I think you have some postural problem like scoliosis or loss of lumbar curvature due to wrong postural habits. These type of postural faults can cause pain and stiffness on neck and back. First of all one digital x-ray. Ap/lat. View is required for l-s spine. Then will decide what type of physiotherapy treatment is suitable for your problem. Takecare.

My wife has heel pain and cervical spondilisys. Can you suggest remedy and treatment?

Master of Physical Therapy MPT CARDIO, BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Rajkot
Dear, for heel pain first I will suggest you to go for weight reduction then go for physiotherapy treatment which is best for her. Go to clinic and take IFT treatment for cervical spondylosis and ultra sound therapy for heel pain. Do exercise for both under observation and learn it so you can continue at home.

For rhumatoid arithritis, only ayurveda medicine is not enough. You need body detox by panchakarma too. Contact a panchakarma expert near your home for complete cure by ayurveda.

I have low-back (left) pain for the last 3 years. While starting the scooter 4 years child standing in front, suddenly accelerated. I pulled it from behind. This resulted in my back pain. I consulted orho and neuro doctors and had internal and external medication, but no complete cure. Please advise me on the treatment.

Low back pain may be due to multiple causes and yours is due to excessive strain on back. You need an x ray or MRI LS spine to know the diagnosis. Homoeopathy has effective treatment for LBA and the approach is through improving the immunity which is deranged when made balanced with a homoeopathic medicine selected after studying your genetic make up.

My sister is 40 years old with 52 kg weight. Every morning when she wake up ,she has severe Back shoulder pain. There will be no pain afterwards. Can you suggest any home remedies?

MPTh/MPT
Physiotherapist, Gurgaon
You have to take following precautions: maintain good posture to help your shoulder muscles heal quickly you can even try some simple neck stretching exercises use a thicker pillow while sleeping to give enough support to your neck and shoulder. Practice some light stretching exercises for shoulder joint. You can use a number of different stretching methods. If unsure, consult an expert. Drink a few glasses of warm lemon water daily to prevent mineral deposits in the joints that can cause pain in your shoulder and other body parts.

Hi Thanks for your query and welcome to Lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from Fortis hospital, New Delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - To maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - If pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - Physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - Adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - Ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - Analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - Avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation. Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena Consultant Orthopaedics Fortis Hospital, New Delhi

Sir hi wanted to ask that I have a sitting job and I have nevk pain and head paun. And also paint in left arm and hand. Some times I also have pain in legs.

MPT - Orthopedic Physiotherapy, BPTh/BPT

Due to bad posture ok sit straight avoid long sitting toward bending firstly. Do stretching exercise of full spine and legs. Pain in left arm tk muscle relaxant medicine bcoz that's due to neck and strain. Apply heat fermentation for neck 20 minutes. Maintain your posture.

It may be an onset of osteoarthritis of knee. Get your x-ray b/l knee and consult an ayurvedic physician. Ayurvedic medicines along with panchkarma therapies helps relieve the pain and retards the progress of degenrative disorders like arthritis.

Hello. Uneven sleep - It can be but doesn't persist that long. So, it might be due to - *Bad posture. *Long sitting. *Long driving. *Extra weight. *Weak muscles. You should do - *Maintenance of good posture. *Proper diet. *regular exercises. *Focussed exercise over spinal component. If then also it doesn't go. Do visit a Physio to get it diagnosed and required treatment. You will find some helpful post. Regards!

Lower Back Pain - Treatment And Care Procedures!

Lower Back Pain - Treatment And Care Procedures!

Back pain is a common source of pain, which can be acute, subacute or chronic in nature. Back pain is classified along the segments of the spine and can be divided into neck pain, middle back pain, lower-back pain or tailbone pain.

Lower back pain is a type of back pain, which affects the lower back portion of the body. It may occur from arthritis or due to sudden jerking during movement. Lower-back pain may cause serious discomfort and aching and may disable a person from moving about. It should be treated and cared for properly.

Here are several treatments and care procedures for lower-back pain:

  1. Take some rest: Most people who get lower-back pain get obsessed with it and end up getting MRI scans, x-rays done and take injections without recognizing the intensity of the pain. It is advised not to rush into the matter. A simple way to cure the pain is by resting. 90% of lower back pains resolve by themselves in 6 weeks and so you must give your back a break instead of taking medical action and give your back some to heal.
  2. Pills: Sometimes, a lower back pain can suddenly become severe. In this case, you should intake anti-inflammatory pills such as ibuprofen or naproxen. These pills will help you ease the pain. However, you should not take them for more than ten days at a stretch as continuous pill consumption can cause side effects.
  3. Hot & cold compress: Apply a bag of frozen peas or an ice pack to the affected area in your lower back for 48 hours after the pain appears. Every session should be about of 20 minutes and you should take several sessions each day. After two days, repeat the same procedure using a heat pad. The cooling procedure shuts down your blood capillaries, reducing the flow of blood to the affected area. The swelling is then eased. The heating, on the other hand, loosens tight muscles and helps to increase blood circulation.
  4. Replace your mattress: People who sleep on firm mattresses and cushions on their beds are at a higher risk of experiencing lower-back pain. If you sleep on a medium-firm mattress, your chances of getting lower-back pain are less. In case your mattress is sagging or is very old, you should replace it.
  5. Acupuncture: When your lower-back pain is very severe, you can take acupuncture injections, which provide efficient pain relief. The injections change the way your nerves react and inflammation gets reduced.

Lower-back pain is likely to cause great discomfort and trouble. You will be unable to carry out your daily chores because of the pain. Therefore, proper treatment and care are required for lower-back pain. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an orthopedist and ask a free question.
