Hello Dr. I am 22 years old male. I am feeling unenergetic after coming from office at evening. please can you let me know the energy drink that are medicated and must have no side effects and can be taken in daily use.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Dear lybrateuser, - To be energetic & agile the whole day follow some precautions: - have a well balanced diet including protein foods with each of your meal & as snacks, have 4-5 small meals including snacks to provide the body with continuous energy, have meals on time do not skip meals - have plenty of oral fluids including 2-3 litres of water per day as even mild dehydration causes tiredness & weakness - you do not require a medicated drink as it can disturb the bodies electrolyte system & cause other unwanted problems - have a glass of milk with chocolate or butter milk or a fruit milk shake to provide the requisite energy - do regular exercise as it is the most important factor to keep you fit & energised throughout the day - also get your bp, blood hemoglobin, sugar & thyroid hormone level checked up if not done earlier.

Dear Lybrateuser, - You can visit a general physician who can check the affected area, if required get an x- ray done, if some problem is there then can further refer to an orthopedic surgeon for expert opinion & management.

What are the symptoms of dengue fever? And how can we prevent it? If by chance if it happens how can we cure it?
Dear lybrateuser, - Symptoms of dengue include fever, headache especially behind eyeballs, muscle & joint pain, tiredness, sometimes stomachache, vomiting, skin rash, in severe cases bleeding from internal organs - it can be prevented by maintaining proper hygiene & sanitation in & around the house & preventing mosquito bite - avoid accumulation of water in drains, flower pots, old tanks & containers as it is the breeding place for the mosquito, do mosquito proofing of the house by using mesh or use mosquito net while sleeping, apply mosquito repellent cream on exposed parts, fumigate the surrounding area of the house & drains - treatment is by bed rest, plenty of oral fluids, tab Paracetamol for fever, if hematocrit & platelet count becomes low then hospitalisation is required.

Dear lybrateuser, - To boost your immunity naturally you have to consume a well balanced diet with more of fruits( especially citrus fruits), vegetables including seasonal & green leafy ones, protein rich foods such as eggs, non veg, milk & milk products, soya products, tofu, beans, lentils, pulses, peas, sprouts, nuts such as almonds, walnuts, pista, cashews, peanuts, healthy fats as in fish, olive or canola oil for cooking, avocados & flax seeds - include a variety of fruits & vegetables & whole grains for a range of vitamins & minerals which are very vital for a strong immunity - have plenty of oral fluids including 2-3 litres of water per day, restrict intake of tea, coffee to 1-2 cups per day - apply pain relief gel 3 times a day on the shin & calf muscle to reduce pain, do plain walking for a week or so instead of jogging, see if the pain reduces if not much improvement then do an x-ray of the affected area to rule out any problem - also do exercises like swimming or cycling & yoga where there is no direct impact on the legs & you can expend calories - sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night which is a very important factor for a strong immunity - a strong immunity depends on a healthy lifestyle & not on any medication or supplements unless there is a health problem.
