the intake of calcium. Women should avoid excessive intake of salty, spicy and deep fried foods. It is advisable that they avoid cake, sweets and ice creams altogether as the women are in a state of semi diabetes because the placental hormones are anti -insulin. In addition, women should have a lot of fruits, vegetables and nuts in their diets.

4) what are the ways a new mother can ensure her pre-pregnancy shape after delivery?
Exercising is important to get back to shape but what is more, is doing the right kind of exercise.

-- the pelvic floor (the hammock-like layer of muscles that support the bladder, uterus, and bowel). If you were good, you'll have done your pelvic floor exercises during pregnancy. If not, don't let that stop you from starting now - they're all-important in the battle to keep leaky bladders at bay and, as an added bonus, can help to improve satisfaction during sex!

-- you can also make a start on the long, slow process of getting your tummy muscles back in shape by softly pulling them in whenever you get the chance. (if you're not sure how, imagine drawing your tummy in towards your spine.) hold for a few seconds, breathing all the while, and then release. Do this as many times a day as you can fit in. (it's also a good idea to hold in your tummy this way when you bend over or lift anything: it will help to support your back and so help to ease or prevent back pain, a common problem after birth.) you could also squeeze in a few pelvic tilts when you find yourself with a free moment: stand with your back to a wall, slide a hand into the gap between your lower back and the wall and use your tummy muscles to tilt your pelvis backwards. Hold for a little while before releasing. You'll know you're doing it right if you can feel your lower back pushing against your hand.

-- gentle walking is also okay in the early weeks

-- power walking: an ideal way for new mums to exercise as it can be fitted into a normal day.

-- pilates or yoga: these are great for improving strength and flexibility, but you'll still need to raise your heartbeat with some sort of aerobic exercise couple of times a week.

- swimming, or aquarobics: a perfect all-round exercise - it will increase your heart rate but as the water offers you support, has minimal risk of injury. It's also good for firming up post-baby breasts

5) how much should a mother wait after a c-sec before resuming workout?
Whether it's a c- sec or normal delivery, no strenuous workout should be done for at least 40 days or 6 weeks after delivery. It takes 40 days for the large uterus to involute back to its small pre pregnant state. Exercise during this period would strain the ligaments and cause back ache. It may also predispose the uterus to prolapse after menopause during weakened ligaments that support the uterus. In addition, after a c-sec, the abdominal muscles and ligaments need to heal well, so active workout is recommended only after 3 months.

6) what are the dos and don'ts of the first 3-6 months after delivery for workout/diet?
After 3-6 months, all forms of exercise are permissible, however, during breast feeding, lifting weights and push- ups should be restricted. Breast feeding mothers require extra calories and nutritious food and diet. Diet foods or low calories diets are recommended. A good balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats along with extra milk and fruits are a must. Breast feeding itself is a great calorie burner and helps the mother to lose weight and regain her pre pregnant figure within 6 months of delivery.

7) how many post-partum depression cases do you get on an average?
70 % of women experience mild baby blues for about 1-2 weeks due to placental hormones leaving the body. The post- partum depression is a bit rarer. The signs and symptoms are more severe and last longer.

The symptoms may include:
Depressed mood/ severe mood swings
Difficulty in bonding with the baby
Excessive crying
Withdrawing from family and friends
Loss of appetite or eating too much
Inability to sleep/ insomnia
Fatigue and loss of energy
Intense irritability and anger
Feelings of worthlessness and inadequacy
Severe anxiety and panic attacks
Thoughts of suicide ad harming the baby
Very severe post -partum depression may lead to psychosis. These patients do require help in the form of counseling and medication.

8) how can a mother avoid succumbing to depression?
Women should attend pre-natal classes, which prepare them for labor delivery and breast feeding during pregnancy. After birth, the mother should
Rest adequately
Accept help from family and friends
Connect with new mothers
Always take time to take care of themselves
Avoid alcohol and medicines that cause depression

All said and done, it is very important that dads support new mothers to regain their lost shape, without hampering their confidence.
Post pregnancy, a woman is very stressed- she is worried about the baby and herself and is very busy taking care of the two. Being a mother can be very taxing and there are a few simple things that fathers can do.

Things dads can do with the baby:
Take baby out for a walk so mum can have some quiet time.
Feed the baby in the middle of the night or bring the baby to mum if breastfeeding. He could also help the baby feed if there is expressed breastmilk or feed the baby in the morning so mum can get some extra sleep.
Help to look after older children so that mum can adjust to life with a newborn again.
Make sure you learn how to bathe the baby and change nappies.

Things dads can do for mum:
Make mum any meals, e. G. Breakfast in the morning before going to work.
Tell her she's doing a great job and that you are proud of her and how much you love her.
No pressure for sexual acts - intimacy will return again soon.
Let her de-brief / talk about the labour and birth as many times as necessary, without getting annoyed. Being a good listener is important.
Tell her that it doesn't matter if the home is messier than usual and help to do a bit of tidying.
Let her cry or be emotional without trying to'fix' her - simply comfort her.

Husband's support makes a huge difference in the new mother experience of every woman and only makes him happier in return!

The contraceptive comes in 21/28 tabs in strip if 21 start on the seventh day fromthe first day of bleeding till the tab are over daily 28 pack has two colored tabs it will be marked as to which day to start follow the arrow.

Akansha, you will not get pregnant after taking I pill for three consecutive days. But I hope you realise that you are playing havoc with your health. This is not at all desirable. You probably have no idea of periods, conception and contraception. This can take a toll on your physical and mental health later on. Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) - How You Can Manage it With Home Remedies?

Urinary tract infections (UTIs), which are infections anywhere along the urinary tract including the bladder and kidneys are on the most common infections in women. These infections can be caused by poor hygiene, impaired immune function, the overuse of antibiotics and the use of spermicides. The most common cause, accounting for about 90 percent of all cases, is the transfer of E. coli bacteria from the intestinal tract to the urinary tract.

Fortunately, there are a few methods of natural treatment and prevention that are drug free and prescription free and more than are effective as well. Go Natural!

Indian Gooseberry (Amla)
Indian Gooseberry is rich in vitamin C which in turn inhibits the growth of bacteria

  • Take a cup of water.
  • Add one teaspoon of Indian gooseberry (amla) powder and one teaspoon of turmeric powder.
  • Boil the solution until half the water evaporates.
  • Drink the residue three times a day for three to five days.

You can also eat more fruits like lemons, oranges, bananas, guava, kiwi, melon, raspberries, tomatoes, and papaya that contain a good amount of Vitamin C.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a rich source of enzymes, potassium and other useful minerals that can prevent the bacteria that cause UTIs from multiplying or growing. Those suffering from UTIs can use apple cider vinegar as 

  • Natural antibiotic to treat the infection.
  • Add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. You can also add lemon juice and sweeten with honey. Mix it well.
  • Drink this two times a day for a few days

Baking Soda
Baking soda will raise the acid-base balance of acidic urine and give you relief from the pain. Neutralizing the acidity in the urine also will help speed up recovery. Simply add one teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of water and drink it once or twice a day.

Blueberries
Blueberries have bacteria-inhibiting properties that can help in the treatment of UTIs. The antioxidants present in blueberries are good for the immune system, and they prevent growth of bacteria that causes UTIs.

  • You can add some fresh blueberries to your favorite cereal and have it for breakfast.

Get her ultrasound pelvis done, most likely she is having pcos. These kind of patients do respond to medical treatment very well and conceive very soon.
