high cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take green veg., whole grain. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

High blood pressure can be controlled through measures like diet, regular exercise, yoga, stress free living. But one thing one should also rule out is any underlying causes. Therefore proper consultation necessary. If not controlled with above measures one should not shy away from medicine.

Hello doctor, I am 20 years old I have done my MRI of hips and screening of LS spine and all reports were absolutely normal actually my question is. During mri I was not constant I have done some moments is there any possibility of loss of information by the machine? Can it also loss some information if there is existence of tumor or cancer.

MBBS, MD - Medicine, MD - Oncology
Oncologist, Delhi
Dear, there will be little blurring of the immage. If the tumor is very small there is a chance of miss but gross things cannot be missed. Mri is usually done when there is a clear cut indication for it. So very less chance to miss.

I presume you have consulted a qualified Cardiologist & if he says that no medicine is required, then follow his instructions. If you have this palpitation once again, then get back to me & we'll get to the root of this problem & solve it.

Hi, first and foremost, you will require bringing down your high bp through medication while making an effort to systemically bring down your cholesterol levels. I would advise you to first meet up a medicine specialist or a cardiologist who shall evaluate you clinically and prescribe the needful medication to arrest your high bp and also cholesterol levels. At the same time, you will require to streamline your diet and avoid sweets, oily and fried stuff. I would advise you to consume more of whole grain cereals, bread, fresh & fibrous fruits (especially apples) & vegetables and stay hydrated, drinking at least 8 - 10 glasses of water daily. Especially, coriander water is also known to help bring down cholesterol levels. Additionally, omega-3s, vegetable oils with pufa, garlic, amla, cayenne, green tea, vitamin d, fenugreek (methi), isabgol, flaxseed et al help bring down high cholesterol levels too. It is also important that you streamline your lifestyle, exercise daily for at least 30 to 45 minutes, and try reducing your stress levels at work and also at home. Certain yogasana (especially vajrasana) & pranayams also help control cholesterol & obesity both. Remember that relaxation too is equally important for your heath. Hope this helps address your problems of both high cholesterol & bp. You may connect with me in private to discuss and come up with a well-researched, integrated & holistic natural treatment plan/ prescription that suits you in particular and one that provides you a sustainable relief from your chronic issues. All the very best.

Do you have pain while lying down. If yes, it is a musculoskeletal pain. Take voveran tablet twice a day for 3 days. The pain will become less and will go away. If it still does not get better with this, you require further consultation.

Reduce salt consumption in your diet. Exercise daily. It'll come under control. By the way digital bp monitor gives 5-10 mm higher readings of bp.
