Today was my 10th day and I went for follicle cycle the right ovaries is 13 mm and left ovaries is 12 Small then my doctor send me for hgm 75 injection and called me for another follicle cycle on 12 day so the report is normal or complicated please tell me.

MD - Streerog
Ayurveda,
3-4 follicles in ovaries start developing after you finish your period (menstrual phase) out of which one gets dominant and further grows upto 25 mm and gets ruptured which is called ovulation, on an average its 14th 15th day from the first day of your last cycle. When ovulation takes place and in this phase if intercourse happens chances of pregnancy are more. If follicle does not develop or is not ruptured there are no chances. With proper treatment this can b treated so not much to worry.

IUI (Intrauterine Insemination)

IUI (Intrauterine Insemination)

  • Intra Uterine Insemination is the process where artificial insemination of prepared sperm of husband / donor is done in the uterine cavity for conception in a planned cycle at the time of planned ovulation.
  • It is done in cases where the tubes are functional as well as patent . This can be performed in a natural cycle or with artificial hormone stimulation.
  • If the couple is diagnosed with unexplained infertility, cervical mucus problems, minor sperm abnormalities or other male disorders. It is also a cheaper solution for azoospermic males who cannot afford ICSI with TESA . They can have artificial insemination with donor semen.

Benign, or noncancerous, tumors in the uterus can cause heavy bleeding or long periods. Benign growths in the uterine lining (endometrium) can cause a heavy or prolonged period. These growths are known as polyps, when the growth is made up of endometrial tissue, or fibroids, when the growth is made up of muscle tissue In most cases, the cause is not known. Known causes of abnormal uterine bleeding include polyps, fibroids, endometriosis, medication, infection and some forms of contraception. Symptoms of abnormal uterine bleeding Symptoms include: heavy (more than 80 ml) or prolonged (more than eight days) blood loss during the menstrual period. If you think you may be experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding, you may find it useful to keep a pictorial blood loss assessment chart bleeding or spotting between periods (intermenstrual bleeding) cramping and pain in the lower abdomen fatigue. Causes of abnormal uterine bleeding While in many cases, it is not possible to determine the exact cause, there are a number of reasons a woman may experience abnormal uterine bleeding. Some of the known causes of abnormal uterine bleeding include: spontaneous miscarriage in pregnancy ectopic pregnancy – lodgement of the fertilised egg in the slender fallopian tube instead of the uterine lining hormonal disorders – conditions such as hypothyroidism (low levels of thyroxine), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and hyperprolactinemia can disrupt the menstrual cycle ovulatory dysfunction – this is when the ovary does not release an egg each month. Most commonly, this occurs at either end of a woman’s reproductive years, either during puberty or at menopause endometriosis – the cells lining the uterus (endometrial cells) can travel to, attach and grow elsewhere in the body, most commonly within the peritoneal cavity, (including on the outside of the uterus or on the ovarian surface) infection – including chlamydia or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) medication – may include anticoagulants, which hinder the clotting ability of the blood, phenothiazides, which are antipsychotic tranquilisers, and tricyclic antidepressants, which affect serotonin uptake intrauterine device (IUD) – is a contraceptive device that acts as a foreign body inside the uterus and prompts heavier periods hormonal contraceptives – may include the combined oral contraceptive pill, injections of a long-acting synthetic progesterone, a rod containing slow-release progesterone (implanted in the upper arm), or intrauterine system devices (progesterone-releasing contraceptive devices inserted into the uterus). The progesterone-only treatments commonly cause spotting hormone replacement therapy – used as a treatment for menopausal symptoms fibroids – benign tumours that develop inside the uterus polyps – small, stalk-like projections that grow out of the uterus lining (endometrium). Polyps may be associated with fibroids bleeding disorders – may include leukaemia and Von Willebrand’s disease cancer – most uterine cancers develop in the lining of the uterus, though some cancers grow in the muscle layers of the uterus. They are most common after menopause. Diagnosis of abnormal uterine bleeding The diagnosis and identification of potential causes of abnormal uterine bleeding involves a number of tests including: general examination medical history menstrual history physical examination pap test blood tests vaginal ultrasound endometrial biopsy. Self-help suggestions for managing abnormal uterine bleeding Suggestions for managing abnormal uterine bleeding include: Get plenty of rest. Avoid aspirin, since this is an anticoagulant and may contribute to excessive bleeding. Eat a well-balanced diet. Take iron supplements to prevent anaemia. Homeopathic treatment is safe and effective , but for this detail history is needed . Right now you take , thalaspi bursa and apis mel, Mother tincture - 10 drops in 1/4th cup of water , 3 hourly , and hammamils 30 three times a day, its help to stop bleeding you get these medicine on any homeopathic medical shop.

Dear user. TO CAUSE PREGNANCY on a woman, sperm should be ejaculated inside the vagina or fresh sperm should be inseminated inside the vagina with some means during the fertility period of the woman. Pregnancy only happens when other aspects are too satisfied. In the given case, there are less chances of pregnancy. Take care.

Proper positioning for breastfeeding
It is very important to position your baby well while breastfeeding. Not only would it ensure that the baby gets sufficient milk for the efforts he/she makes in suckling, it would ensure that you do not suffer from pain and sore/cracked nipples, and that your baby wouldn't get frustrated and refuse to breastfeed.

