Hello. You probably want to avoid the following things first come first: a. Avoid liftiing very heavy weights. Use proper lifting technique if needed to carry weights: Squat down and bend from your knees instead from your back directly b. Always keep things close to your body while lifting even if it is light weighted or heavy weighted For your back, you want to stop sitting crossed legs on the floor and sitting on a chair for a longer time. This increases your back pain because your body tends to bend forwards. This is a strict no for that pain. Try tucking your tummy inside, without holding your breadth (5-10% contraction) while walking, sitting, standing, getting up from the bed in the morning and turning sides on the bed While sleeping, preferable position to lie down is on your either sides or on your stomach. Keep a pillow between your legs, below the knees and keep one pillow under your stomach if you are lying on your tummy. Also, avoid bending forwards for a while. If your pain reduces then continue doing the same things further. Takecare. Thank you.

Hello. I don't know why. But my right knee pains. From outside. I mean from right side. It started when I started run...
Hello. I read your problem for your right side knee pain. Pain while running indicates that you have a muscle strain in the main hip and knee muscle. It is known as runner's knee. I would like you to apply ice pack for 15 minutes exactly on the length of that painful structure called IT Band. (Look for the location of the muscle from internet) It is on the outer part of the thigh. Do gentle massage on that muscle with a stick or a foam roller if you have for 5 minutes. Use some thick and hard structure on it. Avoid running on the uneven ground, wear proper running shoes and always stretch your calf muscle and quadriceps muscle before running in standing position. Look for images on google. Stretching should be 30secs-1 minute long for muscle to elongate properly Without any jerks. For knee-apply ice pack again if you have pain above 5/10 and swelling. Feel free to post further questions Thank you.

Hello. You can go ahead with a good lumbar belt that covers the entire lower back for support. It can be the simplest one. Brand does not matter. Also, the best thing to be done at this time is ask your mother to hold in her belly button in as 10-15% contraction and maintain that during her day to day activities. That is while standing, getting up from bed, sitting on a chair, standing in the kitchen and especially while doing household chores and liftiing objects. The reason to do is- her core muscles are weak and that is the real cause of back pain, By doing this contraction, she would minimize the risk of worsening her back pain and GIVES A NATURAL SUPPORT TO HER CORE WITHOUT WEARING THE BELT FOR ALL DAY LONG. Feel free for providing further details and reports. Thank you.

Hello. I understand that your knee pain problem. I advise you to continue woth your current medicines and I would like to suggest doing some knee exercises. They are the best ones for curing your knee pain. As a part of aging, your calcium levels are bound to go down and that is why knee pain is a commn problem. This can be surely cured. Perform the following exercises: 1. Press the knee down under a towel and hold it for 5-10 secs and relax it. You are targeting the main muscle of the knee, quadriceps which usually weakens after pain. DO 10 times on each knee. 2. Press the heels down on the towel and hold it for 5-10 secs. Here you target hamstrings muscle which is at the back of your thighs. These two are the important exercises. 3. Also, move your ankles up and down for 10-20 times. Repeat for 5 times. DO slow and gentle movemnts Remember, the key to get the best result is doing slow and controlled movements so that you specifically target the affected muscles. Feel free to ask more questions. Thank you.

Hello. This is a very common problem seen in student population becaus they tend to attend lectures, walk to and fro and always in a hurry for study work and assignments and presentations. Pain in the morning is the main symptom. Best way to get rid of this pain is: 1. Take a bottle filled with iced water and gently rub under your heel to and fro. 2. Rub a tennis ball under the heel where the tissue ends. That is the main point of stress and you feel the maximum pain there. 3. Sit on a chair and gently curl your toes towards you. This will stretch the backside of your heel tissue. This is where your main problem is. The tissue is called plantar fascia. 4. Once your pain settles down, start with some calf muscle stretching against the wall. Use google to see the best picture for the stretch. Hold the stretch for 30 secs-1 minute till the time the tissue is stretched to the point of pain and then relax it Thank you.

Back Care At Office Hours

With the monotonous workimg shifts of 9-5pm, we often forget to take care of our back which is an integral part of our body. As per the statistics, nearly 65% of the working individuals or it professionals suffer from tremendous back pain (low back pain) being the commonest. It is seen in young as well as middle aged population who sit on a chair without a good low back support and work on their desktops and laptops which are not even at a good level of their eyes thus causing repetitive stress and strain in their eyes leading to low back pain and neck pain. The main reasons are unsupported sitting on the office chair, improper position of the laptop, not taking enough breaks in between work schedule, not drinking enough water to stay hydrated which provides good nutrition to the discs of our spine!

Follow this simple step to relieve the constant stress and strain on the back

1. Mandatory to take short breaks in between work to ease out the stress on the spine
2. Stand near the table/desk to perform back bending with hands behind the hips and gently bend your back behind without any jerks or discomfort. Move till the point of pain or discomfort and come back to your starting position. By doing so, you are reducing the pressure on your disc which is a red flag sign for spondylosis, disc herniation or other low back pain problems.
3. Hydrate yourself properly with at least 10-12 glasses of water daily in order to maintain the nutrition of the discs between the bones of the spine called vertebrae.
(this maintains the height of the vertebrae and does not produce friction between the two causing symptoms)
4. Always identify your symptoms like pain, discomfort, stress, tightness around the back, inability to do complete movements, stiffness, difficulty in walking or working on a laptop for long hours. Consult a physiotherapist for the same as exercises are the best way to heal any problem of the spine
