Hi doctors. I am 26 years old. I am facing a serious issue, which is related with my behaviour. I imagine things a lot and because of that I have inculcated a habit of talking to myself, I find it very difficult to control my emotions and I talk loudly which means that I actually talk to myself loudly. This habit has become so weird that people have actually seen me talking on road with myself and even at work, which is really embarassing. I accept that I don't have to many friends, and I really don't know y I don't have to many friends, most of the time I feel like staying alone, with a fear that what if I am sitting with my friends and they saw me talking to myself, will further spoil my image, is being alone, not having to many friends, is that the root cause of the problem? I really don't know, even when I am at work, I tend to imagine a lot and the problem is that my imagination has got no control, it is all situational, I at times feel that I am literally becoming mad but I have actually scene people with similar behaviour and that's why I didn't feel like consulting a doctor earlier and because of that I felt that it's all normal but now the problem is becoming severe, it has become so severe that most of the times I feel disconnected with real world and most of the time engrossed in imaginative world, before people could actually start considering me mad, I want somebody to help please. Is there a treatment for this? I also want to mention that my mom also have this habit, could it be hereditary or something else, please help? help would be highly appreciated! regards,

For your condition I would suggest you to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist immediately. What you are going through is understood, but why have you never taken any help. Kindly consult a professional as your problem can be solved with proper therapy and treatment. Stop living in imaginary world by going out and meeting people and living in the real world. The cause for this may be your hidden anxiety about something, but this needs to be dealt with immediately. Get help.

Hello doctor my brother age is 10 years old. He is really aggressive and hyper child. He is good in studies but he get hyper very fast and start beating or throwing thing to other. He always play games on tv and moreover he always used to fight in school. Nowdays I am really fedup with his behavior. Every teacher complain about him. He may be going through some emotional turmoil or some professional difficulties. Have open communication with him about it without giving any advice and just listening to him. If there is nothing like this, he may be just going through low phase where he wants more attention and support. Don't let him feel like a victim, which he already does. He is just feeling pity for himself which needs to be stopped.

I'm 32. I feel like i'm going crazy ever since my son was born. He's 4 now. I recently read somewhere about postpartum depression. How do I know if I have the same or what are the symptoms? if I do, i'm unsure how to put forth the same to my husband because he behaves like a lawyer most of his life.

I can really understand what you must be going through. Many women feel this after delivery. Not necessary you have depression, but feeling pressurized and overwhelmed due to this whole situation is obvious. Have an honest discussion with your husband without sounding like you are complaining. Share with him what you are feeling. Ask for help from your family or in-laws. You need support and help so ask for it. Nothing wrong in it.

I am 32 years old. I am facing obsessive compulsion disorder. I am having three types of problem they are 1. I am getting two thoughts at a time like while crossing road my mind gets puzzled and not able to take decision to cross the road 2. I am getting obsessive. Thoughts and fear of useless thoughts for example I will die with headache. 3. I am not satisfied with my work. There is repetitive questions arises in my mind. These all things makes me irritated, anxiety, and I fail to enjoy my day to day life. Please doctor help me.

Frankly speaking you need to take proper counseling for this problem as its not so simple. Please consult a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Your problem can be treated with proper counseling. Please don't hesitate and get help. A professional will be able to help you find the root cause of your anxieties which are causing these symptoms. And please do not self diagnose. Not necessary you have ocd. Many people go through such a phase.

Hi doctor, my nephew is 22 months old, and he did not speak or make eye contact, he did not point on anything, goes to strangers very easily, do not recognize her mother, he has stopped doing things which he used to make earlier, plays in alone with his shadow but do not play with toys, watches t. V a lot, do not ask for anything, donot resist hugs and kisses. We are really worried, coz few of the signs matches with autism, please guide us what should we do? are these a symptom of an autistic child?

Kindly consult a developmental pediatrician as soon as possible. It is not possible to give a proper diagnosis unless the child has been thoroughly evaluated. Please do not waste time and consult a doctor immediately. What ever the problem may be, it can be taken care of, only if the diagnosis is right.

A lady around 40 yrs old, told me that she keeps seeing some dark form which is not visible to others in her family and she feels it asks her to feed it and says that this above mentioned lady will live only for few more yrs, this lady is terrified and is always afraid and says that the form haunts her when no one is around, she has no appetite and has to pass motion every time the imaginary form comes near her, she does not sleep at night out of fear. Can any suggest what should be done, as the lady's condition is worsening day by day.

Take him to a counseling psychologist who deal with adolescents. These are typical teen age problems. Try to be his friend now and do not be too critical with him. Understanding and support is necessary to deal with teen agers. Set his priorities right.

Hi.There is a friend of mine.She has lost her mother when she was kid.She couldn't concentrate in study after that and taken degrees from open school.She is thyroid patient.Somehow she behaves very awkwardly when somebody in family ask her to loose weight or study like tying dupatta on her neck and threatened to kill herself.Is it a medical condition.How critical is it?