Bariatric Surgery: What To Know About It

MS - General Surgery, MBBS

Bariatric Surgery: What To Know About It

Obesity and a shapeless body are problems that plague many people around the world. Besides leading to an appearance that is less than ideal, it can also lead to severe health problems include heart failure, heart diseases, diabetes and more. While there are many ways to combat being overweight with the help of exercise and a proper diet and even medication, very severe causes of obesity can also be fixed with a surgical process known as Bariatric Surgery. So, here's everything you need to know about it.

  1. Affecting the Digestive Process: As per the normal digestive process, the food moves into the digestive tract, while its nutrients get collected with the help of a well functioning system that includes digestive juices and enzymes. This food moves through the digestive tract, passing through the oesophagus, before it goes down into the stomach where it meets the strong digestive acids, which break it down, and then it enters the small intestine. While the stomach can hold three pints of food at a time, there is a chance that some of this food may not get properly digested in the small intestine. In this case, the food enters the large intestine. Now, Bariatric Surgery helps in restricting the amount of food that a person can have and hold in the first place.
  2. The Process: This surgical procedure may be carried out by cutting open the stomach and removing a portion of the same. This procedure can also reroute the small intestine into the gastric pouch or the small stomach pouch. This process can also be done with laparoscopic invasion, where a few small incisions will be used to insert a tiny camera and instruments for the process.
  3. Ideal Candidates: If your BMI or body mass index is more than 40, then you can opt for this kind of surgery, as mere dieting and exercising will not help you in your weight loss endeavour. This surgery can also help in preventing the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The patient also has to have reached the normal adult height in order to qualify for this surgery.
  4. Side Effects: After the surgery, the patient may experience a few side effects including leakages and bleeding. An incisional or an internal hernia may also occur after the surgery. Also, for patients who have a poor diet, there may be complications after the surgery due to less intake of necessary vitamins and minerals.

Once you undergo the surgery, it is important to commit to a proper diet with less food intake and proper exercise on a lifelong basis.

You cannot predict exact date of ovulation in case of irregular menses. Ovulation commonly occurs 14 days prior to next period. Cervical fluid resembling egg whites is the sign of ovulation. If you track basal body temperature ; then there is rise in temperature just after ovulation. You may get slight spotting or abdominal bloating or pain in lower abdomen at one side. If you want accurate dates then you can do follicular study (ultrasound) from 10 th day of menses. Consult your doctor for medicines for irregular menses.

Failing to do Foreplay can ruin mood or leave you unsatisfied. Sex without foreplay means you’re not taking your needs into consideration, because foreplay is much more important to women than to men. Foreplay is a set of emotionally and physically intimate acts between couple meant to create sexual arousal and desire for sexual activity. Vagina secretes natural lubricating solution which is secreted by bartholin's gland. Foreplay also helps in secreting natural lubricant which will improve sex life.

To get pregnant you need to have regular sex i. E. 3-4 times a week for one full year before you start seeking medical help. If you want to make her pregnant fast then you can follow this calender method. If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26 days) minus 18 days = 8th day. The longest cycle (31 days) minus 10 days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period.

FACTORS AFFECTING CALCIUM ABSORPTION

M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Pune
FACTORS AFFECTING CALCIUM ABSORPTION
Incorporating healthy foods in the diet is not enough. One should understand factors affecting the absorption of nutrients from the food. Some factors are responsible for increased absorption of particular nutrient whereas some decreases its absorption. Calcium is the hardest mineral to get absorbed in the body. 30-80 % of the dietary calcium is not getting absorbed in the adult body.

Factors increasing absorption of calcium:
1. Vitamin d: vitamin d works in the digestive tract to absorb calcium into the blood stream from the walls of the duodenum. Vitamin d also helps maintain normal blood calcium level.

2. Parathyroid hormone: it increases calcium transport across the membrane of intestinal cells.

3. Acid environment: hydrochloric acid secreted in the stomach during the process of digestion is required for the absorption of calcium in the duodenum. Calcium supplements could be taken with magnesium at bedtime or between meals due to the acid environment needed in the stomach to assimilate the calcium. Always consult a physician before beginning a new supplement regimen.

4. Milk lactose: it favors absorption in infants. Lactose is acted upon by intestinal microbial flora to form acid which causes lowering of ph which makes calcium more soluble.

5. Amino acids: supplemental calcium is often chelated, or combined with protein molecules called amino acids, to help the body absorb them during digestion. Lysine and arginine increase calcium absorption.

6. Exercise: exercise along with vitamin d intake helps calcium absorption thereby making bones strong.

Factors decreasing absorption of calcium:
1. Oxalic acid& phytic acid: foods that are high in oxalic acid such as spinach, chard and chocolate, reduce calcium absorption. Oxalic acid binds with the calcium to form a salt crystal, calcium oxalate which cannot be absorbed. Phytic acid, which is found in whole-grain foods and high-fibre foods, effects calcium absorption the same way.

2. Phosphorus: too much phosphorus in the diet causes precipitation of calcium in the form of calcium phosphate.

3. Stress: stress can have a negative effect on hcl production in the stomach and on normal digestive behaviour in the body, and can therefore have a negative effect on calcium absorption.

4. Caffeine, drugs like anticoagulants, cortisone and thyroxine reduce calcium absorption.

5. Lack of exercise and vitamin d deficiency leads to decrease calcium absorption.

My husband want to do oral sex and anal also. But I am not getting comfortable. What should I do? Please suggest.

MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, FMAS, DMAS
Gynaecologist, Noida
Hello, you must talk to your husband and express your concerns with him. There are no medical solutions but talking can bring you to a mutual understanding.
