Have pleasant meals: meal time should be a pleasant time rather than a hurried affair. You should thoroughly enjoy every meal. Listening to soothing music while dining can be very helpful. Furthermore, research conducted by professors brian wansink and koert van ittersum at cornell university suggest that by eating in larger cups and bowls, one may increase the consumption of food compared to when eating in smaller cups and bowls.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hye. Thank you for your query. No natural food causes harm if eaten in the right season, right amount and at the right time. Cashewnuts are not harmful in itself. It can be planned into the diet of diabetics or hypertensive people. Cashewnuts do not increase weight or cholesterol or blood sugar levels if eaten correctly.

Avoid supplements. They are not good for the body/system. You are young now. Slowly you will gain weight. To gain some weight, you need to eat healthy. Take small meals but eat something solid every 2 hours. 1. Take at least two fruits per day and one glass fruit juice. 2. Take one peanut butter sandwich daily. 3. Eat 20 almonds / cashew daily 4. Drink full cream milk, curd, lassi, chikoo shakes etc. 5. If your are non veg you can have more eggs, chicken, fish. 6. Dals have good protien. Have more rajma, kabuli chana, soya beans etc. 7. Avoid junk food and colas. Avoid chips and other namkeen. 8. No need for any supplements. Nature has best products. 9. Go for regular walks / exercise / do yoga. Sleep well. - Take deworming tablets every six month. Feel confident about yourself and be positive.

Management Of Diabetes Through Ayurveda!!

Diabetes mellitus type 2 (also known as type 2 diabetes) is a long term metabolic disorder that is characterized by high blood sugarinsulin resistance, and relative lack of insulin.In Ayurveda, it is compared with madhumeha.The causes of madhumeha are:

  1. Enjoying sedentary life habits and love to sleep always.
  2. Consuming curd, milk products, jaggery preparations in ample quantity without physical activity.

The best way to combat any disease is to reverse the cause. Hence to reverse diabetes:

  1. Reverse the sedentary life that is leading an active life.If living in urban areas, take a strict regime for a walk and yoga asanas like mandukasana.
  2. Always remember,”Walk is as important as medicine".
  3. Avoid food items with preservatives, artificial sweeteners, jaggery, fruits of high glycemic index{sapota,banana}.
  4. Use only mustard oil for cooking(say complete no to refined oils).
  5. Barley should constitute the principal ingredient of food of the patient suffering from Diabetes.Use barley in ample quantity-as porridge,as flour or use barley water.Consider barley as main millet rather than wheat or rice.
  6. Take heavy breakfast before 10 a.m and light dinner before 7 p.m.
  7. Take fruits and small meals in between.
  8. Lead a stress-free life. Regular medication and pranayam is mandatory.

The role of lifestyle and diet is crucial in diabetics.Diabetes has many serious complications on all organs of the body.Maintaining HbA1c level between 6 and 7 is very important for diabetics.

The rest part of managing diabetes is done by ayurvedic drugs like bitter gourd juice(karela), methi seeds, cinnamom, gooseberry(amla), vijaysar, triphla, etc.
