Potatoes are crammed with carbohydrates. All forms of this stuffy food have major impact on weight gain. You can grill or bake potatoes with butter. People who eat potato chips and French fries tend to gain weight faster. Make French fries using extra virgin oil, if you like them. Moreover, you can also make a delicious potato salad. Peel and slice potato. Boil them and mix them with the high calorie ingredients like buttermilk, mayonnaise, and veggies.

Daily morning I feel tired some I m 28 years old I take sleep of 7 hours daily sleep at 12.30 get up at 7.30?

Dear, if you tired very fast and feeling tiredness. Then you will definitely recover from weakness by following these very useful tips. * you should take proper balanced diet first. That means you have to take vegetables, milk, chapattis or rice, butter / cream, cereals (daals) or cheese every day. Very important thing, do not miss or skip your meals at any cost and take meals on time. * proper 6-8 hours sleep is very important. If your sleep is less than 6 hours, then you feel tired very early. So complete your sleep. * do breathing execises daily in morning & evening. Just sit down in peaceful place, close your eyes, take deep and long breaths in and out. Do it atleast for 10-15 minutes daily. You can also do pranayams like anulom vilom for better results. *take a walk, in first walk normally for 10-15 minutes for 15 days. You can do it on treadmill also. * you can take ashvagandha churn of baidyanath 1 teaspoon with milk daily for 2 months atleast to get your strength back. * check out your haemoglobin level in 3 months, if it is low you get tired early. So get treatment of low haemoglobin (anemia). If you have any disease like asthma /diabetes / hypertension, then get complete treatment of them. * avoid all fast foods and habit of smoking or drinking. You surely get great strength and recover from weakness by following these important things.

Hello lybrate-user- weight gain depends not only on diet but also on sound sleep. Try these ayurvedic tips and medicine- a) sleep at least 8-10 hrs a day. B) eat food according to your digestion over eating sometimes causes indigestion which in turn causes weight loss. C) increase dairy products and non-veg diet in your meals. D) use shatavari kalpa 1 tsp twice daily, ashwagandha pak 1 tsp twice. Madhu malini vasanta 1 tab twice a day. You will see improvements within few weeks.

One should think logical and practically before jumping into unknown terrains. It's always better to know your body and it's nature as each individual is born with a unique identity (due to the role played by genetics).

The metabolic rate differs from person to person and so there cannot be a one plan that fits all regarding weight loss or weight gain.

Some important points to be noted.

Always check with your physician and see that you are fit to reduce or gain weight.

Infact it very important to confirm that you are overweight or underweight before you start anything!

See that you do not suffer from thyroid problems, diabetes or hypertension or any other illnesses.

Ensure that any change in lifestyle (including dieting and exercising) is comfortable for you and does not cause pain or discomfort.

There are no short cuts for success. It can be dangerous to use supplements or steroids, or even thinking of starvation or avoiding a particular nutrient in order to achieve fast results.

Use common-sense in taking important decisions. If some body promises miraculous changes without a scientific basis and that too in a short period if time, be aware! it can cause more damage than the promised benefits in the future.

Always stick to a balanced diet as the body requires all the nutrients.

Always include exercise whether it's weight loss or weight gain.

Always prefer natural ingredients over artificial ones.

Keep good hydration (your thirst should be the best indicator). When you are thirsty please drink plain and clean water and nothing else. An average of 8-10 glasses of water would be sufficient. If you are active and do workouts (exercise) then you can increase a few more glasses of water.

Avoid all junk food, fried food, very salty food, ready-made juices, sodas (cold drinks) tobacco and alcohol.
Eat freshly prepared food only. Have green salads, sprouts, whole grains (all types of grains), pulses, seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables so that there is a good portion of all the nutrients in your diet.

Keep a track of your progress. Keep checking the vital parameters once in a week so that you are safe and healthy. And enjoy the process of transformation which should be slow and study. You should remember that it's not a competition with anybody but a conscious decision to stay fit and healthy which should make you happy and motivated.

I am 24 years old. Last month I got to know that I don't have my right kidney and left one has a swelling. But I don't feel any problem with myself and I am fit. My GFR reading is 94ml/min. Doing pyeloplasty operation at this point of time is necessary or I can avoid for now? I was about to join my 1st ship in merchant navy when I got to know this. Please help.

Hi, your gfr is very good for a single kidney. Did you have any pain or urine infection? if you can share the ultrasound report, I will be in a better position to guide you. Otherwise, since the ultrasound shows hydronephrosis, next step is to get a dtpa scan (with f-15 protocol) done. It is done in nuclear imaging centers. It will show whether the swelling is really dangerous to kidney or not. If dtpa scan show obstruction, then its better to undergo pyeloplasty. Since you are asymptomatic with good gfr, I feel that your dtpa will be normal and you may not need pyeloplasty. However, since you have a single kidney with swelling further evaluation in the form of dtpa scan is a must. Wish you good health,

Hi, by improving your digestive system, you can increase your weight. 1. You must focus on getting the maximum nutrition out of the food that you are eating and digest that. To improve your digestive powers, you can take chitrakadi vati after meal and ashwagandha churna with water twice a day. 2. You can also have milk and milk products eg butter, ghee, etc along with banana shake.
