I am a 19 year old male. For about 4-5 days now, I've been having pain around my anus. The pain began after a rather intense bowel movement. Since the pain began, sitting, shifting position in bed, and many other simple movements bring moderate pain. Pain is made worse with a bowel movement and with an erection. Pain has been made better with exercise, a hot bath, or by passing gas. I would like to know possible conditions, the severity of each, and treatment.

MBBS, MS, DNB
Pediatrician, Delhi
You might be having fissure in ano. That is condition when there is anal mucosal tear when you pass hard stools and due to spasm of anal sphincter. Take some laxative at bedtime so you pass soft stool and continue with sitz bath. If pain persists go and see your surgeon.

Dear , please get urine test done either to confirm or rule out infection. It is likely that your father had chronic prostatitis before surgery and proper long term antibiotics. Secondly surgeon may not have completed the job thoroughly and may have left some prostate behind. Thirdly he may have developed postoperative stricture; narrowing of urethra which may need dilatation to put it right. Lastly he may have anal fissure due to passage of hard faeces which is giving him the trouble you mentioned.

I think worms may not be cause. You should apply pilex ointment in anus twice daliy after coming from toilet and take trifala guggulu tablet. Dose is 1-2 tablet twice daily with plain water after food.

No not at all. But it is always good to consume all protein sources instead of sticking to one source as all sources yield all essential amino acids. Which are good for gaining muscles nd losing weight.

7 Secrets To Kidney Health
7 Secrets To Kidney Health:

You can do a number of things to keep your kidneys functioning properly and keep them as healthy as possible at every stage of life :

1.Hydrate, but don’t overdo it:

It’s always a good idea to drink enough water, drinking more than the typical four to six glasses a day probably won’t help your kidneys do their job any better.
Eat healthy foods. Your kidneys can tolerate a wide range of dietary habits, kidney problems arise out of other medical conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. Because of this, he suggests you follow healthy, moderate eating habits to control weight and blood pressure. Preventing diabetes and high blood pressure will help keep kidneys in good condition.

2. Exercise regularly:

If you’re healthy, getting your exercise is a good idea because, like healthy eating habits, regular physical activity can stave off weight gain and high blood pressure. But do be mindful of how much exercise you do, especially if you’re not conditioned.“Overexerting yourself when you’re not fit and healthy can put a strain on your kidneys, especially if you exercise so much that you cause excessive breakdown of muscle

3.Use caution with supplements and herbal remedies:
Excessive amounts of certain vitamin supplements and some herbal extracts may be harmful to your kidneys. Talk to your doctor about any vitamins and herbs you plan to take.

4.Quit smoking:
Smoking can damage blood vessels, which decreases the flow of blood in the kidneys. When the kidneys don’t have adequate blood flow, they can’t function at optimal levels. Smoking also increases the risk of high blood pressure as well as the risk of kidney cancer.

6.Don’t overdo it when taking over-the-counter medications:
“Common non-prescription pills like ibuprofen and naproxen (NSAID’s) can cause kidney damage if taken too regularly over a prolonged period,” If you have healthy kidneys and use these medicines for occasional pain, they probably don’t pose a risk.If you take them for chronic pain or arthritis, you should talk to your doctor about monitoring your kidney function or finding alternative ways to control your pain.

7.If you’re at risk, get regular kidney function screening. “If you have either diabetes or high blood pressure, your physician should screen for kidney dysfunction as part of routine care for those conditions,”

Report after 15 days Instead of reducing your calcium intake, focus on limiting the sodium in your diet. Extra sodium causes you to lose more calcium in your urine, putting you at risk for developing another stone. Limit your sodium to 2,000 milligrams each day. There are many sources of hidden sodium such as canned or commercially processed foods as well as restaurant-prepared and fast foods. Calcium oxalate kidney stones are the leading type of kidney stones. Oxalate is naturally found in many foods, including fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, grains, legumes, and even chocolate and tea. Some examples of foods that contain high levels of oxalate include: peanuts, spinach, beets, chocolate and sweet potatoes. Another common type of kidney stone is a uric acid stone. Red meat and shellfish have high concentrations of a natural chemical compound known as a purine. High purine intake leads to a higher production of uric acid which then accumulates as crystals in the joints, or as stones in the kidneys. To prevent uric acid stones, cut down on high-purine foods such as red meat, organ meats, and shellfish, and follow a healthy diet that contains mostly vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and low fat dairy products. Limit sugar-sweetened foods and drinks, especially those that contain high fructose corn syrup. Limit alcohol because it can increase uric acid levels in the blood and avoid crash diets for the same reason. Eating less animal-based protein and eating more fruits and vegetables will help decrease urine acidity and this will help reduce the chance for stone formation. You should also be sure to drink at least 6-8 glass of water a day to help reduce the risk for stone formation.

I am 34 years old female. Three years back i was diagnosed with Grade 1 renal cell carcinoma. Neohron sparing surgery was performed. Six monthly checkups are done namely Ultrasound, xray and blood tests. All my reports are normal except RBC count this is showing reduced to around 4.0 to 4.4 million per cm since the surgery. Also ESR is slightly elevated. Hemoglobin has been normal throughout. MRI scan done after a year is also normal. Please suggest if this can have any indication? What could be the reason? Creatinine levels have been well within limits.

Well, since hemoglobin is normal, things are fine as last step of blood formation is from kidneys. And that is all fine. Esr can be increased in many situations like fever, bodyache. Its just a marker of inflammation. So no need to worry. All the best.
