High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation,yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods,oily foods,junk foods,alcohol,smoking,fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress,take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

You may have cervicogenic headache in which upper cervical spondylosis occur. Pls take sm neck physiotherapy session near you. Apply cold pack on upper back neck, do sm side bending, sm scalene stretching, pectoral stretching. Do deep breathing you will feel better.

The doctor who has done this procedure should have been asked. All the precautions required for cad / ischemic heart disease is to be followed. Lifestyle modification is most important. Healthy weight is foremost requirement. 1) stress management - meditation 20 mins a day. 2) aerobic exercise - brisk walking for 5 km daily, 6 days a week, without fail and the 3) dietary management - avoid trans fat, saturated fat, oily food, fried substances, fast food, butter, cheese, red meat. High fibre, more veges, salads, fruits, fish can be taken daily.

How to control high BP and what diet we have to follow. Are there any restrictions.
Dear, To control & maintan BP normal these are best methods to follow:.• Do physical exercise like jogging or brisk walk for atleast 20-30 minutes. • Maintain your cholesterol level to normal & eat least amount of butter, cream or fatty things. • Eat less amount of pickle, salt and fast food as they contain high sodium levels. • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. • Take less amount of caffine containing coffee, tea or cold drinks because caffine causes increase BP. • Drink 8 to 10 glass of water daily • Take 6 to 8 hrs of sleep daily. Do not take too much stress. • Do long breathing pranayams (Anulom- Vilom, Bhramari) daily for 10 - 15 minutes. It will reduce your stress level in your body. • Eat healthy diet such as green leafy vegetables, fruits. • Take 5 ml of GULAB Jal added in a glass of water daily once a day.

My father is a heart patient and diabetic. From last one month his sodium level is 125 and potassium is quiet high. He is having high BP problem also. Please advice what can we do for his low sodium in this case. He is not able to walk from last 2 months due to generalized weakness. He just got treated for Viral Meningoencephalitis.

125 is very low level for sodium. That could be the reason for the weakness on top of that increased potassium could be due to kidney disease. Kindly go to your physician.

Hello, For your problem exercise is the best solution. Ask him to start doing physical activity like walking. Start with 10 min and can continue it to an hour. This helps with his fatigue and low B.P. Regarding diet, make sure he is taking 7 -8 servings of fruits and vegetable. Give him only brown rice or millets for main meals. Snack on fruits and nuts. Avoid non veg, and wheat . This should help him. Stay healthy stay fit☺

I am a male of 50 years old. I used to do lipid profile test once in 6 months. Each time my total cholesterol come about 200-210, HDL about 32-36, LDL about 150-160 triglyceride about 250-260. For last 5-6 years I take very less oil, walk 4-5 KM/ day about 5 days in a week, non-veg food 1-2 times a week that to fish or chicken. Of course I have not taken medicine for this. Kindly advise how can I increase HDL cholesterol and reduce other cholesterol.

Three days before suddenly I got pain in middle of the chest. I went to hospital and they took ECG that cardiac doctor check my ECG and my breath, after he told it's not like related to chest. Want to consult gastrology. Then I seen gastro doctor, I tell the symptoms, he took blood test. In that result I have ulcer. Then he gave some medicine and I am taking for three days. Still pain is there but bot like before. But still middle of the chest and middle if the stomach and chest paining. Kindly give a advice.

Dear lybtateuser, - You have to continue taking the medicines as it takes time for the pain to subside, consult your doctor in this regard - also avoid spicy, fried, sour & junk food - have 8-10 glasses of water for proper digestion - also do regular exercise like walking, jogging, yoga, deep breathing which will help lessen the pain.

Get thyroid tested, ecg & halter for heart, x ray chest blood for hb & sugar & eat a protein rich diet like milk, eggs, nuts, soy & lots of fruits and vegetables to give you vitamins & minerals. Regarding breathing problem, it can be pollution related or due to general weakness, the reports will confirm about the reason.

1.For your age pain chest could be due to anxiety, stress, Physical and mental strain,hyper acidity, muscular problem 2. Avoid stress and strain 3.Do regular exercise, reduce your weight if over weight. 4.Control your diet. Avoid oily/spicy/fried and junk food,high calorie and cholesterol rich diet.Take small frequent meals(5-6 meals/day instead of three heavy meals).If you have hyper acidity take one tablet of pan 40 in the morning before breakfast daily for few days 5.Do Yoga, Meditation, deep breathing exercise like pranayama etc. It will calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress. 6.Have sound sleep for 7-8 hours daily. 7.Avoid smoking,alcohol, excess tea/coffee, if you are having 8. Drink plenty of water and take rest 9. Take paracetamol 500mg one tablet sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets per day at the time of chest pain 10.if you have recurrent attack of chest pain check your BP, take ECG and consult cardiologist 11.Consult me for further advice

I have high bp. Even after medication my systolic hovers around 90-100 and diastolic at 140. Medication taken is amlodipine 5 MG. PENOM H 20 MG. PENOM H was recently added under medical advice. Please suggest if there is any other problem due to high systolic.

Hello Lybrate user according to ayurveda, Hypertension is referred to as Rakta Capa Vriddhi and it sees the vitiation of vata and pitta doshas as the main cause. Home Remedy- Mix 1 teaspoon of onion juice with an equal amount of honey. Take once a day for 1 week. Upon noticing improvement, continue for several more days. Treatment- 1-take sarpgandha vati twice a day. 2-yogendra ras. Akik bhasm works very good in case of hypertension. 3-Take pranacharya no tens capsule twice a day Diet-avoid salty diet. Oily food. Lower your stress. Do pranayama early morning.
