Hello ma'am, as you mentioned in this it called as a congenital hearing loss. Mostly this caused of any pre or perinatal complication, due to any syndrome or related to diff cause. Hearing loss in such cases are mostly very severe category where sometimes only residual hearing is remaining. As a rehabilitation point of view we as a audiologist mostly focus on early intervention, so if child is less than 3 years then it required to go for cochlear implant or hearing aid fitting. In congenital case age will be play a most imp role bcoz under 5years only child will be able to understand language & their complication. After 5years it difficult to make there language age appropriate bcoz it obvious when child heard something then only they will learn language & communicate with others. For older child with congenital hearing loss then acco to the degree of loss treatment is vary but as I mentioned earlier they've severe category of loss so as a rehabilitation point of view sign lang or other manual communication help them. To detect such child as early as possible try to arrange oae& abr screening at nicu by audiologist. Thanks.

Hearing capacity may get impaired due to constant use of earphones. If you r able to concentrate on your work then no need to worry you can continue listening music but it should not become obsession.

Can't drink upto the so called required amount of water in a day?
Sip on water every half an hour and see the difference in your energy level and you feel fresh and active.
If you drink lots of water or plenty of water advised by all to cleanse your body, you find it difficult to retain in your body. Hence you avoid drinking water most of the times.
The above method takes care of it.

All About Cochlear Implants

A cochlear implant is beneficial if you are deaf or have difficulties in hearing. Cochlear implants are not hearing aids which just raise the volume of the different sounds you hear; they are surgically implanted inside your head. The implant transmits impulses straight to the auditory nerves which send the signals to the brain.
Cochlear implants can help you with sounds such as telephones, alarms or doorbells ringing. You can even understand speech or listen to music again with the help of cochlear implants.
How Cochlear Implants Work?
Cochlear implants are for adults and children with sensorineural (hearing loss caused by damage to the inner ear) hearing loss.
The device consists of two parts:
The receiver-stimulator: this part is surgically implanted under the skin.
The speech processor: this part is placed externally, behind the ear.
The receiver-stimulator is placed first, and two weeks after the procedure, the speech-processor is installed. If there are sounds around you, the microphone on the speech processor will pick them up and transform them into electrical impulses. The receiver-stimulator receives these impulses through the electrodes inside them. The electrodes then send the electrical impulses to stimulate the auditory nerves, and ultimately, the sounds picked up will reach the brain.
Advantages Of Cochlear Implants-
Some advantages of cochlear implants include:
Being able to hear at normal volumes.
Understanding speech without the need to lip-read.
Listening to and talking over the phone get easier.
Being able to hear music better after the surgery.
Picking up loud, medium and soft sounds.
Modulating your own voice gets better, so others understand you easily.
Disadvantages/Risks Associated With Cochlear Implants-
The risks of cochlear implants are common surgical after-effects such as infection, bleeding and anaesthetic side-effects. Some other complications include:
Alteration in sense of taste due to nerve injury.
Paralysis or weakness on the face due to nerve damage.
Dizziness.
Tinnitus (Ringing in the ear).
Fluid leakage around the brain.
Device can be faulty or get infected.
Meningitis (An infection in the brain).
People Who Can Get Cochlear Implant-
You are eligible to get a cochlear implant if you have:
Profound to severe hearing loss.
Problems with the hearing aid.
A strong wish to improve your hearing.
Even children with severe hearing loss in both the ears can get a cochlear implant.

I am suffering from Warrdenburg-Syndrome type II, I have heterochromia iridus (right eye blue and left eye brown) and I am deaf from left ear. The deafness was kind of progressive. During my childhood I was able to hear partly however gradually I became completely deaf from left ear. I am able to hear properly from right ear. I want to know is there any risk to my right ear hearing? Can I be deaf from my right ear too at a later stage in life?

Hello, in most cases or waardernburg syndrome the hearing loss is congenital however in your case as it is type 2 its progressive there are high chances that you might have progressive hearing loss. Consult a audiologist for the same for further guidance. Regards.

My dad is having hearing disorder. From one ear, he can't hear anything but from the second one, doc says that a machine can be used. My question is, is the hearing impairment machine the only solution for long term (can some medication or alternative treatment help)? I'm trying to find an alternative to hearing aid, as I assume that if someone is using hearing aid then over long term his ear can't improve, it will only deteriorate further. Please correct me.

You go for 6 channels hearing aid it will improve your daddy's hearing sensitivity like small sounds also can able to identify easily but very expensive. Hearing aid is the only management for hearing loss.

What is the common frequency of hearing loss ?

MASLP

It depends on your age and profession. If your work involves noise exposure then high frequencies get affected. If you are more than 50 years of age then also high frequencies get affected first. Although if there is wax in the ears then low frequencies are going to get affected first.
