Hi Sir. Im undergoing treatment for lymph node TB. I missed my morning dose of Isoniazid (300) few days ago. Will it have any effect?

MBBS, MD - Pulmonary Medicine
Pulmonologist, Mohali
Usually missing a single dose does not affect the course of the disease. But if you miss the dose in the morning take it in the day whenever you remember.

My father has prolonged cough from 3-4 months. Can it be a sign of TB? If yes, what should we do?

MBBS, MD - Pulmonary Medicine
Pulmonologist, Mohali
Hi, Cough for more than 2 weeks is a symptom of tuberculosis which needs to be evaluated to finalise the diagnosis. Tests like sputum examination might be required.

Sir/ mdm I am raza khan aged 22 years I have TB in lymph nodes n I am taking treatment for dat since 8 months still the nodes r persisting yet. Dctr told dat after 9 months you can stop taking medicines so wt I need to know is if I cease treatment is there any chance of getting weak again as before the treatment I have started so could please suggest something regarding this? It may really helps me. Thnq.

MBBS, MD - Pulmonary Medicine
Pulmonologist, Mohali
Hi Mr. lybrate-user Usually you do not need additional investigations for completing treatment of tubercular lymph nodes. However, if the Nodes are persisting at the same size or have increased in size then you may ask your treating doctor to go for culture of the aspirate material only if the treating doctor thinks that you clinically need repeat fnac.

Sir my mother has tb and report say abf seen and after one week no AFB grown. I have a doubt that tb is contagious. So do any of my family can catch tb. My mother is using tablets now she is ok. And please suggest a diet also.

MBBS, MD - Pulmonary Medicine
Pulmonologist, Mohali
Hi lybrate-user kindly mention if your mother is suffering from any other problem like diabetes, hypertension etc. And do you have children less than 6 years old in your house. Keep Your mother in a well ventillated room and ensure proper disposal of the sputum. Thanks.