The fear is similar to what we cal stage fright. Fear of facing people or an audience. It is common and many people go through it, but they can also overcome it. Its a fear of making a mistake or making a fool of yourself in front of an audience. Which makes you hyper alert and panicky. Try some breathing exercises which can relax you just before going for an interview. Understand that everyone makes a mistake, and you should not be ashamed of it. Have self confidence and be prepared to make mistakes. Tell yourself it is fine to make a mistake and your anxiety will be fine. You will be better able to cope with it. Understand that if you do a mistake its not the end of the world.

I have early simtums of depression. I feel insecurity and every time ready to weep almost. Any little emotional scene or even song, it's hard to stop my tears. I am engineering student now and when i was in 10th standard i shaved my eyebroos because my eyebroos were joint,and my friends teased me and condemned me like anything so i hated them and fought with them and i felt very angry.Then my anger grew and i fought with everyone and i hated everyone,and i got tensesd,worried becas they called me eyebroos.I,worried and depressed.I bacame tensed,fearfull, and i have memory loss.Now how can i improve my memory?

Do you really have a memory problem? you may have concentration problem as you are constantly thinking of all these things which you mentioned. You may be suffering from low self esteem due to all these experiences. Stop feeling inferior because your friends are teasing you. Friends tend to do these nonsense things. The more you get disturbed by it, the more they will do it. Do not give them the pleasure and satisfaction of disturbing you. Firstly ignore them or be assertive in defining your limits. Clearly tell them that you don't like it and you will not tolerate it further. And most important is that you be fine with what you did as a child. As a child many people make such foolish mistakes, have a sense of humor about it. Don't be so embarrassed about it. It is ok and completely fine making such foolish mistakes as a child.

Stress can be due to various reasons. What is giving you so much stress. Find the reason and change it. If not possible to leave it find ways of relaxing. Get a hobby, meet new people, meditate, listen to your favorite music.

When you compare yourself to others you will always find something lacking. Feeling inferior or not is in your hands. Instead of analyzing other girls, try and find what is good in you. Understand your strengths and work on them. If there is something you want to achieve, go for it. Sitting and feeling helpless is not going to be useful. Always remember you are unique, so appreciate what you have and love yourself for what you are. The day you love yourself everyone else will start.

There are times in everyone's life when they feel alone, empty or broken. You need to find what is troubling you and breaking you from inside. Make some new goals for life and follow them. Bring a change in your lifestyle. If you are feeling broken understand that it is ok to feel so, but not ok to be stuck in it forever. Whatever it is analyze it and deal with it. Emptiness can be due to lack of aim in life, or if oyu are hurt because of something. In any case you need to sit and see through it and learn to move on. The idea of emptiness is acceptable, but being stuck in is not.

Sir.I have stress/anxiety disorders for last many years. And now it seems like growing and interfering with my day to day life. When i am doing routine things (brainless works). Its ok. .But. I when i try to think/plan conciously or try to sit in peace. Anxiety shoots back. And . It seems as my whole feelings/imagination is lost. As both feeling & imagination requires calm mind, which i dont have. All in all. I am a guy with lack of feelings/imagination and hence depressed

You are not a guy with a lack of feelings and imagination. Actually you have too much feeling and imagination, but of the negative kind. You are definitely looking for some kind of security, regarding something important to you. That is causing the constant anxiety and making you dysfunctional. Get rid of any negative thoughts about some experiences you had in the past. And stop looking for a certainty in everything you do. Things may have different outcomes but you cant stop trying. The fear of things not happening your way causes anxiety, so give your 100 percent to what you do and be ready for the outcome. Stop looking for certainty in everything, nobody can guarantee it. My wife has panic attacks while traveling in vehicles . In trains also she has such attacks but only in general compartments but she is ok in AC coaches. Due to this anxiety of traveling she is distracted from doing her daily chores as a homemaker. Please advice

You need to first get her evaluated by a psychiatrist to find out if its an anxiety disorder. If she is fine in AC coaches it may be anxiety due to specific event or place, like crowded place or for security in general compartments. It can be an insecurity which causes the anxiety like safety issues. That needs to be analyzed. If she is being dysfunctional take her to a psychiatrist for treatment. Simultaneous counseling is needed.

Hi I am scared of of faceing people i know. I can talk very well with strangers but not with people i know. I am super self conceous and think alot. You are having self esteem issues due to the criticism of others.Learn be assertive wherein you should be confident of yourself and not take others opinions as truth. Avoid such people who can only give you negativity and stress, if you cant learn to be assertive. Stop people from criticizing you by clearly mentioning that it is not acceptable. You need to set limitations. And most important have self belief. Learn to evaluate your positive points and concentrate on them.
