My dad was 53 years old and he is diabetes for past six months, how to cure that completely.
Only way is to treat the condition with either oral anti diabetic drugs or give insulin injections for life time. Along with this he has to avoid sugar, sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods and pastries. Exercise regularly for at least 1 h a day. He has to adapt a modified life style to remain fit and under control.

It could be because of gastritis or something cardiac. You should definitely meet a general physician and get ecg done to rule out ischaemia. And if its just gastritis. Here are some home remedies for you :- - Skip the aerated drinks as well as the caffeine. Opt for herbal tea instead.  - Have a glass of lukewarm water everyday.  - Include banana, watermelon and cucumber in your daily diet. Watermelon juice is great for curing acidity.  - Nariyal paani is known to soothe the system if you suffer from acidity.  - Drink a glass of milk - everyday.  - Have your last meal at least two to three hours before you hit the sack.  - Keeping long intervals between meals is another cause for acidity. Have small but regular meals.  - Try to avoid pickles, spicy chutneys, vinegar, etc.  - Boil some mint leaves in water and have a glass of this after meals.

Hi Doctor,
I am 24 years old boy. My height is 5'7" and weight is just 51 kg. According to BMI, my weight is low but ...
1. You need to focus on Health & Fitness through good diet + exercise. 2. Current focus on belly, Weight etc will not lead you anywhere. 3. Do not focus on external visuals. 4. Focus on building internal strength and fitness. 5. Eat a good balanced diet. 6. Do regular exercise for an hour daily. 7. This will solve all your problems.

At your age some children will experience memory problems because of hormonal imbalances and its accompanying distractions. You may also be under some stress. So if you handled stress better, you will certainly improve. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. Recently they have discovered that moderate consumption of red wine and peanuts do help. You may also meet with a counselor to take care of the stress related emotions, and then you will fare better too. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid junk food.

Preterm Labor: What You Should Know

Premature labor is also known as preterm labor. This is the term given when the body gets ready for an early delivery in the pregnancy. Labor is considered to be premature if it starts almost three weeks prior to the due date. Premature labor usually leads to early birth, but now this can be delayed with medical help. It is better that the baby grows inside you because there are fewer chances of problems after birth.

Risk of Preterm Labor:
Some of the things, which can increase the risk of a preterm labor are:

  • Being underweight or overweight before pregnancy
  • Poor prenatal care
  • Use of alcohol and drugs during pregnancy
  • Smoking
  • Health conditions, such as preeclampsia, infections, diabetes, high blood pressure and clotting disorders
  • Pregnant with a bay with birth defects
  • Getting pregnant through vitro fertilization
  • Pregnant with multiples like twins and triplets
  • Becoming pregnant soon after having a baby

Symptoms of preterm labor:
Warning signs should be heeded to stop the stop premature labor, as acting quickly can help. Consult your doctor or midwife immediately in case you have the following:

  1. Backache, especially in the lower back. Back ache can be a constant feature or might keep coming in intervals, but does not change with a change in position.
  2. Contractions that take place in each 10 minutes.
  3. A leaking feeling in the vagina or fluid leakage from the vagina.
  4. Cramps in the lower abdomen very similar to menstrual cramps. These usually give a feeling of gas pains and come with a diarrhea.
  5. Symptoms of flu like vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. Must to see a doctor if the liquids cannot be tolerated for more than 8 hours.
  6. The pressure in the vagina or pelvis increases.
  7. Vaginal discharge increases.
  8. There might be light bleeding from the vagina.

Ways to check for contractions:
To spot and early labor one must be sure to check for the contractions. Contractions can be checked by the following:

  1. When the fingertips are placed on the abdomen and the uterus feels too soft or tight then these are contractions.
  2. Contractions if felt, should be timed and the starting time of these should be noted.
  3. Contractions should be stopped by changing the position and drinking some water or by walking around.
  4. Doctor or midwife should be contacted if the contractions occur every 10 minutes and the symptoms worsen.
  5. Sometime women might experience false labor also known as Braxton Hicks contractions. These are not so strong, are erratic and stop on moving around.

Avoid combing hair with fine-toothed combs when wet. Although this is a tempting practice as hair straightens and de-tangles much easily if combed when wet, this is a common cause of breakage. The stress on the hair shaft is immense when the hair is wet resulting in weakened hair roots.
