6 Dietary Dos and Don'ts for Pregnancy

6 Dietary Dos and Don'ts for Pregnancy

6 dietary dos and don'ts for pregnancy

Pregnancy is an important time in a woman's life. During this period, you need to be most conscious of what to eat, do and how to change everyday habits. Following these dos and don'ts will ensure a smooth pregnancy experience for you.

Dos:

1. Take your prenatal vitamin

If you have not yet started taking a prenatal vitamin, now is the time to start. It's particularly critical to get enough folic acid while trying to conceive importantly during the first trimester. It greatly reduces your baby's risk of developing neural tube birth defects such as spina bifida.

2. If you smoke, quit

Smoking increases your risk of developing several problems including miscarriages, placental and preterm birth problems. It slows the fetal growth and increases the risk of stillbirth and infant death. It's never too late to quit or cut back smoking. Every cigarette you don't light gives your baby a much better chance of being healthy.

3. Do eat seafood

Seafood is loaded with vitamins and minerals. Consume a variety of seafood so you don't have a concentration of minerals from only one type of fish. But remember to not eat more than 12 ounces of fish per 7 days.

Don'ts:

1. Don't drink alcohol

Alcohol may immensely impact your baby's development. Women who drink alcohol while pregnant could easily deliver a baby with fetal alcohol syndrome (fas). Symptoms of fas are usually low birth weight, learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and lagging patterns in terms of growth and development milestones. Limiting or avoiding alcohol is a step that you need to take.

2. Don't eat raw meat at all

Raw and undercooked meat or eggs carries the risk of food-borne diseases as well as food poisoning incidence. Make sure all eggs and meat that you eat while you are pregnant are cooked well.

3. Don't drink lot of caffeine

Caffeine easily travels through the placenta and increases your baby's heart beats. Research shows that women can safely consume a cup or two of coffee every day, but avoid downing a triple shot strong latte while you have got a bun in the oven.

'consult'.

I don't know whether you were informed or not that one of the complications of termination of pregnancy is to have difficulties in keeping pregnancy in future. However at the moment consult gynaecologist who with history, examination and reports will decide what to do.

Period happened today I mean 1st August. But period blood is too dark. Do I need to fear on pregnancy doc?

Unlikely but I would advice you to do a pregnancy test next month if periods fail to come on time. Also in between please avoid any further unprotected intercourse.

Detoxifying With Homeopathy

Diploma in homeopathy, B. Sc

Detoxifying With Homeopathy

Detoxification is a physiological and medical process of blood cleansing by removing impurities from the blood. It is a means of cleaning and nourishing the body from inside and it is done at least once a year. It includes one or more of the following: dieting, fasting, colon cleansing, removal of dental fillings or cutting out specific foods from your diet.

Benefits of detoxifying your body:

  1. Gets rid of excess waste
  2. Boosts your energy
  3. Strengthens your immune system
  4. Improves your respiration process
  5. Reduces weight
  6. Provides anti-aging benefits

Majority of the detoxification of your body is carried out by these 4 systems; Digestive, Respiratory, Urinary and Dermal. Any disturbance in these 4 systems results in accumulation of toxins in your body and may cause serious medical illnesses.

Homeopathy approach helps in maintaining the proper functioning and balance of the 4 systems. It is a gentle, natural and one of the safest ways of removing toxins. Homeopathic remedies for treating detoxification are as follows:

  1. Berberis Vulgaris: It acts as a stimulator of liver, gall bladder and kidneys. It is best suited for people who face rapid change of symptoms, pain all over the body, repeated diarrhea and stone in the kidney.
  2. Chelidonium tincture: It is a reliable liver and gall bladder drainer. It supports liver in removing toxin from your body due to heavy usage of drugs and antibiotics.
  3. Senega: It is an effective detoxification remedy for people exposed to respiratory issues with allergies.
  4. Nux Vomica: It acts as an intestine and liver stimulator. It is mostly used for symptoms linked with a sedentary lifestyle and excessive consumption of alcohol, drugs, caffeine, and tobacco.
  5. Taraxacum Officinale: It is used by people with stomach and digestion issues.
  6. Fumaria Officinalis: It detoxifies your body by purifying the blood, leading to enhanced functioning of the liver.
  7. Uva Ursi: It is an effective urinary antiseptic that supports the functioning of kidneys and reproductive system.
  8. Saponaria: It is used for skin draining purpose.
  9. Aloe: It is used for detoxification of the rectum.Apart from the homeopathy remedies, other self care measures such as drinking lots of water, healthy eating, exercising regularly, minimizing stress and avoiding alcohol and drugs can help in detoxifying.

Did They Live Happily Ever After?

Did They Live Happily Ever After?

