Hi Lybrate user Need to improve your self- esteem. Our self-esteem is how we value and perceive ourself. When we have healthy self-esteem, we tend to see positive about ourself but when our self-esteem is low we tend to see ourself and our life in a more negative and critical way. For improving your self-esteem you have to think positive about yourself. Nothing is more important than how you feel and think about yourself. Be your own best friend, take care of yourself, spend ten minutes writing down everything good you can think about yourself. Do something that makes you happy. It can be helpful to remind yourself that you have the right to feel good about who you are. The more you think in a positive way the more positive you feel. For better improvement you can opt counselling sessions. Thanks.

My exams are going on currently, I don't know why I am feeling afraid, even though I am studying, I sometimes feel that I have not studied anything, even though I am not feeling hungry a day before the exam.

HI Lybrate user If you prepare for the exam properly you should do fine, there is no need to worry excessively just believe in yourself. But if you find you don't understand some of your course material take help from teacher or your classmates. Don't try to be perfect just do your best. Confiding in someone you trust and who will be supportive is a great way to alleviate stress and worry. Try to think positive such as- "I will do my best" "I have done it before so I can do it again" etc. When you feel excessive stress just close your eyes and take several long slow deep breaths. Believe in yourself and just do your best. All The Best.

Hi Lybrate user Guilt is a normal emotion and a personal response to our wrong choices, but if we think positive, it is an opportunity to acknowledge and rectify mistakes. You should be try to understand that no one is perfect everyone lacks something and it is human nature to make mistakes and bad choices from time to time so pl don't be too harsh on yourself. Things will happen in your life, you will react to them one way, you may be right or you may be wrong in your responses. Past is over you can't control it try to forget it and focus on your present. Spend some time with your hobby, your family and friends. Enjoy a happy and healthy life. Thanks.

HI Lybrate user As a parent, at first you should try to divert her attention and spend quality time and give proper love and affection, tell her some real stories of great persons. Indulge her in outdoor games. Provide her some play opportunities that support different kinds of learning styles such as blocks- will develop your child's creative expression and problem solving skills. Ask about what she is learning in school. Offer her some positive reinforcement that will inspire her to keep learning or good behavior. Thanks.

Why do I feel fear & nervous for things, low confidence level, fear of loss (phobia) etc.
HI LIBRATE USER When our insecurities interfere with our ability to accept our social or emotional functioning we feel fear and nervousness. You should try to improve your self esteem by acknowledge your positive qualities and things you are good at. Get into the habit of thinking and saying positive things about yourself. Don't be critical about yourself, make a list of your good qualities and believe them, believe in yourself. Allow yourself a treat time to time, congratulate yourself for a well done task etc. You can't achieve everything in a day but you can start taking steps to enhance the way you feel. Thanks.

HI LIBRATE USER The first step to overcoming your negative thoughts are - you should try to understand and recognize your negative thoughts. Recognize what you have been thinking negatively. Then try to change the negative thought in to positive one. Ex- if you are worried on what could go wrong in a situation, change your thoughts to what could go right. Our mind is a creature of habits so encourage positive thoughts and eliminate the negative thoughts. Try to remind yourself that negative thoughts are only thoughts it has no power. So try to replace them with positive thoughts. Do some outdoor activities, spend time with your hobbies, try to live a happy life. Thanks.

HI LIBRATE USER Almost all people miss something about home when they are away from home. You may feel homesick. Homesickness can affect people of all ages in almost any situation, be relaxed. There are some steps you can take to help yourself. Try to do something fun to forget about being homesick, think positively about your job and your future to feel better. Try to do some similar activities in your new environment. Eat your favourite food from your home, listen your favourate songs. Try to keep your focus positive its important to look at the good side of your work profile and new opportunities. Give yourself time, you should be realize that new situations take time to get use to and that you will probably always miss home to some extent, but over the time feeling of homesickness will decrease in intensity and number of episodes. Thanks.

Hello sir. I am a 21 year old student currently preparing for civil services. I have always been a bright student but lately my problem of over thinking (EXTREMELY negative thoughts) and overstress has exacerbated to an extent where forget concentrating, I am not even able to form proper sentences while speaking/writing. This has reduced my confidence levels drastically because I was always a good performer at debates and writing competitions in my school days. My father is an alcoholic so I do not share a friendly relationship with him. We hardly talk. I have always been sort of an introvert but now it has become very hard for me to bear with this loneliness as the only person I had in my life hates me now. I think I'm slowly going into severe depression because now that I am not able to study properly, I feel like I will not achieve my goals and all my aspirations will merely remain dreams. I wish I could emphasize more on how tough this has become for me but I fail to explain it to anyone perfectly. I do not want a solution to my problems, I just want my confidence and enthusiasm back so that I can concentrate on my studies and ignore all my problems.

