Iam a mother of 6 month baby. Please suggest me most beneficial food that help me and my baby?
After the age of six months, babies need complementary food along with breastmilk. Fresh, home cooked foods which have a thick, soft consistency are best for babies when you start complementary feeding.

I have a new born baby but I give him breast feeding so my mother said do not eat mangoes but I luv mangoes what I should do plzzzz help me.

MD - Paediatrics

You can definitely eat mangoes. Mango is a good fruit if you can digest it properly. Tell your mother the benefit of eating mangoes. Or else take her to your pediatrician. He/she will be able to counsel her.

My son is 4. 10 yrs in age and rubs his eyes a lot? can his eyes be weak? should I get an eyesight test done?

Pediatrician, Ghaziabad
Age is 4 yr and 10 months, if I am correct. Most common cause is dust and enviormental allergen for itchy eyes. You can go for a vision test if itching persists even after avoiding allergens

Hello, my child is 3. 5 years. He doesnt eat properly. In fact we have to force feed him every time. He is not a fan any particular food. He weighs only 14kgs. Please suggest me how to increase his appetite since he is not interested in trying out new food. He looks too thin.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Stop force feeding him. Let him enjoy his own choice. We can not contro chldren's behaviour. At 3. 5 years his weight is in normal range. You seem to worry unnecessarily like many of us.

I have a 5 month old baby girl. I am feeding her with enfamil formula and cerelac . What else can I give her ? What can I do to increase breast milk?

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
We advise only breast feeds up to six months, later onwards home diet mashed and made thin so that child is able to swallow. In your case instead of breast milk formula feed. For increasing breast secretions frequent breast feeding works best. In your case it is irrelevant. I don't prefer cerelac, certainly not before six months. Hope this helps.

Tips for Parents to Deal with Autistic Children

The moment when you learn about your child being autistic can be a life changing moment for you. You might feel all the dreams and aspirations which you built around your child come crashing down on a pile of zilch. However, recent developments in this field show that you can certainly take steps to make your child more comfortable and bond well with them.

Autism related disorder usually begin before the age of 3, when the child starts encountering problems in communication and social interaction. This article tries to help you find a way to deal with an autistic child:

  1. Learn more about autism: Learn about autism as much as you can; a broad understanding of the causes and symptoms of the disorder can help you understand your child better. This will also enable you to respond to your child’s needs better, both physical and psychological.
  2. Build a strong support system: It is difficult to parent a child who is suffering from autism. Communicating and interacting with your child might be extremely difficult and problematic. In order to overcome this stress, you should have a strong support network, a support network from which you can draw your strength and logic once you have to take major life decisions for your child.
  3. Review your treatment options: It is advisable to start treatment immediately after the diagnosis is done. Early treatment can help better your child’s cognitive skills that can help him/her cope better with the surroundings and circumstances. The treatment options include behavioral training whereby self-help or social skills training is used to work on the child’s communication skills and behavior. Specialized therapy is another option whereby the therapies are directed at a particular aspect of the child, primarily speech or physical functioning.
  4. Focus on your child’s diet: Diet plays an important role in the regularization of any disease. Even in case of autism, deficiency of certain vitamins or minerals makes it very important to analyze the diet and then assess it. Consult with the doctor before making any modification to the child’s diet.
  5. Behavioral training: Behavioral training is an aspect of autism treatment that allows the child to adapt to various conditions. Before a child undergoes behavioral training, it is advised to assess his/her behavior, functional abilities and the environment your child belongs to. The objective of this therapy or training is to induce desired behavior and get rid of the undesirable ones. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a psychiatrist and ask a free question.

My daughter most of teeth is having cavity how can I prevent it, as she is just 3 year old.

MD, MBBS
Pediatrician, Bangalore
Your daughter either must be bottle fed or taking to much sugar. Night time keeping bottle for long time in mouth while sleeping is commonest cause of caries, frequent fruit juices, health drinks, sticking sweet candies are also frequent causes. So please avoid all these. Proper brushing both times with fluorinated tooth paste is important. Consult dentist to prevent further progress to other teeth and gums.

Dear Mr. Lybrate-user, the problem you are facing is not uncommon. Some children are more shy and reserved than others and it is perfectly normal. However, this shyness becomes a problem if it interferes with our functioning in the society as a normal human being. If you think that your child's social life is getting affected by this, please consult a child counsellor.

Hi my 40 days old newborn gets lot of gas and he used to fart a lot two weeks before. Lately he is not able to fart. He struggles alot. So doc gave Neopeptine drops to help me pass the wind. Also she gave colicaid if the child gets close. Can you explain what are two drops for. As I feel both means the same. And why so much of gas is formed in this body. Its too much as compared to other kids.

Hi my 40 days old newborn gets lot of gas and he used to fart a lot two weeks before. Lately he is not able to fart. ...
Hello, It seems both the syrups are used for the same cause. Farting is quite normal in infants, producing gas in digestive system due to underdeveloped digestive organs. Gas producing intakes I.e.sitrus fruits, gaseous food may produce flatulence in your baby transferred through breastfeeding, hence avoid them. If your baby after farting is happy, nothing is serious to her health. You should put your baby on your shoulder to burp after breastfeeding to reduce farting. Tk, care.

Swim, hang from bars. Have a balanced die (protein rich, sleep, exercise, play basketball. Check your 25 (oh) vitd3 levels. Height has a large genetic influence. But with active stretching and stimulus some additional growth is possible. Hope this helps.
