Hello Dr. I want to know that before period how many days is safe for sex and after period also so that for no pregnancy. And at this age how long should be do for sex to have good health.

Hello Dr. I want to know that before period how many days is safe for sex and after period also so that for no pregna...
The eight to twenty first day of your menstrual cycle, counting from first day, is considered as the fertile period or the UNSAFE period. Days other than this are considered SAFE, that is, the 1st-7th day of the cycle and then again from the 22nd to the 28th day. But this may not exactly be correct for all women. It depends on the length of your menstrual cycle (it should be exactly a 28 day cycle or little less) and if you have a regular periods cycle. If the cycle is longer than 28 days that, this time frame isn’t reliable. Opting to have sex during the ‘safe period’ isn’t fool-proof though. Using condoms along with other contraceptive methods are advised to prevent unwanted pregnancies. And as much as you desire to do sex is healthy till you are having it naturally concerning your proper menstrual cycle and sex drive For more queries contact us.

Sexual Health - How ADHD May Affect it!

MD - Physician
Sexologist, Coimbatore
Sexual Health - How ADHD May Affect it!

ADHD, which stands for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a chronic brain condition that leads to difficulty in prolonging attention on to a single thing, impulsiveness and hyperactivity. Though it mostly affects children and teenagers, it often continues into adult life as well, and can pose serious issues in adult lives - specially in maintaining jobs and relationships.

Effects of ADHD on your sex life:

  • Impulsivity: If you are suffering from ADHD, it is highly probable that you are often very impulsive in nature - and are susceptible to taking a number of risky decisions, such as unprotected sex
  • Attention-deficit problems: Since your thoughts are often jumping from one thought to the other, you will find it very difficult to actually concentrate on any single job at hand. Since sex requires attention and use of judgment, distractions can prove to be detrimental to a healthy sex life.
  • Hyper-sexuality: This refers to the condition of an unnaturally high sex drive. It is basically caused by the stimulation of the brain by the release of endorphins during sexual arousal, which often leads to calmness and relaxes the restlessness that is otherwise so common to ADHD patients.
  • Hypo-sexuality: This is exact opposite of hypersexuality. This condition refers to an unnaturally low sex drive, where you may often lose all interest in sexual activity completely. Often, this is a product of ADHD itself, but it can also be attributed to being a side effect of a certain type of medication, especially anti-depressants.
  • Other disorders: Women suffering from ADHD have been known to have difficulties in achieving orgasm, often in spite of prolonged sexual stimulation. Also, if you are suffering from ADHD, you may also tend to be hypersensitive - which implies, something that feels pleasurable to your partner, may be painful or irritating for you.

Suggested Treatments:

Certain suggested treatments for improving the sex lives of people suffering from ADHD are:

  • Including variety in sexual activity, such as different locations, positions etc.
  • Communication, which proves very beneficial in combating intimacy issues
  • Prioritize, and try to stay in the moment and not zone out, if you are suffering from ADHD disorders

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a sexologist.

Hypothyroidism is a very common problem these days. Periods get disturbed due to hypothyroidism. But I advise you not to take allopathic medicines for periods as these r hormones and will create serious side effects which may create problems in pregnancy also. There is a wonderful ayurvedic treatment if hypothyroidism. U can msg me on my consult for more discussion and also send me the lab report.

Cough Hygiene

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Cough Hygiene
When you cough or sneeze, you tend to expel out respiratory waste, which can be droplets (larger than 5 microns) or airborne droplets less than 5 microns; both have different implications.
Droplets remain suspended in the air only for a limited period and exposure of less than 3 feet is usually required for human to human transmission of droplet–borne respiratory organisms. In flu, this can be upto 6 feet. The examples of droplet infections are patients with meningitis, influenza, rubella (German measles) etc.
No precautions need to be taken by a person, who is at a distance of 6–10 feet away from the patient. But, if a person is sitting or working even at a distance of 3–6 feet, the non–coughing person should wear simple mask.
In contrast, airborne droplet nuclei, which carry respiratory secretions smaller than 5 microns can remain suspended in the air for extended period and can cause infections to people who are standing even more than 10 feet away. The example of airborne droplet nuclei infections are TB, measles, chickenpox and SARS.
Patients with these diseases need to be placed in an isolation room. And, all those people who are looking after these patients must use a safe N95 mask.
In normal house with open windows, there is a constant exchange of air, which prevents spread of infections but in rooms with air conditioners (ACs) with no air exchange, infections can spread from one person to another.
When sitting in an air conditioned atmosphere, the setting of the AC should be such that the same air is not circulated and fresh air is allowed to exchange. Split ACs, therefore, are more dangerous than the window ACs.
In an office with split AC, if one employee is suffering from any of the droplet nuclei disease, he/she can transmit infection to others. Therefore, patients with confirmed TB, measles, chickenpox and SARS should not be allowed to work in offices with split ACs.

Role of Homeopathy in Treating Infertility

Homeopathy is a complementary system of healing that believes in ‘like cures like’. But can it cure infertility? Read on to know more about the role of homeopathy in infertility. Homeopathy uses the same principle of ‘like cures like’ to treat infertility as well.

In scientific terms, infertility is defined as the inability to conceive despite having regular unprotected sex for one or more than one year . The cause for infertility can be either present in the male or female partner like low sperm counts in men or poor quality of sperm and hormonal disturbances, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, fibroids etc. in women.

Homeopathy works in infertility by:

  2. Increasing sperm count and improving sperm mobility in men
  3. Removing emotional blockages
  4. Reducing stress
  5. Treating depression and anxiety

Homoeopathy is especially useful in curing infertility due to low sperm count and sperm motility. A homoeopath can identify the cause of your infertility by asking you specific questions related to your:

  1. Age
  2. Duration of trying to conceive
  3. Nicotine, alcohol, coffee or tea consumption
  4. Genital diseases including inflammation, surgery and trauma
  5. Any other conditions you may suffer from, including hereditary conditions
  6. Any active infection in the body
  7. Exposure to toxins such as chemicals, radiation, heat or noise
  8. Stress levels