We look around at our friends' marriage and often conclude that their marriage is better than ours. No wonder we turn to self-pity mode for not being to lucky to have a happier and exciting relationship. Who knew the love shall fade away! Where is the harmony and intimacy we always dreamt of ??

Why does romance not last? When we need someone to love and more importantly to be loved. All success, a seven digit salary, and big cars, nothing. nothing lets us feel content unless we have someone to share it with. Probably you have been married for years and have lost the romantic spark you had. And you look back and start analysing, where, what, when and how things went wrong?

And blame game starts; you curse circumstances and try to justify your actions

Ritikaa and Mehul fell in love at first sight. Despite family resistance they married. After a few months, they were arguing for small things and wondering why did they have married. Dr Radhakrishnan is a scientist married to a pathologist; he is looking from separation from his wife after 26 years, though he is not seeing anyone else.

Suchitra and Prakash married ten years ago, they divorced after two years of their marriage. They don't have kids. There were no obligations but they reunited four years back and divorced again, but still the relationship is not broken.

Do happy couples exist??? Heartbroken Alok who is just 32 yrs old, asked me with teary eyes - I earn 4 crores a year, but I feel lonely, unloved and dejected!

Every day I listen to stories of heartache! And my belief in the power of love and affection is growing many folds.

Marriage is more than being a room partner! Not only marriage but any relationship is like a plant, we need to nurture it to blossom. Every marriage faces its own challenges at different time and for different reasons. We need to consciously work on it but with ease.

No marriage is boring or perfect! It's about how do we respond to our marriage.

Every couple has to face common issues related with adjusting with new families, career balance, baby plans (in some cases), spending, eating, hygiene (bathroom etiquettes) habits of spouse, interest and hobbies, gender specific responsibilities and of course money matters.

Let it be anything . .Assertiveness is key to success.

Watch your own actions:

  • Are you imposing thoughts and actions on your spouse: you have imagined a world, and are trying to move things as per our own wish?

  • Are you expecting without explaining to her/ him: you might be soul-mates, but don't forget that no two people can be the same. Explain your expectations but don't put conditions to get it accomplished. Allow your spouse to take her or his call.

  • Are you respecting differences in opinion- disagreement is not disrespect for your views and opinions. It's about perspectives (based on pre conceived notions)

  • Are you reading your spouse's mind and assuming? Stop assuming, ask but be assertive, use appropriate words, tone and pitch.

  • Are you giving some room for mistakes?  Give people some space to make mistakes, forgive them and self too. Communicate if something bothers you a lot.

  • Are you judging by actions not understanding intentions? Relax! Before you make opinions and decide you can't take it anymore. Sometimes your spouse is completely clueless and unaware about your mind.

  • Are you trying to bridge the gap between your spouse and your parents? Relationships are very one-to-one. Never try to bridge the gap between them, you shall end up being a sandwich and will spoil your relations too. Let them grow their own relationship.

  • Communicate clearly and explain your expectations about money matters - involve your spouse in your financial planning, it's a way to generate trust between you and spouse and it helps to work on budgets and spending habits.

  • Express clearly about sexual needs and desire. Physical intimacy plays a very important role in marriage. Seek professional help to sort things out before you think you are incompatible.

  • Make a choice not a sacrifice (otherwise you shall expect your spouse to repay it in the way you want).

Mam now there are many methods available for this you can choose according to your need and convenience. I am not suggesting any because with out knowing your need it is useless. Every such method is unique and has some merits and some problems also. For example oral pills should be taken regularly as their schedule, and have very good effect but if you miss the dose it may be ineffective. So, first decide what is your need then we can find best option for you.

During pregnancy most women are likely to pay more attention to living healthy and eating a healthy diet, but it is also important to keep a check on the key element during pregnancy - hydration.

When pregnant or breastfeeding, a woman's water requirements are higher than usual and that is why water is needed to form amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby, support the increase in blood plasma volume and produce breast milk.

Hence being well hydrated may help alleviate some pregnancy related conditions.

To help understand the importance of hydration for pregnancy health, emma derbyshire, author of" nutrition in the childbearing years, has provided essential tips for hydration in pregnancy.

1. Water is an excellent beverage choice for mums-to-be. It is natural and helps women to rehydrate without consuming calories and sugars.

2. Women should increase their total water intake by an extra 300ml/day during pregnancy and 700ml/day during breastfeeding.

3. Make water the first choice when it comes to hydration.

4. Water-rich foods such as soups, stews, yoghurts, fruits and vegetables can help top up total water intake.

5. Pregnant women should take frequent small drinks, particularly after the birth of their child when they are busy looking after their new baby.

6. Women breastfeeding should make sure that they are getting enough fluids - try to remember to keep a glass of water on hand when you sit down to feed your baby.

7. Women should reduce their intake of caffeinated and alcoholic beverages
