I am a 25 year old student suffering from mouth ulcers since 5 years I what your advise what should I do?
Hi, I had a surgical tooth extraction a week back. Since half of my tooth was broken the removal of the tooth took quite some time. Also I had root canal treatment done on the same tooth 10 years back. The root was too hard so the dentist struggled a lot with normal procedures. Finally she used hand drill tool to remove the tooth and put some stitches on it. Tomorrow I have to go for the review as well as to remove the stitches. My question is I am still having some pain, is it normal? I don't have any bleed or swelling but only the pain.

Let us talk about dental implants today. Lot of people have missing teeth, they lose their teeth by accidents or by some disease and they’re in dilemma, how to replace that tooth? Today we have lot of choices available. One of them being dental implants. Dental implants is nothing but a artificial root structure which is placed inside the bone and on top of that, a cap is placed to replace your missing tooth. You can basically judge it buy this wherein you have a artificial root structure placed inside the bone here and on top of that, a superstructure is there on which a cap is fixed. Replacing the missing tooth. A implant is placed inside the bone by a small procedure which is basically painless and has minimum of side effects. Implants can be used for a variety of reasons or maybe clinical situation, you end up losing one tooth you can replace with the implant. You end up losing multiple teeth, you can place multiple implants. You can use implants to support your dentures which are very loose, you can end up fixing the entire tooth structure. Maybe you end up losing all your teeth, all your teeth are missing, someone tells you go for dentures, you’re not happy with your dentures, you can go for implants and get fixed teeth. There are no side effects; they work for a long time. In fact American studies say the success of dental implants is more than 95%. In today’s time moving out without teeth when science has come to this level when you can get artificial teeth as good as your natural teeth, should be a big no.

Dentistry has made a lot of progress in the past few decades and continues to do so. However, certain factors, such as injuries, gingivitis, gum disease and decay of tooth can all lead to tooth loss. Previously, bridges and dentures were the only options available, but now a new form of treatment known as ‘dental implants’ have come up. Implants are basically replacements to your broken or damaged teeth and can function just like the way your original teeth did. Implants also provide a strong foundation and have a success rate of around 98 per cent.
The advantages of dental implants are the following:
- Implants help you eat easily as they act like your natural teeth. Owing to this, implants score over dentures.
- Since implants look like your natural teeth, they can give you back the smile you need and hence you appear confident and feel better about yourself.
- Implants are durable and can last a lifetime which makes it advantageous over other dental procedures.
- Implants are permanently fused to your bone and help to improve your speech as they are fitted properly to avoid any sort of slip.
Are you suited for a dental implant?
The answer is obviously yes and in fact, anyone suffering from dental concerns can go for dental implant. Being healthy for routine extraction and other oral surgeries deem you eligible and fit for dental implant procedures. However, the minimum necessity is healthy gums if you are considering dental implants. But, it is always advisable to consult your dentist.
Implants require regular visits to your dentist and maintaining proper oral hygiene is a must. If you are a regular smoker or have chronic disorders such as diabetes and heart disease or have had radiation therapy done on your neck or head region previously, then you may have to consult your dentist before zeroing in on dental implants.
