Im 25 years and i'm having shoulder pain since 1 week after doing some exercises should I leave my workouts as it may cause severe damage? Or is it due to my office hours which I have joined recently and have to do a lot of work.

Whenever you start some new activity your muscles used for that activity become stiff and give you pain for some time you should continue with the exercises to get used to it once in a while you can take tab combiflam to get relief from pain or apply colonial gel and give hot fomentation on the affected part.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards

It depends on the cause of Elephantiasis. If it is due to Filariasis, then she can have recurrent lymphangitis and associated fever and leg pain. This can be prevented by taking a medicine called Banocide, once every 6 months. Please consult a general physician who can assess the condition and prescribe the correct dosage and duration of the medication.

What exactly is a spine block injection? Will it work long trem for low back pain due to disc problems?

What exactly is a spine block injection? Will it work long trem for low back pain due to disc problems?
It's a combination of medicines deposited over your inflamed nerve. Usually works long if it's a chemical irritation of your nerve, in case it's a mechanical compression then a nerve block injection alone by itself doesn't work long time.

5 Causes Of Wrist Pain!

MBBS, M.D ( ( Gen.Medicine)
General Physician, Varanasi
5 Causes Of Wrist Pain!

A very common complaint, a number of factors can cause wrist pain but arriving at the exact cause can be a tad bit difficult. Depending on the cause, wrist pain can vary in intensity.

What causes pain in your wrist?

Injury to any part of the wrist can lead to wrist pain and impinge on your ability to use the affected hand and wrist. The causes can be injuries like sudden impacts and repetitive stress; arthritis like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis; or diseases such as carpal tunnel syndrome that affect this part of the body.

1. Sudden impacts - Falling forward onto your extended hand can give rise to instances of wrist pain. Injury occurring from this sudden impact can cause not only sprains and strains but also fractures.

2. Repetitive stress - An activity that involves the movement of your wrist in repeating motions can cause the joint tissues to be inflamed or give rise to stress fractures, especially if the movement is performed without any break for a long period of time.

3. Rheumatoid arthritis - In this disorder, both the wrists can get affected. In general, the disorder sees your body's immune system attacking tissues of your body.

4. Osteoarthritis - Although the condition is very uncommon in the wrist, it occurs in individuals who have suffered a wrist injury in the past. Osteoarthritis typically happens when the cartilage that acts as the cushion at the end of your bones undergoes deterioration with time.

5. Carpal tunnel syndrome - An increase in pressure on the median nerve (a nerve that affects the sensation or movement of your hand) that passes a passageway called the carpal tunnel can cause you to suffer from wrist pain.

In addition to these causes, instances of Kienbock's disease and ganglion cysts can also lead to this problem.

How to identify the signs of the problem?

The pain can vary depending on the cause. So, wrist pain arising out of osteoarthritis will exhibit a dull pain while that from carpal tunnel syndrome will give a pins and needles sensation. Many times, the location of the pain can help the doctor to determine the cause behind the symptoms you may experience. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a General Physician.

Hello you are suffering from the back pain caused by long continuous sitting posture and sedentary life style. you are advised to take 10 minutes break after every 2 hour sitting.Start a morning walk for at least 30 minutes.Regular walking is also very helpful as it is a wholesome exercise of the body, improves blood circulation and helps lose weight.Try to maintain a correct sitting posture. Take homoeopathic medicine Rhus tox. 200, 5 drops twice daily for 10 days, then revert me with feed back.

If you have lower back pain pain pls check your body weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. . My suggestion would be to wear MCR Chappals which will help you to prevent the weight falling on the If you have back pain while walking and standing

Hello Mostly the causes of pain and restricted movement in shoulder are due to cervical disc disease, diabetes, shoulder traum or injury. So slow exercises and controlling sugar level is very effective. You can apply warm Rasna leave paste.

Fibromyalgia - Know Its Symptoms And Treatments!

Are you suffering from body pains? It could be Fibromyalgia!!

Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes widespread body pain along with sleep deficits, memory loss, mood problems and fatigue.

Symptoms may be triggered after a surgery, physical trauma, infection, or stress. Women are much more vulnerable to this disease than men. Many people affected with fibromyalgia may have suffered from headaches, backaches, depression, anxiety, tension, temporomandibular joint disorders and irritable bowel syndrome.

Most of these patients have undergone multiple consultation with various doctors and undergone many tests but no diagnosis could be made. These patients are often ignored by doctors and family members as always 'complaining of pain'

Symptoms of Fibromyalgia:

  1. Extensive Pain- Pain related to fibromyalgia is often depicted as a dull pain that lasts for at least three months. Pain can involve any body part like back, neck, chest, arms, legs. Patients have pain in multiple areas of body and painful areas change over time.
  2. Fatigue- Patients afflicted with this disorder feel tired even after sleep. Such people are reported to sleep for longer hours than normal people but their sleep often gets disrupted due to sleep apnoea and restless leg syndrome.
  3. Cognitive Difficulties- These patients find it difficult to concentrate at work and also suffer from memory deficits in daily activities.
  4. Other Symptoms: These patients may also have symptoms like burning urination, urgency of urination, numbness, loss of appetite, tingling sensation, diarrhea, constipation, tinnitus, depression etc.

Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia:

There are no specific test to diagnose fibromyalgia. Diagnosis is made by a doctor specialized in Pain Medicine using clinical methods based on symptoms and examination. Blood tests like Haemogram, Thyroid function test, RA Factor, ESR are done to rule out other diseases which can cause similar symptoms.

Treatment of Fibromyalgia:

  1. First step in treating these patients is to accept their problem and discuss with patient and family members regarding the presence of such disease entity.
  2. Lifestyle changes like active involvement in cardiovascular exercises, swimming, yoga, meditation are important to control symptoms.
  3. Conventional painkillers do not work in these patients. They requires special medications prescribed by a Pain Specialist for control of symptoms.
  4. Counselling of patient is beneficial for associated depression.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
