You cannot work on a specific body part. You have to work on overall fat loss and toning. Try to eat small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Include exercises that tone your back and abdominal muscles too. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets and singular ab exercises or ab machines will not give you targeted results. The fats will remain as it is. It's all about overall work out and balanced diet.

My father is a diabetic since 10 years, now on tablets. His post prandial blood sugar is 283mg/DL. Could you suggest some diet for him. Is eating pork safe.

Hello- follow these points for blood sugar control- a) avoid day sleep. B) avoid over eating, non-vegetarian diet, rice, potato and dairy products. C) take evening meals before 7 pm. D) walk at least 100 yards or sit in vajrasana position after meals. E) go for morning walk or kapal bhati pranayam early morning. F) physical exertion and increase sweating will help in diabetes. G) avoid small meals like break fast and supper, instead go for two heavy meals. H) amla, turmeric and shilajeet are beneficial in diabetes control and to reduce diabetic complications. No pork is not safe as it contains eggs of worms which can develop worm infestation in your brain and thus causing epilepsy (cystisarcosis).

Follow these best tips to get in shape and loose belly fat: body become over weight due to deposition of fatty tissues. First you should follow diet plan: * in morning, take 2-3 chapattis witha bowl of cooked green vegetables. You can take a glass of without cream milk after 2 hour of breakfast. *in lunch you can take a bowl of soupor salad. *in evening, you can take a cup of teawith glucose biscuits. *in dinner, you can take a bowl of fruits or 2 chapattis with a bowl of vegetables. Work out for atleast 1 hour in morning, you can try skipping for 15 minutes with a walk of 30 minutes and 5-10 minutes running. To reduce the belly fat: * lie down on flat surface, raise your legs without bending your knees, do it for 3-5 times daily. * lie down on plain surface, put your hands on the back of head by folding your elbows, now move your head towads the knees try to touch your knees with forehead and then move back and lie down. Repeat it for 5-10 times daily. * do surya namaskar yoga everyday, as surya namaskar have 12 forms of yoga. Do it for in morning everyday to get in shape in short period. * do not eat fastfoods and soft drinks, as they have high calories.

I am pure vegetarian do not even consume eggs. I want to reduce weight to 65 Kgs. I do not smoke and do not take alcohol. My blood group is B+. I want my energy level up and high along with weight loss. 1. Excessive weight gain is caused when people consume more calories than the body needs—occurring most commonly due to eating a diet high in fat and calories, being sedentary, or both. This imbalance between calories consumed and calories burned, however, can also be caused by a number of different obesity-related factors such as genetic, hormonal, behavioral, environmental and, to some extent, cultural. There are many other factors causing obesity such as pregnancy, tumors as well as endocrine disorders and medications that include psychotic drugs, estrogens, corticosteroids and insulin 2. Dear to decrease your weight you have to do work out daily. Try the remedies below they can help u. 1. Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one glass of water. 2. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. 3. Do this daily for at least three months. 4. Drink mint tea or make a paste of green mint with some simple spices and eat during meals. 5. Eat vegetables such as bitter gourd and drumsticks to control obesity. 6. Do bhujang asana, dhanurasana, naukasana, kumbhakasana, pavanamukthasana daily 10 min per asana. 7. Aim to lose at least 4 kgs per month by following a healthy eating pattern and moderate exercise. All your test parameters would start improving as soon as you achieve 10% weight reduction. Hello, weight loss is the result of a holistic approach that includes- 1. Balanced diet rich in proteins and fibre like- egg, chicken, fish, milk, curd, paneer, sprouts, oats, wholegrain cereals and pulses, fruits and vegetables (fibre) 2. Exercise- doing 40-50 minutes of moderate to high intensity activity for 4-5 days/ week will help (walking/jogging/swimming etc. Also being active by getting up from your chair within 1/2 hour, using staircase, parking your vehicle far from your office so that you walk are ways to improve calorie burning 3. Adding good quality fat like nuts and oilseeds-almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds (alsi) will help. 4. Rest for 7-8 hours to rejuvenate your system so it can work efficiently. 5. Being a dietitian my views: there is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

I have a bowl of boiled kala chana and four boiled egg whites for breakfast, and meal replacement shake for dinner, I have a normal lunch, I also workout 6 days a week in the gym for two hours/ day, I have lost 10 KGS in the last six weeks, I want to know is my diet alright, how long can I continue with it , my goal is to loose another 10 KGS.

I have leg pain feom last 5 months. I take some heavy load and after some time I feel pain in my right side leg. I have taken medicine from doctor but not feeling well till now.

Most leg pain results from wear and tear, overuse, or injuries in joints or bones or in muscles, ligaments, tendons or other soft tissues. Leg pain can also be caused by blood clots, varicose veins or poor circulation. To relieve mild pain: stay off your leg as much as possible apply an ice pack or bag of frozen peas to the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes three times a day elevate your leg whenever you sit or lie down please go to a physiotherapist if: you have pain during or after walking you have swelling in both legs your pain gets worse your symptoms don't improve after a few days of home treatment you have painful varicose veins if you feel the pain is from muscle cramp then you need to drink a lot of water because poor fluid intake (dehydration) may predispose to cramps also low blood levels of either calcium or magnesium directly cause cramps. Hello Lybrate User, Please make these changes if you want to lose weight fast 1) Have small and frequent meals…it helps in increasing BMR and helps in weight loss 2) Cut down on sugar intake. Avoid mithais, sweets, icecreams, puddings etc 3) Drink at least 2 litres water in a day. But make sure not to have water immediately after a meal 4) Have more green leafy vegetables and whole fruits. Eat natural foods. 5) Avoid fried and fatty foods and foods with preservative such as samosa, pakoda, chips, namkeens etc 6) If you eat non veg, then avoid red meat and include more of leans cuts of chicken, fish etc. Don’t eat yolk. Have egg whites only. 7) Avoid aereated drinks and juices…even the fresh fruit juices. 8) Don’t drink alcohol as it has nothing but calories 9) Include more fibre in food as fibre keeps you full for longer. Whole fruits, vegetables, whole or sabut dals all have fibre. Try including more of fibrous cereals too such as dalia, oats, add bran to atta for making chapattis, brown rice etc. 10) Have good breakfast and light dinners.