Hi lybrate-user user Scary thoughts are a complex anxiety symptoms and it creates enormous amount of anxiety. There are some steps you can take to help break the cycle of scary thoughts-- Take a few times throughout the day where you can seat comfortably and visualize your scary thought in a less threatening way. You can use humour to downplay those thoughts to less threatening thoughts. Use self - talk that reassures you that you would never carry out the thoughts you think. Try to remind yourself that it's Okay that those thoughts are there don't resist them but try to accept them as just Thoughts, and nothing more. They can't hurt you. Daily meditation is very helpful for you. If you try and work hard you can feel comfortable again in your mind. Thanks.

HI lybrate-user Attention is the one of the major components of memory.in order to for information to move from short term memory in to long term memory, you should give your actively attention to this information. You can improve your memory by practicing active recall during learning and periodic reviews of the study material. Involve yourself reading and think about what you are reading. Think questions for yourself after the reading sessions. Make short notes. If needed repeat it. Take a short break during studies. Try to arrange a schedule for your studies. Before you start studying, think of something that can serve as a reward for yourself. All The Best.

HI lybrate-user It seems that you get nervous. When you enter the examination hall make yourself comfortable, take a few deep breath to reduce tension. Take your time to read through all the question's and instructions carefully. Pick the questions that relate well to your revision, and start writing. Don't think about result just do your best. For improving memory power try to involve yourself in reading! instead of just reading you need to read and think about what you reading and summarize it in your memory and make a short notes. Revise often and re- read to your notes as much as you can. Be sure to get enough sleep and eat healthy. All the best.

HI lybrate-user The great weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another. You should ask youself what you can do about the sources of your stress, think through the pros and cons and take action where you can. Try to keep a positive and realistic attitude. If your stressful situation might be controllable, the best coping strategy is to treat the situation as a challenge and focus on ways to control it, but if your situation is uncontrollable, try to change your goal. Share your feelings with your family. Try to see the beautiful part of your life, believe in yourself you can handle each and every situation of your life in a positive way, live a happy and healthy life. Thanks.

--Need Help with Hypnotherapy-- Been suffering from lot of anxiety and severe depression over the guilt of committing something which is morally wrong according to me. Although it hasn't affected anyone, its not a crime and no one was hurt at all and it means nothing to others, but its something I never wanted to do and hated it to the core. My principles and moral values never allowed me even to go close to it. Had been judging people in a bad way for years about it. But somehow I ended up doing the same thing. Earlier I used to walk away from such people. But I can not walk away from myself! And I can not forgive myself for the sin I have committed and now I just want to die. I can't live with myself remembering I did something I never wanted to do. Is there any way to erase that event from my mind? I just want to delete that part, I want to delete just that one day and that moment from my life. I have heard a hypnotherapist can do it? Please help! Please help me forget (erase) it forever!

HI LIBRATE USER Feeling guilty, it really make you feel like a huge burden is on your shoulder, but the good thing about this was that you could use your guilt as a sign of what priorities you needed to change your life. Everyone make mistakes, making mistakes is what make us human. You should appreciate yourself for your inner honesty and try to improve your life. Focus on forgiving yourself for what you have done, learn from the past and do better in your future. An affirmation of positive statement would be encourage and uplift your thoughts. Try this-"I am a good person and deserve the best despite my past actions" I am not perfect, I make mistakes, but I can learn from my past. Try to tell yourself daily for one week and give your feedback. Thanks.

How to increase our grasping power of our brain which we help in our study as well as can keep us happy in our life and keep a big smile on our face and never be give us false thinking?

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY, Masters in clinical psychology
Psychologist, Mumbai
Hi Librate user Very good question. Grasping power depends upon practice and concentration. If you keep a focused mind only one thing at a time, that you would like to achieve, then your grasping power will definitely increase. Make a short notes of your studies, and try to recall them, and for your happiness try to make a short list of the simple things that give you pleasure, and keep them in front of your consciousness and make sure you engage with them at least few times in a week. Whatever movements inspires you do it, observe it and feel the happiness, its brings for you. Live in the moment is the key of individuals happiness, you can't change the past, no control of the future so try to live in the moment and enjoy what's in front of you right here, right now. Thanks.
