Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching Towel Hamstring Stretch Lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it.. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated Hamstring Stretch While sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds Repeat 3 times for each leg.

I am an 18year old female, and I have cervical spondylosis for the last 2years. Can you suggest some exercises for me?

The best exercises are those involving stretching the neck backwards, as that works against cervical spondylosis. In yoga, start doing bhujangasana, tadasana, gomukhasana etc. Don't use pillows while sleeping. Put cow ghee 2 drops in nose daily. Massage with medicated oil followed by fomentation. This will relax the muscles. If it is more, then go for greeva vasti at a panchakarma centre.

Kindly show me digital x rays of your shoulder. rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Do hot fomentation any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikind plus (mankind) 1tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Do neck & shoulder exercises it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Firstly take physiotherapy treatment for relief swd tens and ultrasonic therapy after relief start stretching exercise and strength exercise avoid long sitting and toward bending.

My father has back bone pain problem. When he sit for a long time his backbone at lower side pains too much. When we go to x-ray and other report got swelling in lower backbone at the end. Is thepain only in your back? does it radiate down to legs? if not then you should start ficussing on maintaining good posture while working or studying, you shouldn't lie down and study or watch tv. Doe regular back strengthening exercises.

Do some stretching exercises of upper back and lateral sides. Sometimes muscle sores develop, it can be due to one side sleeping or lying, sitting incorrect position for long time. Muscle gets tight so before running do warmup exercises of body also. Take hot water formentation too.

My wife fell down from my bike at her back with holding kid. Fortunately, kid didn't get anything hit as she covered from her front. It has been there for 8 days and she says she's feeling inner pain at lower back pain and hand elbow. I am planning to take her to the doctor. But, I guess, they definitely ask us go for x-ray or some scanning. Could you please suggest what would be the treatment for this to take care of her?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Management for soft tissue injuries, ice packs intensively at home - limb elevation especially lower limbs at night while sleeping - take a gentle anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol provided it suits your body for 3-5 days - local analgesic spray like dynapar qps can be used after ice fomentation but kindly make sure that there is bony injury because management is entirely different for that. What exactly is a spine block injection? Will it work long-term for low back pain due to disc problems?
Hello lybrate user, spine block injections are different types of injections which target the pain generating sites. The rationale is to inject an anesthetic agent (block the nerves which sense pain) into the structures which are generating pain. This can be used for diagnosis of or confirmation of a painful structure suspected to be the pain generator. This can also be used for treatment of painful structures, but the relief is mostly for a short term, 3 to 4 months usually. You might also require multiple injections for a longer duration of relief. Some surgeons use a steroid medication for injection as well. This is mainly to decrease the inflammatory component irritating the nerve roots. Steroid injections also give a temporary relief but can have a lasting effect if inflammatory component is the major culprit compared to a mechanical compression of the nerves. But, the decision making for use of injections is quite complex and I would suggest you to consult a spine surgeon experienced in injection techniques for a complete clinical assessment and the right injection for you. You must avoid forward bending. If you are driving bike then on bumps or uneven road, you must go without jerks. Drink plenty of water in summer. One glass of lemon juice with sugar, salt, water. If not relieved get an x-ray of lumbar spine done. Consult orthopaedic surgeon.

Dear abhi. You in 12 years and legs in pain. So sad of you. But do not worry. Take calcium and vitamin test. As per reports you can take treatment. As of now at home apply heat fermentation and do leg excercises. Lying flat on bed straight legraising knee bending. If not consult physiotherapist.
