lybrate-user, If you have hypothyroidism, then treatment with thyroxine needs to be started. With treatment it is essential to bring TSH level between 3 to 4 mU/L, then only all the symptoms will be in check. Thanks.

Mr. Lybrate-user, a value of 7.9 milli units/ml of tsh is high. It is referred as sub clinical hypothyroidism. Usually there is no treatment indicated at this stage. It also important to see the t4 values, if those are low then there may be a need for treatment. Orelse if patient is experiencing any specific problem indicating hypothyroidism, then treatment may be required.

You can take Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, avoid oily foods, junk foods, go for walk. Tests every 3 to 6 months.i.e. t3,t4,tsh, also do vit.D. and vit. B., s.calcium.

Hello doctor, Iam 24 years old male. A doctor friend of mine advised me to have vit B complex tabs for 1 to 2 weeks, 1 tab a day. He advised that vit B complex is very necessary for diabetes and development of blood platelets in the body and that this vit is not harnessed in the body and its btr to these tabs generally after meals 1 tab a day. So I hv brought BEPLEX FORTE tabs which is of 260mcg. But I wanted to clarify from another doctor if its okay to have these and also about the dosage and also if these are okay for my mom she si 52 years old than in advance.

Mr Mradul, There is no need for taking B complex tablets regularly for a diabetes patient, unless there is deficiency of vitamins. Plus I am not aware if B complex vitamins are required for development of platelets. Most often our balanced diet gives enough vitamins and minerals. If you still want to take it, you go ahead.

I understand your sentiments when you say that you want to control your diabetes without medicines. I want to tell you that it is possible. But only for those patients who are at a very early stage of diabetes which means that they have very low sugar derangement which can be handled by exercise and diet alone. Only way to know that is by trying dietary compliance and good exercise regime. After these efforts if your sugar gets in control then you can sure that you can avoid medicines. But remember two things. Checking of sugars should be regular. One time control does not mean consistent control. Second, if your sugars are out of control then don't keep avoiding medicines because your body is facing the bad effects of diabetes already.
