I have backache from last 24 days. I have been taking dolo from last 21 days but no relief. What should I do?
This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear mcr chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Apply ice or hot pack for 5 to 10 minutes. Take rest for 3 to 4 days don't do gym. Consult physio if pain is still persist after 10 days consult orthopedics. Avoid prolonged standing, forward bending, weight lifting, two wheeler driving etc.

Hello im siya 28 years old. Since 2 years im having upper back right side pain along with rib pain from side in right. I did everything bt its nt cured pain pattern different throughout the day and even hours. sometime chronic sometime mild. Im so depressed cuz of dis. Can not do any job cuz of dat. Could anyone help me in dis n advice me it is curable or nt. Affected area of right is shoulder, shoulder blades, and rib cage of right side. Thanks.

Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

In life one has to make adjusment if you want to drive bike it has to be slow do hot formentation, do spinal exercis very very careful on speed braker & ditches.

Myotonia congenita (Thomsen disease and Becker type) What is myotonia congenita? Myotonia congenita is an inherited myopathy, a disease that causes problems with the tone and contraction of skeletal muscles. It doesn’t cause muscle atrophy (shrinkage); instead, it sometimes can cause muscle enlargement and increased muscle strength. There are two types of myotonia congenita: Becker-type myotonia is the most common form, while Thomsen disease is a very rare, relatively mild form. What are the symptoms of myotonia congenita? The main problems faced by people with this disease are delayed muscle relaxation and muscle stiffness, typically provoked by sudden movements after rest. What causes myotonia congenita? This disease is caused by mutations in the gene for a chloride channel that’s necessary for shutting off the electrical excitation that causes muscle contraction. The Becker type is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern, meaning it is produced by defective genes contributed by both parents. The Thomsen type is autosomal dominant, meaning it is produced by a defective gene contributed by one parent. What is the progression of myotonia congenita? Myotonia congenita has its onset in early to late childhood and does not progress. Someone who has myotonia congenita can lead a long, productive life, and can even excel at sports where strength is more important than agility. Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. I'm 47 year male, do walking and jogging, but while stretching down forward l pulled up my back. It becomes very difficult for me to sit and stand straight. Immediately do I need to see a doctor.?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you, if there is an associated muscle spasm, you are also advised to add a muscle relaxant for next 5-7 days - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute for 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Hi sir this is because of over use. And sitting in bad posture try to avoid continuous sitting on laptop do hot fermentation daily 15 min shoulder exercises 15 min wall arc ,swing and up down side wise daily. My clinic is in noida come any time I am doing myotherapy it's 90℅advance to physiotherapy. Will relieve you in first session.

Suddenly pain has started in my tail bone area from last 3 days. Particularly while changing posture I. E sitting, getting up, lifting legs, changing posture while sleeping, getting into the car.

Requires detailed examination & investigations. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid, vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful. Use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Bio d3 max 1 tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that the patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that patient is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, inform.
