My wife is pregnant and we had intercourse gently, but she is observing left lower abdomen pain after having intercourse. This pain appeared day after when we had four days back and got normal. Again when we had intercourse yesterday afternoon she experienced pain in the evening. Suggest any problem to my wife and child. (The pain is not so severe and not for too long &my wife is 8 week pregnant)

If she is uncomfortable avoid vaginal sex. Show concern about her, look after her, show your love and not lust. Having sex from side male behind is easy, but keep in mind lady needs rest and energy and good nutrition. Along with sex it is your responsibility to look after her, take her for regular check up and give medicines as advised regularly. Prepare your self to be a good father good luck. Good luck.

MD (Hom.), BHMS
Homeopath, Delhi
You can take homoeopathic medicine mag phos 30 - 5 pills 3-4 times daily 2-3 days prior to your periods untill periods stop for the acute pain. Homoeopathy can help in complete recovery from this ailment also but it requires a detailed case taking and observation of the patient through personal consultation. We will suggest you to consult personally for the same.

Good to know that at 30 you are doing yoga. Nothing will happen if you skipped by 3 days as doing yoga brings in only positive benefits.

All About Obstruction of the Bile Duct

All About Obstruction of the Bile Duct

Obstruction of the bile duct is characterized by the blockage of the bile duct. The function of the bile ducts is to transport bile to your small intestine. The bile is excreted in order to digest fats from the food.
There are two types of bile ducts in the body:

  1. Intrahepatic ducts: These ducts are small tube like structures that carry the bile to extrahepatic ducts
  2. Extrahepatic ducts: Extrahepatic ducts are two ducts that descend from the liver into the body's small intestine

The bile comprises of waste products, bile salts and cholesterol. The liver secretes bile which flows through the bile ducts and is stored in the gallbladder. If the bile ducts are blocked then the bile accumulates in the liver and can lead to jaundice.

Certain causes of this particular condition are mentioned below

  1. Bile duct obstruction may result from gallstones
  2. If you have inflammation in your bile ducts
  3. Narrowing of the bile ducts
  4. Enlargement of the lymph nodes
  5. Bile duct tumors
  6. Tumors in the pancreas
  7. Various infections such as hepatitis
  8. Liver complications such as cirrhosis
  9. Various parasites may lead to bile obstruction
  10. Inflammation of the pancreas
  11. If you have weak immune systems, then it may lead to infections that may result in bile duct obstructions

The symptoms are:

  1. You may experience yellowish skin
  2. You may have symptoms of fever and vomiting
  3. Abdominal pain especially in the upper part
  4. Stools may be light colored
  5. You may pass urine that is dark in color

The various treatment options for obstruction of the bile duct are surgeries that remove the blockage. Other treatment options are an ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) and a cholecystectomy which is the process of removal of the gallbladder. ERCP is another procedure that is used to get rid of gallstones from the gallbladder. You may prevent it by consuming a lot of fiber in your diet. Make lifestyle changes such as exercising on a regular basis and eating healthy.

My periods had to occur on 19th. But it's 27th today. N I hv yet not got my periods. I hv taken an ipill. Is the delay because of ipill or m I pregnant? Can anyone plzz help me out.

Homeopath, Hyderabad
If your periods are regular still now and got skipped this month then there is a suspicion that you might be pregnant please have it checked through home done spot test with ICAN and for confirmation undergo urine for HCG test. If you have irregular periods even before then this might be due to hormonal supplement which is effecting your cycle.

I am 24 year old female. I experience excruciating pain during periods. I have had multiple treatments for the same but none seemed to work (even if they do it is only temporary). As soon as I stop medication it all comes back. In december 2013 I was diagnosed with pcod. So I continued my medication for about a year. The medication regulated my periods and the problem was gone. But now that I have stopped taking meds, I am again getting delayed and painful periods. Please help me out. Is there any permanent solution to this problem? if yes, what is it?

You need to consult me privately. I can prescribe some tests to identify the causes and treat accordingly. Ovarian cysts are small fluid-filled sacs that develop in a woman's ovaries. Most cysts are harmless, but some may cause problems such as rupture, bleeding, or pain. Moreover, surgery may be required in certain situations to remove the cyst (s). It is important to understand the function of the ovaries and how these cysts may form.

Dissociative Identity Disorder

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Ahmedabad
Dissociative Identity Disorder

There are three major dissociative disorders defined in dsm-5:

  1. Dissociative amnesia.
  2. Dissociative identity disorder.
  3. Depersonalization-derealization disorder.

What are the symptoms of dissociative identity disorder?

Dissociative identity disorder is characterized by the presence of two or more distinct or split identities or personality states that continually have power over the person's behavior. With dissociative identity disorder, there's also an inability to recall key personal information that is too far-reaching to be explained as mere forgetfulness. With dissociative identity disorder, there are also highly distinct memory variations, which fluctuate with the person's split personality.

The" alters" or different identities have their own age, sex, or race. Each has his or her own postures, gestures, and distinct way of talking. Sometimes the alters are imaginary people; sometimes they are animals. As each personality reveals itself and controls the individuals' behavior and thoughts, it's called" switching" switching can take seconds to minutes to days. When under hypnosis, the person's different" alters" or identities may be very responsive to the therapist's requests.

Along with the dissociation and multiple or split personalities, people with dissociative disorders may experience a number of other psychiatric problems, including symptoms:

Mood swings suicidal tendencies sleep disorders(insomnia, night terrors, and sleep walking) anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias (flashbacks, reactions to stimuli or" triggers") alcohol and drug abusecompulsions and ritualspsychotic-like symptoms (including auditory and visual hallucinations) eating disorders

Other symptoms of dissociative identity disorder may include headache, amnesia, time loss, trances, and" out of body experiences" some people with dissociative disorders have a tendency toward self-persecution, self-sabotage, and even violence (both self-inflicted and outwardly directed). As an example, someone with dissociative identity disorder may find themselves doing things they wouldn't normally do, such as speeding, reckless driving, or stealing money from their employer or friend, yet they feel they are being compelled to do it. Some describe this feeling as being a passenger in their body rather than the driver. In other words, they truly believe they have no choice.

I am 24 year old female. I have itching in my private areas. Please suggest me what to do.
