She is a diabetic patient. Sometimes she feel very fatigue. Please give me a suggestion.
Diabetes affects all organs in the body – Eyes, kidneys, nerves, reproductive system all are affected, In fact, from toe to hair. For diabetic control, patient and doctor should be in constant touch for regular follow up and advice. The common symptoms are:-Both types of diabetes have some of the same tell-tale warning signs. Hunger and fatigue. Your body converts the food you eat into glucose that your cells use for energy. But your cells need insulin to bring the glucose in. If your body doesn't make enough or any insulin, or if your cells resist the insulin your body makes, the glucose can't get into them and you have no energy. This can make you more hungry and tired than usual. Urinating more often and being thirstier. The average person usually has to pee between four and seven times in 24 hours, but people with diabetes may go a lot more. Dry mouth and itchy skin. Because your body is using fluids to make pee, there's less moisture for other things. You could get dehydrated, and your mouth may feel dry. Dry skin can make you itchy. Blurred vision. Changing fluid levels in your body could make the lenses in your eyes swell up. They change shape and lose their ability to focus. Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. It is a difficult task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose – SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For diabetes, hypertension (high BP) and many long-term illness control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch personally.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Your information is very general. There are no details like TSH levels (current), dosage of thyroxine being taken. Unless these details are given there is no way to give any comment or suggestion. When on treatment with adequate dose of levothyroxine TSH is maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L, at that level all the symptoms of hypothyroidism including weight gain can be controlled. Plus there is a need for dietary restriction and regular exercise of over 1 hour a day. Thanks.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Please let me know where did you get this information that sweet fruits or etra sugar does not increase blood glucose? In a normal person with presence of adequate insulin, extra glucose that comes in to blood is immediately removed from the blood, moved to muscles or various cells like tissue cells or liver. But is a diabetic person lack of insulin leads to abnnormal increase in blood glucose due to lack of insulin. When drugs are given to control high blood glucose, some drugs (sulphonylureas), insulin etc can rapidly reduce the blood glucose leading to hypoglycemia. In such a situation either glucose or sweets or sugar are given to rapidly incrase blood glucose. Low blood glucose (<50 mg/100 ml) is harmful to various tssues and brain. Thanks.

Diabetes - How Ayurveda Is Best For Healing It?

Diabetes is highly common health issue in India. Your blood sugar levels increase beyond the normal levels and cause other related problems like swelling, frequent urination, nausea, heart ailments etc. Conventional drugs can only control the symptoms, but cannot help the person to completely get rid of diabetes. However, here are some suggestions from Ayurveda that can help you in treating your diabetes in a way that it will never return.

  1. Food habits: Try avoiding foods that are high on sugar and whatever you eat, do not eat it all at once. Eat in small portions spread over the day. Limit carbohydrate and fat intake in your diet; instead try to consume whole grain foods and vegetables.
  2. Lifestyle changes: Avoid alcohol, drugs and smoking. Sleep soundly and sufficiently. Maintain your body weight and take care of your health by getting routine checkups done for sugar and other possible ailments that may be underlying causes of your diabetes.
  3. Must Do's: Practice a healthy lifestyle by undertaking regular exercise and yoga. Practice medication and go out for a walk at least once in the day. Also, make it a habit to mix half a tablespoon of turmeric powder, 1 tablespoon of amla powder with half a tablespoon of methi seeds and consume it every day. Incorporating these habits in your lifestyle would definitely help you in getting rid of diabetes.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Pain in the left side of the chest and radiating to left arm can be due to problem related to heart of it may just a muscular pain. Is the pain more or gets precipitated with exercise? It is better if he under goes certain investigations like ECG, echocardiogram and if needed a stress test. First and foremost is he should achieve a strict blood glucose control with fasting glucose < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8. Thanks.
