It may be normal. But if you want you can check with an eye doctor (as a routine checkup). You can regulate your sleep and overall energy level by starting to exercise everyday. You can also learn Yoga ( including pranayam and meditation ) as it will rejuvenate the whole body and mind.

Dear lybrate user, red eyes could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power

These may be early warning signs Dry Eye Syndrome. Try to reduce the computer working time, take 4-5 minutes break after every 40 minutes working. Use safety measures while working with computer. Wash eyes with clean plain water 3-4 times. Use any standard company like Himalaya herbal eye drops twice in a day or prepare a Trifala decoction by adding Trifala in 200 ml water boil for 5 minutes, allowed to cool and wash your eyes once or twice in a day. In the beginning 2-3 days there will be mucus secretion form eyes later subsides. Take Trfala powder 5 gm +Glucose 5 gm and Cow Ghee 10 gm mix together and consume at bed time with warm water for 1-2 months. Use protective spectacle during computer working.

Blackish or grayish floating images are generally called floaters and are not cause of concern. But you should get your eyes examined by a retina specialist to rule out any abnormality.

Hi. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers, mobile phones and books. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. Hope my suggestions help you. Take care. Cheers.

What causes watery eyes? Is it necessary to have the eyes operated to get over the problem resolved or can one put eye drops to over come the same. In case yes, then which eye drops?

FVRS, DNB Ophthalmology, MS Ophthalmology, MBBS, FICO
Ophthalmologist, Chennai
Watery eyes with discharge might be due to two reasons. The first might be a blockage of the nasolacrimal duct ( the tube that connects the eye with the nose) . In such a case , if antibiotic drops do not resolve the blockage a surgery might be required to overcome the block. The second cause of watery itchy eyes might be dryness of the eyes which cause reflex secretion of tears. This can be treated by lubricant eye drops
