General Surgeon,
More than three attacks of diverticulitis and diverticulitis with abscess or sepsis better to go for surgery. But diverticulitis is infection in diverticulosis which means presence of multiple diverticulum. If simple diverticulosis simple fibre diet is enough .if diverticulum infection also called diverticulitis occurs antibiotics and as I said surgery may be required in few cases.
