Hi Lybrate-user, There are many causes of mouth ulcers which may be - -stress in the body -excess heat - a sharp tooth edge causing injury leading to ulcer -nutritional problems, such as vitamin b 12 deficiency - iron & or folic acid deficiency Treatment remedies for mouth ulcers :- -drink 2-3 liters water per day - avoid hot & spicy foods - take good nutritional foods -reduce stress by stress relieving activities of your choice -you can take b -complex capsules (e. G. Becosules capsule) once in a day for 1 week for faster recovery -apply mouth ulcer gel (e.g. ANABEL -CT / DENTOGEL / DOLOGEL) over affected area It is always advisible to consult a dentist or physician and getting root cause of ulcer checked before jumping to any treatment remedies. Is they any home remedy to whiten the teeth my teeth are red and it don't look presentable.

Is they any home remedy to whiten the teeth my teeth are red and it don't look presentable.
Naturally our teeth colour ranges from pearly white to pale yellow so everyone cannot hv white teeth. Get scalling n polishing done by dentist. If you r not happy with your teeth shade later, you can get bleaching done by dentist which'll lighten your teeth by 2-3 shades. Alternatively you can use a teeth whitening toothpaste such as snowdent after scalling. Whitening gels used daily along with customized dental trays provided by dentist r also available in the market. Avoid heavily coloured foods, tea n coffee, cool drinks, smoking n tobacco products as they stain teeth.

Crown will not lead to any type of tooth decay. You can go ahead for crowns without hesitation. There are other alternate also like orthodontic treatment, composite or ceramic veneers. But which is best for you I need to know the position of teeth and proper evaluation of space available.

There r two types of stain which will be present on teeth intrinsic stains due to flouride or due to pan masala and due to any medicine during development of tooth extrinsic stains are due to tobacco habiit, tea stains, food particle stains, cigarette stains etc. Extrinsic stains are on surface of teeth removed by full mouth scaling and polishing. Intrinsic stain require bleaching procedure to reduce or remove stain base on depth of stain.

Dear bleeding from gums can have numerous causes but the most common cause of the problem is poor/inadequate oral hygiene maintenance. Over a period of time the gum tissues surrounding the tooth get infected and swollen and start bleeding even by the slightest provocation. As is evident from your question you have been concerned about your problem for quite some time now and have on your part tried to cure it by changing tooth pastes. Actually the problem is more related to our faulty and inadequate brushing technique. What you need to do now is to visit a dentist & get a professional dental cleaning done. Once that is done get into the habit of brushing at least twice daily, regular rinsing of mouth and flossing. Pleas take instructions from your dentist for the proper technique to brush and floss. That should keep your gum healthy and you happy. Regards.

I'm currently under orthodontics treatment in my own college since last 5 months for slight overcrowding and twisted lateral incisors in mandibular arch. I noticed no effects of the treatment. Proximal stippling was done between premolars. I had no periodontal problems earlier. I maintain proper oral hygiene. Rectangular wire was placed 5 days ago. Today I noticed my gingiva to be edematous above the molar tubes in maxillary right quadrant. I do not wish to continue with the treatment since there are no visible effects on the tooth that was twisted. I had explained this to the concerned staff before rectangular wire was placed. They simply want to complete the case with or without prognosis and results. Is it necessary to complete the treatment? They are not willing to remove the braces without full payment. Is it possible for me to remove the braces in some other private clinic? I've noticed my teeth have become more sensitive since the treatment started. Please kindly.

Hi, your concern is valid. After proximal stripping, there are chances of sensitivity. As I do mot know your case history, I cannot comment if stripping was the only option for creating space between teeth. Stripping in between premolars is rather unheard of. Usually if required, that to with no other option, incisors are stripped. Initail 2-3 months is required for teeth to get used to the force. Tooth movement should be rather gradual or else it'll resorb the roots of your teeth. Bodily movement of the teeth would be noticeable after 7-8 months of the treatment. You can continue your treatment at a private clinic as well, but ensure that the orthodontist is well experienced and reputed and is good in talking to his patients. That'll build up your confidence in the doctor and the treatment as well. Have patience and good luck.

Flossing is as important as brushing on a daily basis. Taking the floss all the way down to the point where the teeth and gums meet is the appropriate way of doing it.

I am 42 years old and I have a problem of sensitivity in my teeth. Which is the best medicine for that to cure them.
Sensitivity may be due to caries in teeth or cervical abrasion. If you have caries then you need to fill the tooth/teeth. Or if you have mild abrasions then you may ho for sensitivity toothpastes. If abrsions are severe then you may need to fill that.

Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - Floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - Control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - Rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - Stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - Eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - Try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a "water pick," to clear debris from around the gum line. - Have your dentures aligned as needed. - You may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.
