How to concentrate to focus on study and get free from disruption while studying.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Dear Lybrateuser, - You have to yourself make an effort to sit in a quiet place or room & study, also tell people around not to disturb you for the studying time - close your mobile & keep it away, only see it when finished with your studies as it is the biggest disturbing factor - before starting your study session have some water & a snack so that you don't feel hungry & thirsty in between your study - keep a target or fix pages to complete as per your convinience & capacity, make short notes of the important portions which you can go through before your exam - take a 5-10 min break after an hours study - eat well, do some exercise like walking whenever you want to relax so that the mind can again concentrate when you study.

Dear Lybrateuser, - You have tachycardia that is heart beat above the normal range of 60-100 beats per minute - could be due to stress or anxiety, do walking, jogging, swimming, yoga, meditation & deep breathing to reduce it - limit tea, coffee intake to 1-2 cups per day if you have more - also do blood hemoglobin, thyroid panel & ECG to rule out any other problem - reduce your weight by diet & exercise.

Is migraine a hereditary disorder? If a male person has a migraine then is there any chance that it will get transferred to his child? What are the chances that the offspring will develop this disorder anytime in his or her lifetime?

MBBS

Dear Lybrateuser, - Studies do show that migraine does have a genetic predisposition, it can manifest in the child when the trigger factor is there.

Dear Lybrateuser, - To raise your hemoglobin have iron rich foods mainly organ meats, green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, broccoli, beans & lentils, eggs, nuts, fruits such as apple, guava, figs, Jagger - also you can take supplement such as Capsule Autrin, daily one cap after breakfast - if not much improvement in 1-2 months then consult a doctor as you may require injectible iron supplement to raise your hemoglobin level.

Dear lybrateuser, - Since your problem is recurring every few days it is important to find out the cause by way of investigation, do x- ray paranasal sinuses to rule out chronic sinusitis, a deviated nasal septum or nasal polyps - avoid exposure to dust, smoke & pollens, while travelling wear a mask to filter the air - also have plenty of oral fluids including 7-8 glasses of water to keep well hydrated - instil 2-3 drops normal saline in each nostril 3-4 times daily - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits, vegetables, whole grains & protein foods to boost your immunity.
