Hello, you seem to have either feet strain or planter fascitis. Do contrast bath (hot and cold water fomentation in two buckets---1 minute each in hot and cold) for 15-20 minutes. And apply a pain killer gel. Take a pain killer tab for 5-7 days. Use a soft foot-were. Once the pain is controlled. Go to a physio. And learn exercises for feet. You will settle. Take care.

I am 50 years old I have back ache from 15 days.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist,
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned pain in lower back region as your main problem. You are actually very young to have persistent pain. If there is only localized pain in back region with no other associated symptoms like radiating pain, numbness, paresthesias etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc in case you are having back pain. If there is no improvement in 2-3 weeks with this conservative management, we will need to evaluate you further in form of dynamic x rays to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

You may try complete bed rest, plenty of liquid intake, proper home food and paracetamol tablets like Crocin 500 mg 3 times a day for 2-3 days. If no relief see a General Physician for clinical examinatin, related investigations, diagnosis and treatment.

I am above 40 years male. I have knee pain for last 3-4 years. My past and recent blood and x-rays diagnosis shows no abnormality. Every time I do physiotherapy there is relief and then after few days pain start again. Can you please suggest: 1, what is the cause of this pain ? 2, what is the cure for this pain ?

There can be many other reasons to pain than arthritis. Say, if one has a continuous standing work, one is overweight, mineral or nutritional deficiency, muscular sprain, old history of injury, etc. Further discussion is needed. As you said physiotherapy reliefs a bit, you need to continue with seka or fomentation also.

It might be due to gastric trouble. Kindly do breathing exercises which might help you to get reduced with pain in the back and right shoulder. This might be cervical pain (neck pain) and that's the reason the pain radiates until the shoulder blades. If you keep ice that would help and along side you can do hot water fermentation. You shall use cervical collar which would help you to reduce the radiating pain ie. Due to the nerve compression.

Yes, age is one of the factors. With age, moisture content of the skin reduces as the skin is not able to hold enough water content. The best treatment is to use as much lubricant and moisturizer as possible. It will definitely solve your problem. Take care.

My mom has knee problem can knee replacement be trusted.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist,
My mom has knee problem can knee replacement be trusted.
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually when I counsel my patients for a knee replacement surgery, I always see certain things and ask the patients few questions? - during examination and subsequent investigations like x rays, the alignment of the joint needs to be seen, so we have to see whether there is any fixed deformity or a coronal plane alignment, if it is very bad with compromised joint space, then definitely nothing apart from a surgery will work because no medicine can change alignment of a joint - also I need to know how much your mother can walk everyday and what are her analgesic requirements? is she able to do her day to day activities without too much pain, or is that a bother? kindly send me her latest x rays so that I can see and advise accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.
