I was operated for inguinal hernia (which I had developed due to excessive cough due to dust and pollution soon after 2013 diwali) - left abdomen on 4.5. 2014 by laparascopy. In winters I again had excessive cough. This resulted in recurrence of inguinal hernia about 10 weeks ago. I developed mild back pain due to accidental forward bending during morning massage which is my daily routine. I did not take much notice of it. However, on the morning of 24 may, the day I was to be operated for open hernia surgery I had shooting pain emanating from the back of left buttock. I had to be taken emergency for pain management. Mri did not give any much positive finding except degenerative changes in the vertebrae and l5-s1 compression. (that is also due to aging) I was operated for hernia on 1.5. 2015 through open surgery although the left thigh was still tender and paining. The cut us healing but causing pain - though reducing day by day. The left thigh muscle, however, is quite painful - like burning pain - and is very tender - painful to touch. I have started physiotherapy on 13.5. 2015. The therapist is giving ultrasonic and aft on the thigh and swd on the back. My question is whether: i) the left thigh muscle burning sensational pain could be due to the groin nerve that got pressed due to earing of scrotal guard - ill advised by a junior doctor as it is coincidental that the shooting pain resulted after about 4 days of wearing scrotal guard? or ii) could it be referred pain due to hernia that used to press the nerve? iii) is the treatment being given correct? iv) will I be able to travel - going to the uk on the 28th of may and us on the 7th of june?
